Lore-wise,
Ner'zhul
was the Lich King before it was cool. He was originally an orc shaman who was cursed by Kil'Jaeden. He then slowly corrupted
Arthas Menethil
and finally fuse his soul with him to become
The Lich King
we know.
Based on the Legend of King Arthur where he is the only one that can use Excalibur. Usually is just a 4 mana
Volcanic Potion
with a 4/4 body and a 2/1 weapon in exchange for being a Legendary and a slot on the board for the rest of the game, but bounce effects like
Youthful Brewmaster
or copy effects like
Shadowcaster
will give him immense values.
Hunter lacks some
Secret
-synergy minions, so here's one that could make Hunter more powerful. I spent about an hour thinking about its balance (previous versions - 5/3, 5/2), so maybe finally it's all right with him, but if it would be in game, it probably won't deserve any big nerfs
Important note!!! After it goes dormant, it doesn't keep its enchantments, because in this case it would be OP
Here's hoping Shadowform Priest can still be a thing someday . . .
At first I thought this card would be really powerful considering the many ways Priest has to copy and revive minions
(
Mirage Caller
,
Resurrect
,
Eternal Servitude
)
. With this, I decided to require two uses of
Mind Spike
or
Mind Shatter
instead of one, and it also avoids reusing the Inspire mechanic in a boring way.
Eventually, you could have a board full of 7 of these, however the best strategy would be to only have 2-3 alive at a time and use your Hero Power then trade to keep the revive counters uneven. This also curves out really well with
Shadowform
since it's a 4 cost minion, you can play it the turn after and immediately start building the value from trading minions and this will occur fairly often since you can
(and probably would)
run both copies of
Shadow Servant
and
Shadowform
.
In terms of flavor, I kept the Classic set watermark since
Shadowform
is also in the Classic set and these cards should be forever together.
Decided to tell a bit of a story with my submission this week. Thought it would be fun to try a card that enforces a a sort of "peace" on the battlefield....but that peace dies with him. (Medivh famously united the Horde and Alliance at the end of Warcraft 3.) While alive, this card severely limits the amount of combat space. Once he's gone, everyone starts fighting again and you each get a bunch of tokens, which is good for any deck that can buff or evolve those tokens. Please note that the "awakening" is NOT a
deathrattle
so you cannot avoid it by silencing Medivh or returning him to your hand. If he's not on the board, the war continues. Period.
It would be random which player gets Alliance and which player gets Horde.
"Lightless Ethereals can still get the high-ground, they are like ghosts that you can't see, but you can't realize they already got it"
Uhh, I can explain.
Alright, first to clarify some things,
Soulmondo
is the collectable minion, but all these "tokens" are related to him, because when he dies, he loses his Dark/Light Energy (
Energyless Ethereal
), and must find a new side, either you can go to the Light (Healing) or go to the Dark (Damage), you can choose wether you need one of them the most.
If you need healing and
i need healing
protection, restore Health to get
Mattermando
, which will protect you till death, want to go on the aggresive side and risks? Take the dark side with
Soulmando
, you might survive out of him, but he dissipates quickly, again, choose which one you need the most right now.
Fun thing, even the names are opposites of each other, Matter and Soul. Light and Dark. Like, you got a doppleganger, but that doppleganger is yourself.
Let's make Freeze Shaman playable.

Custom cards :
CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)
Hunters need control tools - here's one!
Flavor: You sedate (go dormant) the minion, and drag it to your place where it's in deep sleep. Only a lot of noise (Battlecry) will wake it up!
My Entry for this week's Card Design Competition - Season 8.16:

Good luck to everyone in this week's competition!
This space is intentionally blank.

"What did you say?!"
A cheap dormant card that need a synergy to be good. You play this with Fal'dorei Strider and bounce card to be effective.
Something a bit more differently this time. Enjoy.
The best way of dealing with pests is keeping the board clean in the first place.
