In the "Make a Card" thread, Loki_The_Mischievous challenged the next poster to make cards for the Norse gods Thor, Odin, and Loki. I was real excited about it and wanted to expand it so I made one god hero card for each class. As such, someone else beat me to it on the thread. However, I wanted to post my creations anyway, so below are my 9 Norse god cards
Burned and Burn came to mind when thinking about a Nordic set. It's a lot like Frozen and Freeze in that it's mostly a spell keyword. Burning a character means that that character's Health will contiuously go down by 1 at the start of each turn. It doesn't go away untill the affected minion is healed, Silenced, or if a spell removes the conditon from the character.
Priest: Would making the hero power an activated ability balance it?
Hunter: If I made the weapon have 1 Attack and a greater Durability so that it could attack the one health enemy minions, would that be better?
Warlock: What exactly is OP here? The Battlecry, the Hero Power, or both? the Battlecry, we can just change to 10 cards from the deck.
Mage: We can make so Fulla is the one with Taunt and that she's the one who will give your entire deck Scrolls of Wonder if she dies
Rogue: How exactly is this UP? I figure a repeatable Shadowstep, even if it costs 2, would be incredibly useful for Rogues.
Druid: Just like most of these, what exactly is OP here? The Hero Power? Cause the numbers on that could easily be tweaked
Paladin: You don't think that Weapon Paladin is already an archetype as it is and that Harrison Jones would be an enough of a hose?
Warrior: Because you say slightly, I'll consider this a win. Maybe if I would change anything, it would be to heal as well as gain armor or maybe gain more armor
Shaman: I figured this would be OP. How would you fix the numbers on this?
I actually don't mind having an underpowered card. That's how sets are, finding the actual underperforming cards as well as the well performing cards
Hunter: The problem is that it cost 10 and doesn't really deal with the opponent's board. just increasing the weapon attack to 1 might work though.
Warlock: The battlecry is way too OP even at 10 card since the hero power is great already. It could've eliminated key cards, etc, and since the deck is only 30 card. It's really hard to balance it out since it also have no onboard present. However, I believe 5-6 card would be good, but it still needed some effect on the turn played though or else you would've wasted 10 mana for a turn.
Mage: The Scroll of Wonder are really risky, and the units summon basically have no effect on the board, turning the game into Yogg-saron. I also took "fill your deck with Scroll of Wonder" to mean turn each card to Scroll of Wonder?
Druid: The battlecry made this a free upgrade to the hero power.
Paladin: a 10 mana deal 7 is already good, but it also has the ability to deal way more for basically free the following turns. I don't believe there is enough weapon destroy to make this balance.
Warrior: It basically give your opponent a 5/6 in exchange for the Guldan hero power. Also, silence the minion summoned and warrior win the game.
Shaman: strong minion from Battlecry which allows you to fight for board AND could also go face. The weapon from hero power also have tremendous face potentials.
Warclock: What if you remove 7 cards from the deck and recruit any minion that was removed?
Mage: By fill the deck, I mean add Scroll of Wonder until the deck becomes 30.
Druid: Sounds about right though, for how Blizzard designs their cards anyway.
Paladin: We can just shift numbers around so that wouldn't really be an issue. Maybe 4 power on it would be better, so that 2 activation from the hero power would eventually deal a total of 11 damage for 12 mana in 2 turns.
Warrior: It becomes a game of the enemy removing their free creature before Warrior could silence it
Shaman: Maybe we just decrease Sleipnir Health a bit so it could be easier to remove, make it a 4/4 or 4/3
I’ve had a similar idea to this and I’m glad I’m not alone. Without overexplainint, I think some of the classes are mixed up. Like you have Skaldi for Druid when she was a huntress for example. I also feel that Tyr or Forsetti would better fit Paladin. I see why Odin is shaman, because of the shamanism, but I think Thor would be more fitting because of the elemental aspects. These are all just my opinions for flavor and not actual feedback on the card designs though lol
Pretty sure that Skadi should be the Hunter goddess.
In turn, Njordr is probably the best candidate for Druid.
Thor is ok as Paladin, since Thor was mainly a protector of the folk. And the iconic Hammer of Wrath, common to all Paladins, is clearly based on Mjolnir.
Tyr was an ancient god of war, hence perfect for Warrior.
As for the balance side, many cards here are dangerously powerful, but i like the concept anyway.
You forget the one with Battlecry: Destroy the enemy Hero

Yeah Thor’s an idiot. Maybe he could be Warrior due to sheer strength? And definitely Freyr for Druid Hero, I don’t know what you talking about with this Njord shit.
Well, some compromise must be made with these things, with Thor Shaman you keep the namesake with the lightning, with Odin Shaman it is more fitting with the character, while Thor Warrior sounds weird imo, despite the same personality.
Njord is the most ancient god of fertility, mentioned as Nerthus by Tacitus. I reckon Freyr pretty much overlapped that portfolio in later times (he is the son of Njord too), while Njord included the Sea domain.

If you were to fix them, how would you do it?

Or we could increase sleipnir health by 1 and make the weapon deal 3 damage to a random character instead of enemy.
There are also many neutral silence for warrior to keep and make the perfect combo
Warlock sound good, but I think it should be 6
Your definition of mage sound better too

Well i give a go...

Tyr is more like a peacekeeper. He’s a god of war who fights for justice, which is Pally’s entire schtick.
Yeah, but if you use Thor for Shaman and Tyr for Paladin, then you need to assign something else to Warrior.
You could use Heimdal for Warrior (assuming you use Skadi for Hunter, and Njord for Druid, as i suggested)
At that point you are forced to set Odin as Neutral.
Well, it's ok tbh, but assigning hot-headed Thor to the wise Shaman feels offensive to me. xD
I feel like the priest effect with divine shield should have been for paladin since their class identity is about divine shield.
