This is the Discussion Topic. The Submission Topic is here!
The following 21 competitors have made it through to Phase II
(Ignore the terrible layout, I was in a rush -Shadows)
Linkblade91 watched in frustration as Linkblade98 suddenly disappeared from existence. The temporal loop had been growing. Despite Chromie’s best efforts to keep the future Linkblades intact and existent, the Infinite Dragonflight continued to Chronoshot them. A little gnome spontaneously slipped into existence startling the annoyed Linkblade.
“CHROMIE, I SWAARFF… You’re not her... You are?”
The gnome, wearing a strange monocle and constantly fiddling with a dozen whirling gears, blatantly ignored the question and started typing on Linkblade91’s computer.
Hi there! Toki here! Heehee, this is so awesome. I’m glad you made it here to Phase II, unlike a few fellow Hearthpwners who seem to run into the aforementioned paradoxes. Anyway, Chromie promised me a new Emboldener 3000 if I helped set the first expansion of this missing year in place. Well, not the entirety of the expansion, just a portion of it. Some things still need to be left to the will of Steins;Gate rng. We’ll only need a card of each rarity from each class and six neutrals… and we wouldn’t mind a few more to spice things up. Thanks!
Also, has anyone seen this gnome?
GENERAL RULES
Even if you're already a veteran of our competitions here on the Fan Creation Forum, you should read the general rules before you get started. This competition does introduce new rules, like image limitations and formatting requirements.
* The Submission Topic is for submissions only. If you want to discuss your entry, another entry, ask questions about the competition rules or process, or anything else, you can find a link to the Discussion Topic at the top of this thread. Plenty of folks there will be happy to help you out. * You are allowed only one submission, consisting of the materials specified by each competition phase. These materials must, of course, be of your own creation. If you'd like, you may collaborate with another user on a single submission, but this must be specified during Phase I. * You may make only minor edits to your entry once you have submitted it. Minor changes are things like correcting typos or making balance changes that do not alter the spirit of your entry as determined by we the moderators. If you want to make any changes and have any doubts as to their legality, ask us first. * You may not delete any posts you make in this topic. No, not even if you post here by mistake or accidentally double-post or something. Deleted posts screw with the system we use to help us calculate up-vote scores, so don't do that. If you to post here by mistake or accidentally double-post or something, simply edit your post to just say "REMOVED" and leave it at that. * You may not create your own topics on this forum for competition-related material. If everybody goes off and creates their own topics for specific discussion of their entries, this board will be flooded with nothing but, and so competition material must remain restricted to official competition topics. If you want to enter the competition with an expansion that you already have a topic about on this forum, then your topic will be locked in the interest of fairness to the other competitors. Not deleted, just locked, and it can be unlocked after your entry gets knocked out of the competition. Also, we realize that most people don't read these rules. So, if you've actually read these, feel good about yourself. You also may not reference or link to your topic in official competition topics.
* You must host your card somewhere other than Hearthcards. We encourage you to create your entry material using Hearthcards.net, but please remember that, although HearthCards is awesome, it has a limited server space and will purge cards after a few days, and nobody wants your cards disappearing part-way through the competition. After you create it, save and upload it to Imgur, Photobucket, or some other similar site. We understand that there are some Hearthcards memberships that will allow you to save your card there for longer (and you should totally get one of those just for general fan creation purposes, by the way), but we don't know who has those memberships and we can't tell from the URLs. * You may not submit any Gold cards or animated cards, nor may you include any images in your post other than the requested submission materials, like banners or borders. We get it, everybody wants their entry to stand out, but our pages are going to be heavy enough as it is without everybody heading their submissions with animated banners. * You must insert your images into your post using this icon on the bar above the post text editor: . Just click that button and put in the URL of your image. We realize that it's also possible to upload and attach images to your post. Don't do that, though. We know from experience that, because those images are much smaller and require more work to view, entries that enter their images that way just don't do as well, so this is for your own good. * Format your entry concisely by sizing your cards appropriately and placing them beside one another rather than in a column or completely separate. The first example below is acceptable while the second is not. Entries that unnecessarily inflate the size of the submission topic and make it more difficult to get through will be disqualified. How should you size your cards? Well...
Adjust cards to a width of 250, and you should be able to get three in a row!
Adjust cards to a width of 187, and you should be able to get four in a row! (wow!)
Adjust cards to a width of 150, and you should be able to get five in a row! (no way!)
Wow! What a bunch of interesting stuff that will be in the next expansion!
Good thing I left some of it in a cool spoiler so it doesn't clutter the page!
Wait, what are you doing?
Seriously, please don't.
This is painful. Why are you doing this?
You are a monster.
* "Troll" entries will be disqualified. Fun and even humorous entries are perfectly allowed (this is Hearthstone after all), but if you're worried that your entry may be misinterpreted as a troll entry, contact a moderator before you submit.
Finally, know that manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive an official warning, and will be banned from this and all future HearthPwn Card Design Competitions.
Congrats! After a long and dangerous journey, you've successfully avoided time paradoxes to continue your journey to fixing the timeline. At least most of you did. If you found yourself Sapped, Eviscerated, Chronoshot, in the Twisting Nether, DOOM!ed, Counterspelled, or otherwise nonexistent, you're probably too temporally damaged to sue us anyway.
In this Phase, you will each construct your year's First Expansion. Here are the requirements for your Year Creation Competition Phase II Entry.
THE FIRST EXPANSION You must have the following.
1 Common card, 1 Rare card, 1 Epic card, and 1 Legendary card from each class with your set's watermark.
Dual class cards can be counted towards either of its classes, so long as there are a total of 1 of each rarity for each class.
No cards can go beyond Legendary rarity. We don't want megawhalep2w rulers in the meta.
6 cards that are Neutral with your set's watermark. (We suggest having at least one of each rarity)
3 Wildcards. This can be a collectable card of any rarity or class!
Really looking to showcase a particular archetype? Are there super-duper important cards that just need to be seen? Want three more Shaman cards simply because you can? Whatever works for you.
TEN (10) EXAMPLE CARDS - You will show off ten (10) cards. For this phase, there is no restriction on what rarities must be shown, so choose your absolute best! The other cards must be included behind a spoiler(s). Please make sure the cards are smaller than 250x400 to keep them reasonably sized.
KEYWORDS - With every new expansion, there are bound to be a ton of keywords to keep things interesting. Post and explain them!
STORY - Tell us a little bit about what's going on in this expansion. Are you telling the tale of glorious adventurers in a mysterious temple? The clash between rulers in an forgotten world? Or even just a little murloc happily sitting in a pond? We don't know until you tell us! Feel free to add some interesting story behind the cards you make!
CARD EXPLANATIONS - Well, we want to see what reasons you have for making your cards. Talk about them and what possible uses they have.
NO SINGLE-PLAYER CONTENT
Just to reiterate: do not bring up Single Player Content. Chromie managed to salvage content from each expansion, so you don't have to! Don't go out of your way to make any, as it is simply not allowed.
NO REUSING SUBMISSIONS FROM PRIOR COMPETITIONS
If you made it to this point you presumably followed the rules, but just to be sure: don't copy-paste content you submitted from prior Big Comps. Chromie's looking for fresh ideas, people!
COMPETITION SCHEDULE AND PROCESS
How long do you have to work on your submission? How will advancement to Phase II of the competition be determined? The answers to these questions and more can be found below...
PHASE IV: Third Expansion Submission: TBD Finale: TBD
NOTE: All stages of the competition begin and end at 21:00 UTC. ALSO NOTE: This timetable is subject to change at any time, even after the competition begins, if it seems like too many folks are struggling.
* During Submission stages, Submission Topics will be unlocked and (remaining) participants may submit their entries. During Phases I-II, you may also use this time to go ahead and up-vote submissions that you like. * During Up-Voting stages for Phases I-II, Submission Topics will be locked. Use this time to up-vote submissions that you like. Note that advancement during these Phases depends entirely on up-votes. * During Polling stages for Phases III-IV, Submission Topics will be locked, and all eligible remaining participants will have their submission material included in a separate Poll Topic to determine advancement. Phases III-IV include two Poll Topics because I anticipate we will have enough participants remaining that we will not be able to fit everybody in one Poll Topic. Note that up-votes in the Submission Topics are irrelevant to advancement during these Phases.
How will eliminations be done, and how many competitors will advance from each phase to the next?
I'm glad you asked! We will be taking a equal proportion of competitors from each Phase of the competition to the next, and we will be ending with exactly four finalists. That being the case and their being five total eliminations before the final round, that proportion can be found by solving for x: [# of valid Phase I entries] * x^3 = 4 The higher the number of valid Phase I entries, the lower that proportion becomes. Just so you have an idea, the proportion hits 50% when we hit 128 entries, which is likely, but it only hits 33.3% when we hit 972 entries, which is less likely.
As mentioned above, advancement to Phases II and III will be determined by up-votes only. However, these up-votes are weighted using a formula identical to the process used by our Weekly Card Design Competitions: (ab) / (c) = x (Where a is the total number of up-votes that your submission received, b is the total number of valid submissions on the same page as your submission, c is the total number of up-votes on valid submissions on the same page as your submission, and x is your submission's final weighted up-vote score.) Why bother with this formula rather than just taking each submissions up-votes directly? Because earlier pages simply get a lot more views that later pages do, and we do not want rushed, early submissions to have an advantage over later submissions that took more time to get their entries just right. The formula basically measures which submissions stood out the most, with the necessary assumption that each page is about equal in overall submission quality. The bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible, because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score.
As mentioned above, advancement to Phases IV, V, and VI will be determined by polls. These polls will be multi-choice, meaning that voters can vote for every entry that they like. Whenever we have to split a Phase's poll into two to make it more manageable for voters, advancement will be determined by looking at each years final percentage scores, not by looking at the direct number of votes they received, since we can't guarantee that the same number of voters will vote each day. Poll results will always be hidden until the poll has concluded, and for polls split in two, this does also mean that the results of the first poll will not be revealed until the second poll has concluded as well.
The winner of Phase IV, and thus the entire competition, will be determined by a poll much like the ones before, except that it will be single-choice, requiring voters to pick their single year, and will have a much longer polling phase than usual to give us plenty of opportunity for promotion and such.
In the event of a tie during Phases I-IV for the last possible advancing position, all entries involved in the tie will be allowed to advance; the more the merrier, I say. We will absolutely not have more than four finalists, however, and so in the event of a tie during Phase V, the three Fan Creation Forum moderators (that is, Cogito_Ergo_Sum, ShadowsOfSense, and PupleMD) will vote to break the tie. In the event of a tie during Phase VI to determine the competition's winner, the title will simply be shared unless both finalists request and agree to a tie-breaking round.
But wait, there's more! During Phases I-IV of the Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderator (ShadowsOfSense, PupleMD, Phoenixfeather, ThisOtherGuyTox, Otovent, linkblade91) will have a Wild Card, which we may (though are not required to) use to advance to the next Phase any one entry that we feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated, regardless of its performance with voters. No entry may be awarded a Wild Card more than once, and it should also go without saying that, while some moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, they are never allowed to benefit from Wild Cards. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun.
Are you curious what will be required for future phases of the competition? The challenges will remain a secret, but I'm happy to tell you the general submission requirements.
Just kidding. There are no challenges this time around :D
PHASE III: Mini-Expansion 2
In this Phase, you will each construct your year's Second Expansion. Here are the requirements for your Year Creation Competition Phase II Entry.
THE SECOND EXPANSION You must have the following.
1 Common card, 1 Rare card, 1 Epic card, and 1 Legendary card from each class with your set's watermark.
6 cards that are Neutral with your set's watermark. (We suggest having at least one of each rarity)
3 Wildcards. This can be from a collectable card of any rarity or class!
EXPLANATIONS Tell us a little bit about what's going on in this expansion. Are you telling the tale of glorious adventurers in a mysterious temple? or the clash between rulers in an forgotten world? or even just a little murloc happily sitting in a pond? We don't know until you tell us! Feel free to add some interesting story behind the cards you make!
PHASE IV: Mini-Expansion 3
In this Phase, you will each construct your year's Third Expansion. Here are the requirements for your Year Creation Competition Phase II Entry.
FINALE TOPIC There will be no Submission Topic for the competition Finale. Instead, you will create your own Finalist Topics. All that you have to do is create a normal topic here on the Fan Creation Forum and title it as such: [Class Competition Finalist] Year of the APPLESAUCE (Replace APPLESAUCE with your own year's name, of course.) Then, bring it to our attention, and we'll link to it from this topic. That's it. How you format and present your final product is entirely up to you. You've put in a lot of work to come this far, so you've earned the right to show us your completed original expansions however you think is best.
THE THIRD EXPANSION You must have the following.
We don't know until you tell us! Feel free to add some interesting story behind the cards you make!
EXAMPLE CARDS These don't need to be part of your Finale Topic, but by the end of the Submission Phase, you should send ShadowsOfSense9 example cards (Three from each expansion preferably), preferably via PM, to be included in the Final Poll Topic. The Final Poll topic will look very similar to this one from our first CCC, except that no token cards will be included.
REWARDS
In addition to truly epic bragging rights, ALL finalists will receive a special Forum Title and Avatar Border, similar to those given to winners of our forum's Weekly Card Design Competitions, as shown below:
Furthermore, the winning contestant will have a Season 8 competition themed around their winning year! (Probably... We're not entirely sure how to format that...)
ARCHIVES
Want to see how things went during our Expansion Competition to get a glimmer of what could happend? Want to see what the different Winners and Submitters from each phase came up with? Then check out the links below!
I have a few ideas for the first expansion... Aside from the whole treasure business, I want to make Coin Rogue a thing. To that end;
I don't really know if I totally like Time to Collect because it's a little wordy. I could go for Coin transformation, but I'm not entirely sure what cards I should be looking to transform Coins into that have value—spells, or minions? Mercenaries that you hire with your coins, or something to do with Treasures? Additionally, I'm doing a cross-class rare spell cycle, sort of like spellstones. They're meant to be useful/powerful effects that take effect on your next turn and last for that turn.
Lastly, Treasures. These are the bottom card of your deck, so they have to be powerful yet reliant on you having a plan after you run out of a deck. These are the only ones I plan to make for classes, I'll be doing 'normal' legendaries for the other classes.
Appreciate feedback and ideas on direction for these cards, will return it. :)
I was in first place for a couple days, until the last minute *shakes fist* :P
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
Well done to everyone that made it. Commiserations to those who didn't.
A big thank you to the people who voted for the year of the butterfly!
My question would be which of the 3 expansions people want to see first? I've been working on all three simultaneously to make sure they synergise but Fractured Time has the most creations so far.
Here are a couple of my ideas so far if anyone has any input?
Warrior will implement an archetype where Armor can become a resource to unlock a card's effect or improve it.
Rogue will venture into some time bandit chicanery stealing your opponent's unspent resources to enable more powerful combos.
Paladin will push the archetype of using Silver Hand Recruits as enablers rather than just minions.
Wont get chance to respond to people until tomorrow as it's 23:00 here but again well done people and I'll catch up with the discussion tomorrow!
So, Shatter and I actually finished this set before Phase II even begun. There's going to be a lot of stuff to go over, but we would appreciate your feedback. Worth mentioning that this is actually the second set of the year, not the first. We just worked on this one first. This is Once Upon a Time in Azeroth, this set has a theme of fairy tales and mythology.
In this set, each class is getting a new Legendary spell card, a "Story" card. Story cards have an effect that happen when the game starts and also have an addition effect when you play them. It also introduces the new mechanic: Legacy.
Druid
Story tokens:
Persepholes is our first Wild card.
Other tokens:
Demeter's Sorrow - Choose One options for Demeter's Sorrow.
Mortal Harvest and Divine Harvert - Choose One options for Maiden of Harvest.
Blessing of Death and Blessing of Life - Choose One options for Underworld's Blessing (which itself is created my A Marriage of Life and Death).
Gift of Death and Gift of Decay - Choose One options for Persepholes.
Hunter
Story tokens:
Other tokens:
Mage
The Snow Queen is another wild card.
Story tokens:
After you play Strength, Beauty and Intelligence, Snow White, Dwarven Princess is added to your hand.
Other tokens:
Paladin
Arthur, Wise King is our third Wild card.
Story tokens:
Arthur, Wise King as well as the Young King Arthur tokens from Merlin's Time Portal + other cards will activate Sword in the Stone and will not be damaged by Excalibur. Thought Young King Arthur himself isn't created by the story card, he is important to the story, so I felt including him here was necessary.
Priest
Story tokens:
Other tokens:
True Love Kiss is also created by a Neutral card, hence why it's a Neutral token.
Because this is the second expansion, Elusive already debut in our first planned expansion (Nightmare on the Nether). Prince Charming is stronger than he looks.
Also worth mentioning the fact that this expansion, per tradition of the latest expansions, will give each players a random Story. This explain the creation of a few Common cards (most notably Merlin's Time Portal) since we want new players a cheap (but obviously not TOO powerful) way to experience the main mechanic of the expansion.
Hey! I actually made it! Well then, let's get this started! I know it's a ton, be free to rate whatever card you want... feedback is appreciated!
YEAR OF THE RAM
ORIGINAL POST
The breaking of time has made everyone go wild! Alliances are made and broken, betrayals left and right, unlikely friends and expected foes! And all this at a blinding fast pace! It's a free-for-all; and you're in the middle of it!
This expansion's main theme is tribe wars ! What's a tribe, though? Well, a minion can assigned a tribe, often having interactions with it. Some of these would be Beasts, Dragons, Elementals, and such. And in this weird time strange alliances are forged, unlikely tribe combinations rise. Which is the main mechanic of this expansion! Imagine, if you will, decks consisting of Beasts and Murlocs! or Dragons and Mechs! or a deck with all known tribes! Possibilities are endless- well not really. So what's new?
Dual-tribe cards! Think of all kind of weird card combinations... Murloc-Demons, Mech-Beasts, Dragon-Mechs, and more!
New keyword: Muster . A card with Muster will gain a bonus effect when played if you control a minion with an certain tribe tag!
New Keyword: Enlist . When a minion is Enlisted , you will be able to choose (from Beast, Murloc, Mech and Pirate) a new tribe for it to enlist to!
New build-around cards that will lead to some new wacky tribe-combination decks!
How does Enlist work?
Simple, when you play a card with draft, or you draft a minion, this will pop up:
You just have to Choose One of them and the Drafted minion is nor from that Tribe!
"What's that? Why no choosing Demons, Totems, Elementals or Dragons? Well for one, most of these will be summons, but do expect some new synergies with them. Secondly, most also have a very special kind of interaction with other minion of their tribe. So, I've stuck to the four OG neutral tribes."
Some cards to get started:
Some notes:
Right now I'm considering making almost all dual-tribe cards Legendaries, which is why there's a lack of them.
I'm missing some Enlist cards. I didn't plan any more of them yet.
Even though I want all classes to try to use all tribes, they will still use a few of them more widely. A list of what I have planned:

Nice job!
A few comments:
Mushu, Rock King: What does "become untargetable" mean?
Automatic Totemcarver uses the same artwork as the Repair Bot token from Gelbin Mekkatorque. Might be a good idea to change it.
Unless you play on making Neutral or non-Shaman class Totems, Clayton, All-Hunter may as well just be a Shaman card because only Shamans have Totems (except for Nightmare Amalgam).
Darksea Cultist: Warlocks getting weapons at the common level seems a little weird, but they already have them at all, so I suppose it goes. As a Pirate, it does make sense.
Daredevil: This card is fantastic except that the tribal tag looks odd.
Overall I do quite like this "multi-tribe" thing you've got going on, kinda like the Menagerie cards from Karazhan, but I like this better.
I think Elementals would be a good fit as your third Priest tribe.
First of all, congrats for advancing to the second phase :)
I've always loved the idea of coin rogue, it's so flavorful and interesting but this archetype most likely cannot co-exist alongside Gadgetzan Auctioneer which you haven't moved to Hall of Fame so there's that. Time to Collect is cool, I don't think it's too wordy or anything. I'm afraid I don't like Cap'n Garvey though because he's referencing to a specific card from past expansion, I think that can only work with Basic/Classic cards (for example Lady in White = Inner Fire, Ghastly Conjurer = Mirror Image)
Holiday cards are rather interesting, I like the idea of setting-up your next turn for something specific. It may end up being too slow for Tempostone though sladly because it does essentialy nothing when first played (I have the same problem with my Location cards right now, but that's for phase 3)
Are all Treasure cards Weapons? If so, why is that? I don't think you need to restrain yourself there
Oh god. Gadgetzan Auctioneer. That one card goddamn ruins it. Even if I were to move Auctioneer into HoF, it would still exist in Wild, and it would be insane. That said, Blizzard makes changes to cards when it moves them to the Hall of Fame sometimes, and makes changes within the wild format... Question then: Would I be allowed to a nerf an existing card and then put it in the Hall of Fame? Second question: Are our Hall of Fame choices locked in? There doesn't seem to be anywhere in the second phase to mention which cards that are 'problem' cards that are being moved. A third idea is to simply send another Rogue card into the Hall of Fame and replace it with WANTED! I don't necessarily see a problem with Rogue's classic set, but it seems fair enough to do. Third question: Has Blizzard actually ever rotated an expansion card into the Classic set? It was an option in the first phase, but I don't remember it happening? I'm attached to the ol' Garvey for flavour reasons... He's taking out the bounties on all the enemies, he's a pirate bounty hunter.
I certainly hope I can slow down the meta with the cards enough that they can be used. I think the Shaman one might even be a little overpowered, as it's basically ramp.
No, I don't know. It was easiest to come up with art and effects for weapons and it made sense in the sense that you're digging up stashed artifacts. Some of these could certainly be legendary spells or even minions, but the effects made sense on weapons for at least these classes, and so that's what I'm mostly showing. I think I may use my 3 extra cards to just show legendaries, because I need to iterate what the set is all about through the keyword and the lack of it.
Demon, I hate to say this, but I'm finding a lot of these cards extremely overpowered. I mean, Ragnarok is pretty easily triggered. There are existing control Warriors that can easily stack up to 20+ Armor or more, and the fact that you can just use Violet Illusionist in wild (if it survives behind taunts) to win the game is really unfun as other classes can't protect themselves from your health total as a source of ultimate destruction. I feel if all these Story cards get added to the game as they are that everything will get REALLY aggro and silly as people just complete the stories (easier to complete than quests) to get an effect that is in most cases infinitely better than a quest reward. I will have more comments on the good parts later!
Vilegloom: I can say I am really impressed with your implementation of tribe synergies, and I have nothing but good things to say (yet!) but I'll go into it in further detail later. :)
Hey! I actually made it! Well then, let's get this started! I know it's a ton, be free to rate whatever card you want... feedback is appreciated!

Druid: Beasts, Dragons, Elementals.
Hunter: Beasts, Dragons, Murlocs/Mechs.
Mage: Mechs, Elementals, Dragons.
Priest: Dragons, Mechs... tbd.
Paladin: Murlocs, Dragons, Pirates.
Shaman: Mechs, Totems, Murlocs.
Rogue: Mechs, Elementals, Pirates.
Warlock: Pirates, Murlocs, Demons.
Warrior: Dragons, Pirates, Mechs.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll try giving my feedback back as soon as I can.
On this a few things:
"Untargetable" is supposed to mean Permanent, like Mark Moonwalker in the Party Portals Taver Brawl. I guess I used the wrong wording.
I am looking to bring some Neutral Totems to the table right now. Keep an eye out for that! :)
Well, I'm trying to use PS on it to make it look better. We'll see how it turns out!
Some notes:

If dual tribe is going to be a major theme of your expansion, you need a better UI for them because the UI for Daredevil seems like a mess. I think that just letting the minion's tribe changing when it is in your hand everytime you hover over it would be good enough (Ex: The first time you hover over it, it's a Pirate. Second time, a Demon. Or even a third / fourth / fifth etc. tribe if you want to.
As Demon has said before, Priest can have Elemental as their third tribe, most notably Light Elementals (Lightspawn all the way from the Classic set, Radiant Elemental, Lyra the Sunshard)
Unless you release Neutral Totem generator, Clayton should become a Shaman card.
You need better art for the Pirate Enlist option. The art right now looks more like a giant standing near a cliff, which is the opposite of sea-dwelling Pirate.
Oh boy, 21st place, right at the cutoff. Thanks to everyone who supported my submission, with votes or feedback! I didn't think I'd make it, and I literally wouldn't have without each one of you.

Coin Rogue is something that seems like a long time coming, but I find it a bit worrisome balance-wise. Being able to create lots of Coins has issues- there's the aforementioned Auctioneer along with Edwin, making Combos in general too easy and non-strategic, and even the possibility of serious Rogue ramp. Your cards do show caution, though. The flavor on the Legendary in particular is great; my concern with him is just that he creates a card that won't necessarily be in Standard at the same time as he is. Yes, Toki exists, but you don't need to know any specific Wild cards to make sense of her.
I like the idea of the holidays. They encourage some planning and build-around. As for the specific cards, the fact that the Shaman one ramps is odd to me- that's a Druid thing- and the Priest one is rather weak. You're spending most of your turn for no immediate effect, and the effect next turn doesn't even do much, just changes what cards you get. The Hunter one is fine, though, given you're bringing back empty-hand synergies.
The Treasures are also neat. I like how Gul'dan's Locket synergizes with fatigue. It's a little weird that they need other cards to fully function, but you'll have cards that pull them early, so I guess that's fine.
@Tomerick88
Class themes seem interesting, exploring new design space. The golem might benefit from being more Health-heavy so he doesn't suffer from the Rager issue, but no complaints on the Warrior or Rogue cards otherwise. I assume the Recruiter is supposed to say "Fate", not "Phase". In Hearthstone, though, minions often don't last two turns, making him a bit underwhelming. It's fine otherwise, though.
@Demonxz95
Don't have time to look at all those, so I just have a question about Legacy: does it count the card with Legacy itself? If I play a minion with, say, 'Legacy 2: gain +1 Health' and then Innervate, will it gain the Health?
@Vilegloom
I share all of Demon's concerns, though I'm a bit more put-off by Darksea Cultist. I don't count Skull of the Man'ari as a "Warlock weapon" since it can't attack, nor Atiesh since its main purpose is the effect. That's mainly a personal thing, though. In Clayton, "Game" needs to be capitalized. I do agree that the multi tribe cards should be higher rarities, Rare at minimum, though I don't think they need to be Legendary. Overall, your cards are pretty solid.
@Progenitor: Legacy minions do not trigger off of themselves, much like how Knife Juggler or Questing Adventurer do not trigger off of themselves when they're played. This can be noted by cards like Inspired Villager. In the case of cards like Wrath of Zeus though, I believe Spell Legacy effects on spells do count themselves towards the Legacy requirement as the spell casts the entire card text, which is how the "cast this again" cards from KotFT worked. Wrath of Zeus's Legacy effect can be summed up as "for every second spell you cast this turn, cast this again" and it would register the initial casting of WoZ as the first spell you play that turn. Look at this:
cast WoZ > cast another spell (triggers WoZ) > cast another spell > cast another spell (triggers WoZ) > cast another spell > cast another spell (triggers WoZ) > and so on.

Oh thanks for noticing that it is supposed to say fate yes. I did a time themed expansion a couple of years ago and phase was a keyword then that did something completely different must have got mixed up due to being tired.
I should say Fate does not require the minion to survive and can appear on a spell too. Once the fate is set nothing can change it. Pretty much like real life fate.
Demeters sorrow: seems OP. Druid doesn't normally get great AoE and then you also have the chance to stall a turn for certain decks too.
Persepholes: needs to specify when in the turn the choice is made. At he start of the turn or end?
The great ark: ambiguous wording for both the ark and the Noah card. The ark does not specify whether you need a certain quantity of minions costed 1-6 or one of each or what. The Noah doesn't explain what it does at all. Repopulate means nothing in Hearthstone. This is fine I suppose as there are real cards that have done that but personally that type of card puts me off in creation competitions.
There's also the fact that it is so blatantly a Christian story which I'm guessing does not take place in Warcraft lore which I may be wrong about. Hearthstone is a multicultural appealing game.
Snow queen: needs to say how many turns they are frozen. "Effect" should be effects too.
Rewrite the story: Really like that idea
All the King Arthur stuff overall is not too interesting mechanically and feels out of place thematically. When Hearthstone/Warcraft use classic stories from outside wow lore they usually change names and make it more of an Easter egg.
True Love's Kiss rather than Love.
At this point I'm going to stop doing any more individual card feedback because I feel I might not be the right person to do it. I'm finding that the theme itself doesn't really gel with me because they are all straight plagiarised fairytales/fables without an attempt to change names or warcrafify it. I don't want to just keep making the same point because the cards all work pretty well and you guys are definitely good creators as I've seen your work and appreciated it many times. It's just the theme for this particular expansion that's not working for me.
The only other criticism I have beyond the theme, which is just my opinion, is that it is extremely token heavy which will make it difficult for you to get across in the submission what anything does. You are putting a lot of onus on the reader to investigate and I don't know if the base cards are interesting enough to prompt people to route through the token spoilers.
I wish you both good luck nonetheless as it obviously took a lot of time.
Persepholes: needs to specify when in the turn the choice is made. At he start of the turn or end?
Effects that use similarly wording and don't specify a specific time generally trigger at the start of the turn (for example, Death's Shadow), so it's implied that Persepholes' effect triggers at the start. Running out of space too. The start is also the only time it makes sense because otherwise it's easily just a 10 mana 2/2.
You need one of each. Otherwise it would be too stupid and hard. Admittedly, I do agree with you about the "repopulate Azeroth!" thing, although I suppose it's flavorful.
There's also the fact that it is so blatantly a Christian story which I'm guessing does not take place in Warcraft lore which I may be wrong about. Hearthstone is a multicultural appealing game.
No, it doesn't, but this is intentionally not a WoW-focused set. If you look at MSoG, pretty much the only things that tie it back to WoW is Gadgetzan and a few cards, so it's not like this is unbelievable by the standards. I myself am also not a religious person at all, so I don't see where you're going with the point of the Christian story.
All the King Arthur stuff overall is not too interesting mechanically and feels out of place thematically. When Hearthstone/Warcraft use classic stories from outside wow lore they usually change names and make it more of an Easter egg.
Do you mean out of place thematically with WoW or with the rest of the set. If you mean with WoW, then why is this out of place but everything else isn't? If you mean with the rest of the set, then I don't see that at all, and I don't think very many people would agree with you.
Thanks. Our other themes are definitely more WoW themed if this makes anything better. I wouldn't call this plagiarised though. It's not like we're taking fairy tale characters and claiming them as our own. We've fully acknowledged that all of this is based on famous fairy tales and other mythology.
Thanks I'll definitely take you up on that once I've finished an expansion.
Plagiarised was was probably the wrong word I meant more in a way of copy-pasted/unoriginal. The difference between Noah's Ark and Gadgetzan is not just that it isn't based on existing wow lore it is also that Gadgetzan was a hearthstone flavoured original theme based on a warcraft location.
my point around Noah's Ark being a bible story is that I very much doubt Blizzard would have such a blatant religious story in their game without attempting to amend it to match the setting. They will be mindful of diversity also and would not want to be seen to be excluding other religions which let's face it there are some vocal groups out there who would claim was the case. If you are going with the Noah thing though perhaps the ark would be better if it required you to use pairs of the same beast. Maybe 3 pairs?
I hope the feedback didn't seem pedantic because I definitely don't intend it that way. Lots of respect for what you achieved in the last competition.

Some things still need to be left to the will of
Steins;Gaterng.
Well...
Hey, look! It's the Year of the Applesauce!
Open the Waygate: Look at how nice this is.
Frost Lich Jaina: All neat, organized, and concise.
Aluneth: What a great post.
PHASE II: Mini-Expansion 1
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS
You must have the following.
COMPETITION SCHEDULE AND PROCESS
How long do you have to work on your submission? How will advancement to Phase II of the competition be determined? The answers to these questions and more can be found below...
PHASE I: Year Introduction
Submission: 28/June - 10/July
Up-Voting: 10/July - 11/July
PHASE II: First Expansion
Submission: 11/July - 31/July
Up-Voting: 31/July - 1/August
PHASE III: Second Expansion
Submission: TBD
Poll #1: TBD
Poll #2: TBD
PHASE IV: Third Expansion
Submission: TBD
Finale: TBD
That being the case and their being five total eliminations before the final round, that proportion can be found by solving for x:
[# of valid Phase I entries] * x^3 = 4
The higher the number of valid Phase I entries, the lower that proportion becomes. Just so you have an idea, the proportion hits 50% when we hit 128 entries, which is likely, but it only hits 33.3% when we hit 972 entries, which is less likely.
As mentioned above, advancement to Phases II and III will be determined by up-votes only. However, these up-votes are weighted using a formula identical to the process used by our Weekly Card Design Competitions:
(ab) / (c) = x
(Where a is the total number of up-votes that your submission received, b is the total number of valid submissions on the same page as your submission, c is the total number of up-votes on valid submissions on the same page as your submission, and x is your submission's final weighted up-vote score.)
Why bother with this formula rather than just taking each submissions up-votes directly?
You must have the following.
Tell us a little bit about what's going on in this expansion.
There will be no Submission Topic for the competition Finale. Instead, you will create your own Finalist Topics. All that you have to do is create a normal topic here on the Fan Creation Forum and title it as such:
[Class Competition Finalist] Year of the APPLESAUCE
(Replace APPLESAUCE with your own year's name, of course.)
Then, bring it to our attention, and we'll link to it from this topic. That's it. How you format and present your final product is entirely up to you. You've put in a lot of work to come this far, so you've earned the right to show us your completed original expansions however you think is best.
You must have the following.
Tell us a little bit about what's going on in this expansion. Are you telling the tale of glorious adventurers in a mysterious temple? or the clash between rulers in an forgotten world? or even just a little murloc happily sitting in a pond? We don't know until you tell us! Feel free to add some interesting story behind the cards you make!
These don't need to be part of your Finale Topic, but by the end of the Submission Phase, you should send ShadowsOfSense 9 example cards (Three from each expansion preferably), preferably via PM, to be included in the Final Poll Topic.

I have a few ideas for the first expansion... Aside from the whole treasure business, I want to make Coin Rogue a thing. To that end;

Rogue
Story tokens:
Shaman
Story tokens:
Warlock
Story tokens:
Warrior
Story tokens:
Neutral
Nightmare Amalgam
PHEW!!! That took a long time.

Because Demon forgot to post:
Because this is the second expansion, Elusive already debut in our first planned expansion (Nightmare on the Nether). Prince Charming is stronger than he looks.
Also worth mentioning the fact that this expansion, per tradition of the latest expansions, will give each players a random Story. This explain the creation of a few Common cards (most notably Merlin's Time Portal) since we want new players a cheap (but obviously not TOO powerful) way to experience the main mechanic of the expansion.
Yes, Echidna has the "All" tribal tag of Nightmare Amalgam.

How does Enlist work?
Simple, when you play a card with draft, or you draft a minion, this will pop up:
You just have to Choose One of them and the Drafted minion is nor from that Tribe!
"What's that? Why no choosing Demons, Totems, Elementals or Dragons? Well for one, most of these will be summons, but do expect some new synergies with them. Secondly, most also have a very special kind of interaction with other minion of their tribe. So, I've stuck to the four OG neutral tribes."
Some cards to get started:
Some notes:
Warrior: Dragons, Pirates, Mechs.
Nice job!
A few comments:

Oh boy, 21st place, right at the cutoff. Thanks to everyone who supported my submission, with votes or feedback! I didn't think I'd make it, and I literally wouldn't have without each one of you.
Some feedback on what's been posted so far:
@teknician
@Tomerick88
@Demonxz95
Don't have time to look at all those, so I just have a question about Legacy: does it count the card with Legacy itself? If I play a minion with, say, 'Legacy 2: gain +1 Health' and then Innervate, will it gain the Health?
@Vilegloom

You need one of each. Otherwise it would be too stupid and hard. Admittedly, I do agree with you about the "repopulate Azeroth!" thing, although I suppose it's flavorful.
It says "for an extra turn". Good catch on that grammar mistake though.
Thanks. You can thank me because I'm the one who made that card.
Do you mean out of place thematically with WoW or with the rest of the set. If you mean with WoW, then why is this out of place but everything else isn't? If you mean with the rest of the set, then I don't see that at all, and I don't think very many people would agree with you.
Thanks for the catch.
Thanks. Our other themes are definitely more WoW themed if this makes anything better. I wouldn't call this plagiarised though. It's not like we're taking fairy tale characters and claiming them as our own. We've fully acknowledged that all of this is based on famous fairy tales and other mythology.
Likewise, I wish you good luck too. I'll be glad to return feedback.

Why does it say that future Toki plays shudderwock? That means it’s still going to be played in the future, not cool!
also congrats to everyone who made it, good luck :-)
Congratulations for everyone who got into Phase II. I was close, but maybe it would be better next time :(
Ah... Toki didn’t think it through while writing...
Let’s pretend Bad Toki’s win condition is playing Good Toki’s card and pulling Shudderwock from the past... then recasting it for Grumble... somehow.
Wished to be pink.

@Demonxz95
