These are the rules that remain consistent from competition to competition.
First, these are the rules about Posting:
You are allowed to submit
only one entry
. An entry normally consists of only
one
collectible card, plus any necessary additional material or commentary (explained below).
You are allowed to post in this Submission Topic
only once
, only to submit your one entry.
You may not delete ANY posts you make in this Submission Topic
, not even accidental ones you may make over your one allowed, such as by double-posting or by accidentally posting something here that you meant for the Discussion Topic. If you do accidentally post more than once, inform any of the Fan Creation Forum moderators via PM, and we will handle it.
Speaking of the Discussion Topic, that is where any discussion of this competition should go. This thread is for
submissions only
. If you want to discuss your card or ask questions about the competition rules or process, you can find a link to the Discussion Topic at the top of this thread. Plenty of folks there will be happy to help you out.
Once you have submitted your one entry, you are allowed to make
only minor changes
to it. Minor changes are things like correcting typos or making balance changes that do not alter the spirit of your entry as determined by we the moderators. If you want to make any changes and have any doubts as to their legality, ask us first.
These are the rules about your Submission:
Accompanying the image of your card, you may offer some
minimal additional commentary
to explain its design, balance, and/or other qualities. Flavor text is also welcome.
You
may not
submit any Gold cards or animated cards. (It's just a cheap attention grab tactic that makes it unnecessarily difficult to determine what class your card is for.)
Your entry must be a card of
your own creation
. We've been doing this for a while, so if you blatantly rip off somebody else's idea, we will know.
Remember that, although HearthCards is awesome,
you MUST host your card somewhere other than Hearthcards.
Save it and upload it to
Imgur
,
Photobucket
, or some other similar site. HearthCards has a limited server space and will purge cards after a few days, and nobody wants your card disappearing part-way through the finals. We understand that there are some HearthCards memberships that will allow you to save your card there for longer (and you should totally get one of those just for general fan creation purposes, by the way), but we don't know who has those memberships and we can't tell from the URLs.
Fun and even humorous entries are perfectly allowed, but "troll" entries will be disqualified. If you're worried that your card may be misinterpreted as a troll card, contact a moderator before you submit.
A Note on Group Submissions: if you team up with other people to submit an entry, you must enclose that information in your submission and
none
of you may upvote that entry.
That would be considered an unfair advantage and we will treat it as vote-manipulation. You are technically voting for yourself, and that is not allowed. Failing to tell us you're in a group is also against the rules, as we'll have no choice but to assume that you withheld the information to ghost-vote your group's submission.
TIP:
Though not a rule exactly, we
highly
recommend that you insert your images using this icon on the bar above the post text editor:
. Just click that button and put in the URL of your image. Cards that are uploaded and attached to your post are not disallowed, but in our experience they will not do nearly as well, so this is for your own benefit more than anything.
Finally, know that manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive an official warning, and will be banned from this and all future HearthPwn Card Design Competitions.
Competition Process
Preview Phase
(Starts Now! Ends 21:00 UTC 30/8/18
During this Phase, the Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme.
Entry and Early Voting Phase
(Starts 21:00 UTC 30/8/18, Ends 21:00 UTC 3/9/18)
During this Phase, the Submission Topic is made available for your submissions. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like!
Voting Phase
(Starts 21:00 UTC 3/9/18, Ends 21:00 UTC 4/9/18)
During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites!
Final Phase
(Starts 21:00 UTC 4/9/18, Ends 21:00 UTC 5/9/18)
During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and poll to decide the winner of the competition!
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? First, we'll pull up-vote data from each submission using the formula detailed below:
(
ab
) / (
c
) =
x
Where,
a
= The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission.
b
= The total number of up-votes that the submission received.
c
= The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission.
x
= The submission's final score.
The formula basically measures which cards stood out the most, with the necessary assumption that each page is about equal in overall submission quality. It will be the entries that receive the highest final scores that move on to the Final Phase.
The bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score.
But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a
Wild Card
, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun.
(Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)
Rewards
Bragging rights are always awesome, but as usual, we do offer a couple of HearthPwn site rewards to competition winners:
Their card forever immortalized in our
Winners' Gallery
!
They will be allowed to select the next card design competition theme.
And a unique
Avatar Border
& "
Card Design Champion
" Title, as depicted below!

This card is a quest so it will be available in your mulligan. Since the quest wants you to not do something the reward will be granted until you fail the quest. Available tribes are Beast, Demon, Dragon, Elemental, Mech, Murloc, Pirate and Totem. So your deck has to focus on minions of different tribes and/or on cards that summons minions. Minions without a tribe are neither affected nor will affect the quest.
Temporus for mage. The build-around is to get the most of your double turn (which is most often some two-turn-kill combo like infinite fireball exodia or alextrazas double giants). Both players benefit from the effect, your opponent has 10 turns to prepare, it has counters (namely
Dirty Rat
to pull any combo pieces accumulated by turn 10 and druid's ramp) so it's not that op. (warlocks can destroy their mana crystals so they can get the effect multiple times)
Playing Murozond allows you to get the effect before the enemy if you started second. Just like the omega cards, coining won't trigger the double turn.
Play against Garrosh: "
I won't let you do that again Hellcream!"
Play against
Gul'Dan/Bloodreaver Gul'Dan
:
"Say thanks to Illidan to not let me found you first Gul'dan"
Play against Shadowreaper Anduin:
"You are not my destiny impostor shadow!"
Attack:
"FOR THE ALLIANCE!"
Death:
"I....I'm s-sorry...."
Flavor text:
"His father Varian, finally understood what was what his son wanted for the world, and died figthing for it, now Anduin is the King, and must understand, that sometimes, he needs to figth to bring peace, like his father did...."
STORMWIND REINFORCEMENTS
Play:
"(Male voice) At your positions!...(Female voice) Yes sir!"
Attack:
"
(Male voice) ATTACK!....(Female voice) For Stormwind!...For the King!"
The problem with a deck full of neutral cards is...not spells, well, Anduin help this "archtype" bringing the reinforcements...literaly. Helping the cicle and discovering spells that migth help you to answer the enemy board or game plan. Even if it looks boring cause neutral cards could be always the same deck every time, all 9 classes have minions that synergyses better with its game mechanics, hero power, and range of spells that can be discovered.
"The flow of time is always cruel... its speed seems different for each person, but no one can change it... A thing that does not change with time is a memory of younger days..."
I really like to play slower evolve type shaman decks and I wanted to make a quest that synergizes with that. Ofcourse the amount of transformations required might be too low because Unstable evolution is a thing but if this were a real card it would ofcourse require actual playtesting to determine a more reasonable amount. Nevertheless, I hope you like the card and good luck to all the participants!
Sidenote: sadly the name 'Zoth'Nagon, Shifter of Realities' didn't fit so I changed it to 'Shifter of Reality'.
Hy guys this is my entry for this week. With the new trailer warbringer Azshara I choose the synergy with the Old God
N'Zoth, the Corruptor
. Comment if you want, see ya all!
She is a very powerful win condition with Spell Damage minions like Malygos or Cosmic Anomaly . Her 8-cost allows you to cast a cheap spell like Arcane Explosion or Arcane Missiles along with the minions summoned back for a board clear, removal or burst damage.
Inspiration: She was inspired by the hauntingly beautiful short Warbringers: Jaina .
Today the Heal Paladin has a couple of major issues - it struggles to consistently take face damage, and it needs to protect some of its control tools like
Blackguard
long enough to get value out of them. This should make it easier to do both, with a little armor gain to prevent getting ripped apart by too many face attacks.
Playing 5 tribes. The reward is a really strong board clear effect for basically dealing with annoying taunts. While it may seem really strong, remember that aggro decks with this may be a little difficult because of a more forced synergy (as well as turn 1 play). The idea is to basically be playing a Zookeeper deck (like
The Curator
and
Zoobot
. It can also make use of standard versions too like
Nightmare Amalgam
to do buffs like Magnetize // Demonfire as well as pirate buffs. The board clear is pretty strong as it will ALWAYS clear the board (because of the silence added effect) and then it will usually summon a big minion. (The opponent usually will have a hard removal for it).
Note: Since it says silence as well, bonus stats from "Blessing of Kings" will not be transferred to the Amalgamation. Finally, the Amalgamation is basically like the one in The Witch Wood Monster Hunt with a tribe of: All. If a tribe of ALL is played while the quest is going, it will pick 1 random tribe that hasn't been played it as its working tribe.
I think it is a bit overpowered but in Standard you really don't have that much AoE spells that don't heal so i don't know. Priest should have a Staff-like weapon :D
Just for clarification, the effect makes it so that you are guaranteed to always draw cards with a Cost equal to your
current
maximum
Mana Crystals, spending some of your mana before drawing will not change the cards you'll draw. In other words, you'll always topdeck a minion to play on a perfect mana curve. If there are no cards matching your maximum mana in your deck, you'll draw a random card as you usually would.
The card is obviously not meant to be competitive, but it'd probably help meme decks made of 30 (Or 35, if you're playing
Prince Malchezaar
) Legendaries to be just a little bit better. Not even close to competitive, of course.
Still it has its own disadvantages too: You could only use Legendary
minions
. Spells, Weapons and Hero Cards would not be allowed. Plus, Rezan itself is a 7 mana 5/5. That means that your "perfect" draws might slow down once you reach 7 mana, as you might draw an awful minion.
I didn't focus on balancing the card, I preferred to focus on making it fun (in my opinion, at least).
This is the Submission Topic. The Discussion Topic is here.
