Created this as a replacement for Cat Trick in
Secret
Hunter while keeping all the flavor of a dragon themed
secret
. Also if you were wondering about ordering; this
secret
would trigger after your opponents card (that would leave them with 0 mana) triggers , so this would survive a board wipe such as Twisting Nether if a warlock played it on curve, leaving you with a 4/4 on board.
This card was created as a drawing tool for Emeriss Control/OTK Hunter to reliably draw
Emeriss
before turn 10. However, it works also with other expensive, mighty Dragons. Drawing a specific card from your deck is really impactful (
Witchwood Piper
,
Cavern Shinyfinder
,
Sandbinder
and many other existing examples), so I think that this card would find its place in Hunter decks.
Flavor: Someone should really tell Rexxar that he doesn't need to shoot every dragon he wants to tame...
Now that Rexxar has access to his own little collection of Dragons, this allows the newly experimented Dragon Hunter archetype to have better support, while allowing him to play them at a smaller cost later on, in exchange for a smaller body. Happy Dragon training!
Ever replaced a moderately costed card during the mulligan in the hope of searching for a strong early-game card, but only to receive the largest minion in your deck? Fear no more! Highlandic Escort will put this to good use. This is a card that could certainly push for a viable Dragon Hunter deck archetype. If you happened to be holding Ysera since the start of the game, then a 5/5 taunt and a Ysera on turn six? Yes, please! The taunt helps to protect the dragon that you pull out, and fits in with the escort theme. On the other hand, if you're not holding any dragons that you started the game with, then this is just a simple 6 mana 5/5 taunt . This card would also introduce a new mulligan strategy - instead of searching for early-game cards, you could consider keeping or searching for one large dragon, a decision that may pay off massively.
As a clarification, the dragon that you started the game with must be one of the three cards you receive immediately after the mulligan (or four if you go second). The card you draw at the start of turn one does not count. Because of this, Highlandic Escort should not be too overpowered.
I have been asking myself what hunters would profit from the most and then the answer just popped up in my head - tempo . The Archaeologist is a slightly worse stated Arathi Weaponsmith with a conditional effect, but it enables better proactive plays. You can use the Fiery War Axe to clear an opponent's minion, while making board presence and threatening future minions (good vs aggro), or to hit the face (control/combo).

This would synergize well with hunters deathrattle activators/cards and also still hold the beast synergy while not being too powerful I believe.

Ok, maybe a little bit much, but heres my submission:

Minor Explanation: Every time you play an Arzru, your Hero Power switches randomly between one of the following four.

May you survive longer than your predecessors.

If you're holding more than one Dragon, it just picks a random one.
