Greetings and welcome to The Shifting Sands Card Design Competition. Let me provide a bit of context for those of you that don't come from the other thread. In short I made an expansion called The Shifting Sands around the time Kobolds was being released. I had this really cool idea about a card that made your hero not able to be targeted by spells or hero powers so I designed this.
Mere hours later Kobold Monk was released and as it turns out this overcosted version wouldn't have seen any play either. So now I've finished revealing my expansion and I wanted this card to be replaced but rather than just making another card I thought it'd be a lot more fun if I organized a competition and the winner card is the one that replaces this one.
If you want to participate that's great but I highly recommend that you check the expansion first, it has a very cool new mechanic called Resonance that you could use to design your card. Here are the specific rules for this competition:
Your card must be a neutral epic minion.
Your card must not use any mechanics from sets older than Knights of the Frozen Throne (no Kobolds or Witchwood).
Your card must use the hourglass logo as its expansion symbol (look under custom in hearthcards set logos).
The reason I don't want any mechanics from the later sets is that I designed this expansion before they were revealed and I want to keep it that way. As I said earlier you can follow the themes and the mechanics of my expansion if you want but you are not forced to use them.
This competition is going to work pretty much like a WCDC in most ways so there is a submission topic (this one) and a discussion topic (the same one I used to reveal the expansion). Now here's a list of the submission rules just in case:
You can only submit one card. Don't make more than one post (if you want to discuss something please head to the discussion topic). If you want to correct a mistake you can edit your original post.
You can't submit golden cards or animated cards.
Your entry must be of your own creation obviously.
I'm not expecting many entries so probably all of them will make it to the finals but the order in which they are portrayed in said finals will depend on how many upvotes you get in this thread. In case there's too many entries I'll select the most upvoted ones using a similar algorithm to the WCDCs.
There's not much to offer in terms of rewards, just the glory and a showcase in my expansion thread. I'll also add a special section in my thread for all entries that make it to the finals.
Oh I almost forgot, you have until monday next week to submit your card. Until then, I'll be looking forward to what you come up with so good luck and may the best win.
This is a card I made ages ago, so I updated it with the expansion symbol and Elemental tribe. The italicized text is really unnecessary, but it makes the effect more "punchy" when you read it. It's the difference between "This is every type of minion. Cool" and "THIS MINION IS A MURLOC-DEMON-DRAGON-BEAST-PIRATE-MECH-ELEMENTAL-TOTEM! THAT IS AWESOME!" while still keeping the actual ability concise.
Sporebats Matriarchs are already grown up Sporebats, that have already been in time, and grew inside it, as a matter of heredating their effect, which is made generation by generation.
So you might see this as a giant buffer, right? Absolutely wrong! Because you need the minions to survive, are you going to play weak minions and risk yourself to have them killed? Or be sure to get a sure-y buff on your biggey minions?
Clarification; If the minion was summoned at the start of your turn by an effect, it won't trigger the Resonance effect.
It might be a bit expensive for the effect, but we've seen in the past that strong neutral destroy effects can destabilize the game (See Big Game Hunter). Essentially the idea behind this card is designed to work in a class/deck that still wants to use it's HP, as opposed to just slotting it in an aggro deck where your minions and HP don't matter as much. It most likely fits better in a deck with a DK. And no, if you run two of these, the Hero Power won't be the next two, it'll still only be one if you stack it.

The joke is you.
Here, just to keep it dragon themed at least.
