Thank the five dragonflights you've survived! This is Chromie you're speaking to. Yes, yes, I know I look a little bit hurt, the annoying Infinite Dragonflight knows no defeat. So many of you have mysteriously stopped existing... And I have no idea where that silly Linkblade92 is. What I do know is that we're thiiiiiiijs close to fixing the future. All I need left is the final piece to the Year. If I can put the third expansion into place, the future will be saved! But hurry, the timestreams are unwinding as we speak. Pause any longer and it may all come apart.
Once again, I only need four (4) cards from each class, six (6) neutral cards, and three (3) key wildcards from anywhere in the set to make sure the timestreams hold. Any more or any less and our efforts may end up wasted!
GENERAL RULES
Even if you're already a veteran of our competitions here on the Fan Creation Forum, you should read the general rules before you get started. This competition does introduce new rules, like image limitations and formatting requirements.
* The Submission Topic is for submissions only. If you want to discuss your entry, another entry, ask questions about the competition rules or process, or anything else, you can find a link to the Discussion Topic at the top of this thread. Plenty of folks there will be happy to help you out. * You are allowed only one submission, consisting of the materials specified by each competition phase. These materials must, of course, be of your own creation. If you'd like, you may collaborate with another user on a single submission, but this must be specified during Phase I. * You may make only minor edits to your entry once you have submitted it. Minor changes are things like correcting typos or making balance changes that do not alter the spirit of your entry as determined by we the moderators. If you want to make any changes and have any doubts as to their legality, ask us first. * You may not delete any posts you make in this topic. No, not even if you post here by mistake or accidentally double-post or something. Deleted posts screw with the system we use to help us calculate up-vote scores, so don't do that. If you to post here by mistake or accidentally double-post or something, simply edit your post to just say "REMOVED" and leave it at that. * You may not create your own topics on this forum for competition-related material. If everybody goes off and creates their own topics for specific discussion of their entries, this board will be flooded with nothing but, and so competition material must remain restricted to official competition topics. If you want to enter the competition with an expansion that you already have a topic about on this forum, then your topic will be locked in the interest of fairness to the other competitors. Not deleted, just locked, and it can be unlocked after your entry gets knocked out of the competition. Also, we realize that most people don't read these rules. So, if you've actually read these, feel good about yourself. You also may not reference or link to your topic in official competition topics.
* You must host your card somewhere other than Hearthcards. We encourage you to create your entry material using Hearthcards.net, but please remember that, although HearthCards is awesome, it has a limited server space and will purge cards after a few days, and nobody wants your cards disappearing part-way through the competition. After you create it, save and upload it to Imgur, Photobucket, or some other similar site. We understand that there are some Hearthcards memberships that will allow you to save your card there for longer (and you should totally get one of those just for general fan creation purposes, by the way), but we don't know who has those memberships and we can't tell from the URLs. * You may not submit any Gold cards or animated cards, nor may you include any images in your post other than the requested submission materials, like banners or borders. We get it, everybody wants their entry to stand out, but our pages are going to be heavy enough as it is without everybody heading their submissions with animated banners. * You must insert your images into your post using this icon on the bar above the post text editor: . Just click that button and put in the URL of your image. We realize that it's also possible to upload and attach images to your post. Don't do that, though. We know from experience that, because those images are much smaller and require more work to view, entries that enter their images that way just don't do as well, so this is for your own good. * Format your entry concisely by sizing your cards appropriately and placing them beside one another rather than in a column or completely separate. The first example below is acceptable while the second is not. Entries that unnecessarily inflate the size of the submission topic and make it more difficult to get through will be disqualified. How should you size your cards? Well...
Adjust cards to a width of 250, and you should be able to get three in a row!
Adjust cards to a width of 187, and you should be able to get four in a row! (wow!)
Adjust cards to a width of 150, and you should be able to get five in a row! (no way!)
Wow! What a bunch of interesting stuff that will be in the next expansion!
Good thing I left some of it in a cool spoiler so it doesn't clutter the page!
Wait, what are you doing?
Seriously, please don't.
This is painful. Why are you doing this?
You are a monster.
* "Troll" entries will be disqualified. Fun and even humorous entries are perfectly allowed (this is Hearthstone after all), but if you're worried that your entry may be misinterpreted as a troll entry, contact a moderator before you submit.
Finally, know that manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive an official warning, and will be banned from this and all future HearthPwn Card Design Competitions.
In this Phase, you will each construct your year's Third Expansion. Here are the requirements for your Year Creation Competition Phase II Entry.
FINALE TOPIC
There will be no Submission Topic for the competition Finale. Instead, you will create your own Finalist Topics. All that you have to do is create a normal topic here on the Fan Creation Forum and title it as such:
[Year Competition Finalist] Year of the APPLESAUCE (Replace APPLESAUCE with your own year's name, of course.)
Then, bring it to our attention, and we'll link to it from this topic. That's it. How you format and present your final product is entirely up to you. You've put in a lot of work to come this far, so you've earned the right to show us your completed original expansions however you think is best.
THE THIRD EXPANSION You must have the following.
1 Common card, 1 Rare card, 1 Epic card, and 1 Legendary card from each class with your set's watermark.
6 cards that are Neutral with your set's watermark. (We suggest having at least one of each rarity)
3 Wildcards. This can be from a collectable card of any rarity or class!
EXPLANATIONS Tell us a little bit about what's going on in this expansion. Are you telling the tale of glorious adventurers in a mysterious temple? or the clash between rulers in an forgotten world? or even just a little murloc happily sitting in a pond? We don't know until you tell us! Feel free to add some interesting story behind the cards you make!
EXAMPLE CARDS These don't need to be part of your Finale Topic, but by the end of the Submission Phase, you should send ShadowsOfSense9 example cards (Three from each expansion preferably), preferably via PM, to be included in the Final Poll Topic. The Final Poll topic will look very similar to this one from our first CCC, except that no token cards will be included.
COMPETITION SCHEDULE AND PROCESS
How long do you have to work on your submission? How will advancement to Phase II of the competition be determined? The answers to these questions and more can be found below...
NOTE: All stages of the competition begin and end at 22:00 UTC. ALSO NOTE: This timetable is subject to change at any time, even after the competition begins, if it seems like too many folks are struggling.
* During Submission stages, Submission Topics will be unlocked and (remaining) participants may submit their entries. During Phases I-II, you may also use this time to go ahead and up-vote submissions that you like. * During Up-Voting stages for Phases I-II, Submission Topics will be locked. Use this time to up-vote submissions that you like. Note that advancement during these Phases depends entirely on up-votes. * During Polling stages for Phases III-IV, Submission Topics will be locked, and all eligible remaining participants will have their submission material included in a separate Poll Topic to determine advancement. Phases III-IV include two Poll Topics because I anticipate we will have enough participants remaining that we will not be able to fit everybody in one Poll Topic. Note that up-votes in the Submission Topics are irrelevant to advancement during these Phases.
In the event of a tie during Phases I-IV for the last possible advancing position, all entries involved in the tie will be allowed to advance; the more the merrier, I say. We will absolutely not have more than four finalists, however, and so in the event of a tie during Phase V, the six Fan Creation Forum moderators (that is, linkblade91, Phoenixfeather, Otovent, ThisOtherGuyTox ShadowsOfSense, and PupleMD) will vote to break the tie.* In the event of a tie during Phase VI to determine the competition's winner, the title will simply be shared unless both finalists request and agree to a tie-breaking round.
*Shadows here. In an unprecedented occurrence, one of the potential finalists tied for entry into the final is a mod. I can't think of a fair way to determine which person should get the fourth spot - voting is inherently unfair, as us mods will likely hold some inherent favourable bias towards each other, and simply allowing the non-mod to pass and penalising the mod isn't fair on either of them; the mod is unfairly punished for their position, and the non-mod is given what could be viewed as 'special treatment' through no fault of their own. As such, we'll have 5 people in this final instead of 4.
REWARDS
In addition to truly epic bragging rights, ALL finalists will receive a special Forum Title and Avatar Border, similar to those given to winners of our forum's Weekly Card Design Competitions, as shown below:
Furthermore, the winning contestant will have a Season 8 competition themed around their winning year! (Probably... We're not entirely sure how to format that...)
ARCHIVES

There was a really clever fan-made mage quest were the spell was also the reward. Kripp had it also in a fan-creations video but I don't remember how it was exactly. Couldn't find it on hearthcards maybe someone remembers.
Just quests feels a bit too simple. Repeatable quest is cool but better with smaller selfmade rewards. Don't really get how the 3. example works. And don't like the last one. Doesn't feel like cooking to me. :)
@CheeseEtc I don't really like having it as an explicit Quest since it makes the mechanic seem less unique. Mechanically, my favorite is the third since it has that vibe of being a new take on Quests. Evidently, though, it's a bit unintuitive. Number 4 is simpler, which is good, but that also works against it in that it's less flashy.
I found the quest I was talking about and another one Thimzter uploaded today. Maybe they give you some ideas.
The recipe idea is quite good imo. What I don't really like is that it is permanent but you get a new copy of it. When you play it you just get the effect and ignore the 'Recipe' effect. That feels kinda unintuitive.
This is what I came up with. It is like a Quest but is also permanent. When you meet the requirement, the effect resolves and the counter goes down again. You don't get an extra card. U are just a kitchen sending out spicy treats for your opponent. :P Maybe a different word than Reward is better since it normally puts smth in your hand. Think these Recipes would need niche requirements though, since otherwise they would just speed up the game.
Ah yes! I saw this card today and I liked it! I'm kinda surprised 3 is the most well-liked option so far. For the permanent thing, well it's almost my year's theme (first expac had Rings, second had Structures) and it seems to work so far, so I don't see it as a problem.
So, Shatter and I just finished our third set and would like your opinions on it.
Caverns of Time
The Caverns of Time are a zone where time magic is most prominent, where the Bronze Dragonflight and other time wielders are located. It's this set where all 9 classes get cards to harness the power of time and cards with new, interesting mechanics.
Here are the keywords from our previous expansions as well as a brand new one introduced in this set, Turns Active: (X) found on the Shrine cards of this set.
Druid
Enchanted Forest Shrine is an example of the new Shrine mechanic. Shrines are collectable dormant cards that you put onto the battlefield and last for a set amount of your turns, counting the turn you play it as the first. Whilst on the battlefield, they give the controller a special effect. After 3 of your turns, Enchanted Forest Shrine is removed from the battlefield.
Tokens
Choose One options of Moro Wildmesa
Hunter
The "Future" cards are another new type of card in this expansion. These are spell cards that have a delayed effect. Future Strike does nothing right away when you play it, but at the start of your next turn, will give you a 3/2 Wolf with Rush for only 1 mana.
Token
Mage
The "Echo of _____" mechanic are a set of cards representing echoes of some notable characters. They have an effect that copies the last action of a specific type you played this game.
Paladin
Priest
Rogue
Wild card: Timewalker Assassin
Tokens
Created by Edwin, Defias Kingpin
Note that you will receive the new Hero Power when Edwin enters the battlefield even if the Start of Game effect doesn't trigger. Not sure about the Dagger though.
EDIT: Shatter has now confirmed that you won't equip the Dagger if the Start of Game effect doesn't trigger.
Shaman
Wild card: Ocean Shrine
Hagara's effect
Hagara's effect works much like Deathstalker Rexxar's Zombeast by combining 2 spells. Also like Rexxar, it cannot Discover spells that cost more than 5 to prevent unplayable spells. Unlike Rexxar though, the entire library of Shaman spells are available in both Discover options.
This is a general template of how the spells will look after Discovered:
The artwork uses the artwork of the first spell. X represents the combined cost of the two spells. Y represents the combined Overload of the two spells. This is simply a reminder of how much total overload is applied to the card, but the card will also be considered an Overload card for the purposes of Unbound Elemental or Ocean Shrine. All spells created by Hagara all called "Combined Spell".
If none of the spells have Overload, the "Combined Overload" statistic simply won't come up as opposed to saying "Combined Overload: (0)". Example (Earthen Might + Far Sight):
Warlock
Shatter also talked about naming Anti-Chromie "Infinite Chromie". Which 2 names do you prefer?
Warrior
Neutral
Wild card: Nozdormu, Lord of Time
Tokens
The condition varies based on your opponent's class:
The version on the left is created if your opponent is a Druid, Paladin, or Warrior.
The version on the middle is created if your opponent is a Hunter, Shaman, or Warlock.
The version on the right is created if your opponent is a Mage, Priest, or Rogue.
Showcase cards for the Year
EDIT: Forgot to clarify that Shrine cards do not count as minions. As such, they cannot be generated by cards like Evolve or Astral Rift, and they cannot be destroyed by Twisting Nether.
Edwin will not give you the Dagger if you do not trigger his Start of Game effect.
If you played a mass healing card like Circle of Healing, Echo of Tyrande will damage for the highest possible value. For example: If you healed a minion for 2 and another for 4, she'll deal 4 damage.
Chronormu does activate Start of turn effects if she is summon at that turn after the effect. For example: She will activate the Future effects again even if she is summoned after the effects go off.
So, my expansion will be called Kitchen Apocalypse and will be centered around this guy:
The expansion will be about Recipes. However I'm still undecided on which central concept I should use for it. Here are four options.
#1 - Recipes as Quests
#1 - Recipes as repeatable Quests that yields existing cards as rewards
#1 - Recipes as spells that can generate themselves under a condition, will be placed in the Quest/Secret tray (shown during P1 disc thread)
#1 - Recipes as spells that returns to your hand with a condition (shown in P1 disc thread)
(Note: all cards shown here are just to illustrate concepts, I won't necessarily use them)
I like #3 the best. The first two seems too reminiscent of Quests themselves while #4 doesn't make them unique enough for an entire new card archetype that is supposed to be a major focus in your expansion.

Overall, I like all the different themes and cycles you have going on. It gives the set more cohesiveness than your other two. My main complaint about the set is that there's a lot of cards that cheat things out and create big tempo swings, which could lead to a meta dominated my combo decks and highrolling. Also, it's off-putting that a lot of the art comes from the Arena event. Just to clarify Turns Active, I'm assuming it only counts your turns, but does it count the turn it's played? And does it die at the start or end of the Xth turn?
Hunter- The Shrine and the Legendary really are really pushing class identity. Lifegain isn't a Hunter thing at all, and Vereesa's smORC condition, though encouraged by Hunter, isn't really something specific to it. Blade Flurry is okay because it's based on a very Rogue thing- weapon buffs- but all classes hit face.
Priest- Infinite Matriarch is OP compared to Book Wyrm. For me, Echo of Tyrande would be more intuitive if it did the total healing done by things like Circle of Healing. Also, she'd be silly in Wild with Greater Healing Potion since she can go face.
Rogue- "Meeks" should be singular in Voice of the Meeks. Thousand Knives seems too strong; at just 2 casts, it's vanilla (Consecration + Arcane Intellect), and Prep exists. Edwin is pretty interesting, though it feels off to have a Hero card for a character I presume isn't central to the set's story, like Dr. Boom or Hagatha are. For the reasons I mentioned in Hunter, I'm also hesitant about the Recruits having Lifesteal.
Shaman- Echo of Thrall doesn't appeal to me because of Overloading your opponent. It outright restricts what your opponent can do, which tends to be unfun for them.
Warlock- Infinite Suppressor doesn't look like a Dragon. I don't have issue with the individual cards, but all the Silence effects interfere with class identity. I prefer Anti-Chromie if only because there are a bunch of other "Infinite..." minions.
Warrior- Dragons are already a strong Discover pool, so Dragon's Call as-is looks too strong.
Neutral- Time Tracker just looks like a combo tutor. For Noz, the Legacy spell seems disproportionately punishing. While the others are pretty much guaranteed to happen without any effort, this would be very difficult to pull off.

PHASE IV: Mini-Expansion 3
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
In this Phase, you will each construct your year's Third Expansion. Here are the requirements for your Year Creation Competition Phase II Entry.
(Replace APPLESAUCE with your own year's name, of course.)
You must have the following.
Tell us a little bit about what's going on in this expansion. Are you telling the tale of glorious adventurers in a mysterious temple? or the clash between rulers in an forgotten world? or even just a little murloc happily sitting in a pond? We don't know until you tell us! Feel free to add some interesting story behind the cards you make!
These don't need to be part of your Finale Topic, but by the end of the Submission Phase, you should send ShadowsOfSense 9 example cards (Three from each expansion preferably), preferably via PM, to be included in the Final Poll Topic. The Final Poll topic will look very similar to this one from our first CCC, except that no token cards will be included.

Maybe a different word than Reward is better since it normally puts smth in your hand. Think these Recipes would need niche requirements though, since otherwise they would just speed up the game.
Nothing. The Recipe would cast and fizzle.
Ah yes! I saw this card today and I liked it! I'm kinda surprised 3 is the most well-liked option so far. For the permanent thing, well it's almost my year's theme (first expac had Rings, second had Structures) and it seems to work so far, so I don't see it as a problem.
I'll work on this.

Not sure about the Dagger though.EDIT: Shatter has now confirmed that you won't equip the Dagger if the Start of Game effect doesn't trigger.
An example of how it would look like (Lightning Storm + Healing Rain)
If none of the spells have Overload, the "Combined Overload" statistic simply won't come up as opposed to saying "Combined Overload: (0)". Example (Earthen Might + Far Sight):
Warlock
Shatter also talked about naming Anti-Chromie "Infinite Chromie". Which 2 names do you prefer?
Warrior
Neutral
Wild card: Nozdormu, Lord of Time

Showcase cards for the Year
EDIT: Forgot to clarify that Shrine cards do not count as minions. As such, they cannot be generated by cards like Evolve or Astral Rift, and they cannot be destroyed by Twisting Nether.
EDIT 2: Updated stuff.

It's scary how quicky you two make expansions.

Hey, I made the future cycle for my first expansion...
please consider voting for my custom class in the fan creations competition :]
• TRIALS IN AUCHINDOUN - A Custom Hearthstone Adventure (4th Wing!) • New and Interesting Hearthstone Mechanics (by me!) •
I like #3 the best. The first two seems too reminiscent of Quests themselves while #4 doesn't make them unique enough for an entire new card archetype that is supposed to be a major focus in your expansion.

@Demonxz95/Shatterstar1998 Excessive feedback incoming:
Mage- Alex's Fury + Wisp = 7 Mana Pyroblast.
