Ever since I saw the trailer for The Witchwood, I was immediately reminded of the setting for Sleepy Hollow. Not to mention that the surrounding area is becoming cursed and haunted and all that good stuff. I was curious if The Headless Horseman would be drawn to such a place as it seems to fit the theme so perfectly.
This is just an idea I had, but I wanted to make him feel quite intimidating, like a nightmare that just won't go away. And since this is a new expansion, I wanted to incorporate some new mechanics that would fit how someone would have originally had to deal with him. After defeating him, his dormant form is just his head, and he needs time and/or your unused mana to revive himself over and over again.
Do you have any ideas on how you would make this spooky and iconic character appear in The Witchwood? Will he summon a bunch of mini pumpkins to do his bidding or would he start throwing fiery explosive pumpkins all over the board? What class do you think this card should call home? Leave your ideas here. Also, thoughts on the card above? I don't make custom cards often, and I'm not sure if the stats are balanced. Thank you.
That's a good call. He would probably fit in more if the expansion was about Duskwood as previously speculated, but don't I see why they couldn't include him. The problem is which class should get him, he's a horseman which screams Warrior, but in the story he's a death knight. He could go to paladin as he's a former paladin. Maybe Warlock? As he uses shadow magic. And maybe even just neutral.

I could see him as a neutral card. Every set needs a Dr.Boom(ish) card that has the option to go in any deck just as a value card. Just like The Lich King and Elise the Trailblazer for example.
The Headless Horseman has been borrowed by many fantasy properties so many times now. I wouldn't mind if they did it, but I hope Blizzard puts their own touch on it. How about the Earless Elfwoman (riding a sabercat instead of the typical horse)? Or maybe the Faceless Farie? Or maybe the Decapitated Dragon (maybe a bit too real for Hearthstone). Give us something that clearly references the Headless Horseman with a different name. Anyway, I would expect something corny and fun from the house that gave us Arfus!
After reading through his boss encounter more thoroughly, The Headless Horseman does have a wide array of abilities that would be difficult to place him in just one class. Perhaps a Neutral minion would be for the best. Even in my example, it's most likely to gain the most value in control or midrange type decks. So hopefully it won't be that ubiquitous "Dr. Boom" type card that every deck wants.
@Magitact: I've no doubt the Hearthstone team is going to give us some fun, wacky, and thematic cards to play around with. I'm looking forward to those cards honestly. Despite him being used quite a lot elsewhere, he's already in WoW as an event boss. Also, the area where you fight him isn't terribly far away from Gilneas & The Duskwood (where this next expansion is supposedly taking place). He's also made an appearance in Hearthstone during a Tavern Brawl.

To my understanding, The Headless Horseman is already something in WoW, so if Hearthstone were to go with that trope, they’d probably use the WoW version, and not make a completely different one.
He is in WoW, but they have already used him as a Tavern Brawl boss once or twice, during the Hallow's End event, which does correspond with his WoW appearances
Oooh, I can just imagine the animation for your card. Something like your unused mana crystals flying into his mouth and him gobbling them up. Amazing custom card.

Oh! Thanks for the heads up. I've never played WOW so I didn't know.

Great idea. I thought the same when I saw the trailer, very sleepy Hollow.

Personally, wouldn't expect to see HH in this set. Thematically, he's a former pally who haunts Scarlet Monastery and Tirisfal Glades/Lordaeron.
Nothing about his lore to date is specifically related to Gilneas. HS certainly picks and chooses what they take and when from WoW lore, so we'll see.
I think he'd be a good pally hero type card, destroy your current hero and make your dudes into Sinister Squashlings, muhahahahaha!!!
