Illidan is one of my favourite Warcraft characters and I wish he was much more stronger in Hearthstone, but this version of him is broken as hell. :P
Why is this broken? The only Demons that the Silence is going to impact are Voidlord, Dreadsteed, and Voidcaller, two of which are in Wild. There are no other deathrattle demons. Having said that, I am curious how this card would act if targeting a player that has been transformed by Lord Jaraxxus. Instawin for the Illidan player?
I really like this card, and I think it could go a long way toward balancing Cubelock without nerfing it. The flavor would be great, and it really isn't much more than a specific The Black Knight (kind of like Hemet Nesingwary, but vs. Warlock, and it should be noted that Hemet didn't ruin Hunter).

"Destroy a minion."
Warlocks transformed into Jaraxxus is no minion, so it would not work on him in the first place.

Agree with the summary for now and maybe if warlock gets any other scary stuff in the future a counter like this would be nice. As for the Jaraxxus interaction yea just let Illidan win, that's being prepared right mwahahaha.
Seriously though I would say probably not as Jaraxxus is a Hero card right not a minion? could be wrong there though and wasn't there another card that did this that got changed?

It is broken because Vilespine Slayer is already a very strong card, with -1/-1 stats in comparison to Illidan the Betrayer for the same cost, and you need to play a card first on the same turn for it's ability to have effect, while you can play this version of Illidan on curve and kill a minion without worring about anything else. Also, this rogue card doesn't have any tag and neither an extra effect against demons like Illidan.
Do you really think that a Chillwind Yeti that has Assassinate for +1 mana as a battlecry, a demon tag, and an extra ability against a certain tribe is not broken? Really?
Also I cannot believe I got the titles mixed up haha
Why is the card text of the first one so sloppy, when the second one is done properly ?:( (/edit: ok there is "its" not "it's", so guess not perfect either :P you rly should watch your wordings a lot more).
Also it's a good practice to post smaller images, it doesn't rly matter here, but it's something that is good to get used to and do it automatically, rather than wonder where it might be appropriate ;-)
That being said, v1 is just a big body ... nothing spectacular and only playable vs WLs = basically unplayable. v2 is a neutral Assassinate with a free 4/5 body ... yeah, toooooooooooootally balanced :) If you swap the effects on v2, it can be more balanced "Battlecry: Silence a minion. If it's a Demon, destroy it." ... but then it will be (mby) better, but (still) about as situational The Black Knight.
Thanks for the feed back, will definitely pay closer attention to wording and punctuation in the future.
How do you make the images smaller? that's just how they paste in from the link.
To be fair, I never said anything about wanting a "balanced" Illidan, He should be The Lich King good at least in my opinion. He is so underwhelming its a joke and only an op version now would see any play at all.
I actually like the gain +1/+1 one the best as it curves out well if you play cheap demons early on and becomes terrifying further into the game.
The other one was 50/50 on which wording I went for, seems like I picked the wrong one for balance/fairness but lets be real Illidan is a beast and deserves to have a beastly ability maybe pushing it back up to 7 or even 8 mana would be better in that state though.
The original one I made was based on him killing demons and becoming stronger for it (which I am pretty sure he did for 1000's of years before he betrayed the elves and his brother). I didn't actually think of its synergy with the currently mega strong warlock/demon decks as much as oh wouldn't this be cool as he is a demon hunter.
I will get better and smarter at designing and balancing new cards. Thanks to all of you for your tips and knowledge and one day it will be me with a whole custom expansion made up.
This is unfair as shit, dude. Warlocks, as the only demon users, don't deserve to have neutral cards that tech THIS hard vs them. Black Knight and Skulking Geist are fair neutral techs because every class uses taunts and 1-drops.
Unfair? A way over-costed 7 drop pure tech choice? Nah, if you need an anti warlock tech this bad that you will stick in a card that is shit in 80% of matchups you know the offending class has gone too far. If anything the upside reward is underwhelming. When you tech correctly you deserve to be rewarded, especially at this mana cost

it is a neutral that is really strong against one class and does not effect any others
edit: every warlock uses demons even when they aren't broken, so it is punishing a whole class instead of a specific card or archetype

Im not sure if you just copypasta the link to the post to create the image or if you are actually using the "Insert/edit image" function.
You should use the function for more control over the image, there is a section "Dimensions", where you can set the dimensions of the image. Best way to do it is to let "Constrain proportions" checked and fill in (or change) only one dimension, the other one will adjust accordingly to keep the ratio.
Generally the go to height (the 2nd dimension) for cards is between 200 and 250 and let the other one adjust accordinly. Or, you could just drag an edge of the image in the post with your mouse and make it smaller that way :) Tho that will most likely not result in the same dimensions for all cards, if you were to post more than one, so using the Insert/edit function is preferable, to make your posts look well arranged ;-)
PS: dont forget to use direct link to the image ;-)

SamHobbs494, I really like the concept of your cards, they just need to be more balanced, that is all. And of course, good luck with your custom expansion, I'm pretty sure it will be a very interesting one. :)

It is only punishing BIG demons. if you play this guy on an imp the warlock comes out ahead. I see no difference between punishing a single class and punishing another tribe like pirates or murlocs. When you are teching against something so specific that it makes up a fraction of the meta, you deserve to be handsomely rewarded the fraction of your games where it pays off. If this card was printed it would be played BY WARLOCKS as much as by non-warlocks. murlocs and pirates are single strategy cards (aggro) there is some parity between teching against a strategy and teching against a class. Maybe the game needs more class counters like a 2 mana 3 damage spell that does 6 damage to a mage. or a neutral minion with battlecry that steals a silverhand recruit and give it +5/+5
Still, look at the mana cost. you are loosing massive tempo by playing this card against non-demon decks. It is given as a legendary and you are slotting in a tech choice that is a dead card against aggro that kills you before turn 7. There is no way that this is unfair - this might even see less play than the current illidan, which is zero play - except that it might turn out that the card is great IN A WARLOCK DECK WHERE YOU KILL YOUR OWN DEMONS for profit.
Compare this to skulking geist as an anti jade tech of old - how is this a more effective (or oppresive) tech than geist which works against other decks that you aren't even trying to tech against?

Ah, you are correct. I misread it as only being able to target demons. If that were the case then it would be fine. Targeting any minion is another story.

True. I was thinking this would work the same as Sacrificial Pact, but it says "target Demon" and not "minion".

Better one, 5 manas 4/5 battlecry gain control for enemy demon.
