A Serving of Servitors A Special Edition Card Design Competition
Hello everybody! In addition to our regular competition this week, we're also running a competition in honour of our first expansion design competition winner, the 'Servitors of the Loa' by RazorOfArtorias. We need you to sacrifice a bit of blood for this one...
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
Your card must use or interact with the Voodoo mechanic introduced in the expansion.
To see the expansion in its entirety, along with all current Voodoo cards, click the banner above.
Your card must correctly display the Voodoo mechanic, using the Blood Drop mana icon available in Hearthcards.
Check out the spoiler below for an explanation of the Voodoo mechanic, as well as instructions on how to create a Voodoo card in Hearthcards.
What is Voodoo?
Voodoo is a dark and powerful form of magic practiced by the shadowhunters, hexxers, and witch doctors. The trolls' use of mojo in their voodoo magic has long been established. Drinking blood provides power, the darkest of voodoo. Shadowhunters are masters of voodoo magics who can use their spirit-powers to both heal their allies and place curses upon their hapless enemies.
The UI (user interface) when you play a card with Voodoo is like the Choose One cards UI. You pick one side and that's the effect you get. Some Voodoo add new effects and some replace the base effect (all ended in instead). Druid's Voodoo cards are special ones because they let you combine both effects in a Choose One card, like with Fandral Staghelm.
Remember: you can die if you don't have enough Health and you activate the Voodoo side of the card!
How do I make a Voodoo card?
The process is very simple. First, create the card you want, card text and all, ignoring the Voodoo Health cost. Then, once you have this new card, copy the Hearthcards URL and find this part of the Hearthcards interface.
See that sneaky little 'More...' button down at the bottom there? Click that and you should see this page.
Obviously, you want the bottom right option, so click on that and you'll get this page.
From there, simply insert the Card URL you saved before, enter whatever Health value you want for your Voodoo card, and click Generate! You'll then get your new URL, which you'll need to save somewhere other than Hearthcards, as usual.
General Competition Rules
These are the rules that remain consistent from competition to competition.
First, these are the rules about Posting:
You are allowed to submit only one entry. An entry normally consists of only one collectible card, plus any necessary additional material or commentary (explained below).
You are allowed to post in this Submission Topic only once, only to submit your one entry.
You may not delete ANY posts you make in this Submission Topic, not even accidental ones you may make over your one allowed, such as by double-posting or by accidentally posting something here that you meant for the Discussion Topic. If you do accidentally post more than once, inform any of the Fan Creation Forum moderators via PM, and we will handle it.
Speaking of the Discussion Topic, that is where any discussion of this competition should go. This thread is for submissions only. If you want to discuss your card or ask questions about the competition rules or process, you can find a link to the Discussion Topic at the top of this thread. Plenty of folks there will be happy to help you out.
Once you have submitted your one entry, you are allowed to make only minor changes to it. Minor changes are things like correcting typos or making balance changes that do not alter the spirit of your entry as determined by we the moderators. If you want to make any changes and have any doubts as to their legality, ask us first.
These are the rules about your Submission:
Accompanying the image of your card, you may offer some minimal additional commentary to explain its design, balance, and/or other qualities. Flavor text is also welcome.
You may not submit any Gold cards or animated cards. (It's just a cheap attention grab tactic that makes it unnecessarily difficult to determine what class your card is for.)
Your entry must be a card of your own creation. We've been doing this for a while, so if you blatantly rip off somebody else's idea, we will know.
Remember that, although HearthCards is awesome, you MUST host your card somewhere other than Hearthcards. Save it and upload it toImgur, Photobucket, or some other similar site. HearthCards has a limited server space and will purge cards after a few days, and nobody wants your card disappearing part-way through the finals. We understand that there are some HearthCards memberships that will allow you to save your card there for longer (and you should totally get one of those just for general fan creation purposes, by the way), but we don't know who has those memberships and we can't tell from the URLs.
Fun and even humorous entries are perfectly allowed, but "troll" entries will be disqualified. If you're worried that your card may be misinterpreted as a troll card, contact a moderator before you submit.
TIP: Though not a rule exactly, we highly recommend that you insert your images using this icon on the bar above the post text editor: . Just click that button and put in the URL of your image. Cards that are uploaded and attached to your post are not disallowed, but in our experience they will not do nearly as well, so this is for your own benefit more than anything.
Finally, know that manipulating votes in any way is strictly forbidden. Any violators will receive an official warning, and will be banned from this and all future HearthPwn Card Design Competitions.
Competition Process
Entry and Early Voting Phase (Starts Now! Ends 20:00 UTC 18/Sept/2017) During this Phase, the Submission Topic is made available for your submissions. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like! Voting Phase (Starts 20:00 UTC 18/Sept/2017, Ends 20:00 UTC 19/Sept/2017) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites! Final Phase (Starts 20:00 UTC 19/Sept/2017, Ends 20:00 UTC 20/Sept/2017) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion will be allowed to continue in the Poll Topic, and it will also include all the qualifying finalists and poll to decide the winner of the competition!
How do we determine the qualifying finalists? First, we'll pull up-vote data from each submission using the formula detailed below:
(ab) / (c) = x
Where, a = The total number of submissions on the same page as the submission. b = The total number of up-votes that the submission received. c = The total number of up-votes on the same page as the submission. x = The submission's final score.
The formula basically measures which cards stood out the most, with the necessary assumption that each page is about equal in overall submission quality. It will be the entries that receive the highest final scores that move on to the Final Phase.
The bottom line is that, although entries on the earlier pages of the Submission Topic are much more visible and thus receive many more up-votes than entries on later pages, you don't actually have to rush to get your entry in as soon as possible because the up-votes end up being weighted by what page your entry ends up on in order to determine its final score.
But wait, there's more! During each Weekly Card Design Competition, each Fan Creation Forum moderators will be given a Wild Card, which they can use to advance any one entry that they feel was initially overlooked or under-appreciated to the Final Phase, regardless of its final score. Wild Cards are our way of spicing things up a bit, but please don't ask to be given one or be upset if you aren't given one. These are just supposed to be fun. (Also, it should go without saying that, while we moderators are allowed to participate in the competitions, we are not allowed to benefit from Wild Cards.)
Rewards
Bragging rights are always awesome, but as usual, we do offer a couple of HearthPwn site rewards to competition winners: Their card forever immortalized in our Winners' Gallery! And a unique Avatar Border & "Card Design Champion" Title, as depicted below!

A Rogue weapon designed to take advantage of buffs like Envenom Weapon, Deadly Poison and Leeching Poison. You have to be careful about using this to clear though, as while it ends up being an infinite 3-damage ping if you pay the 6 health, you might die before you can do much with it, given the classes' lack of healing options.
Mage and pally now have instant win combos so I figured I'd give one to warrior. The condition is to make it to 10 mana with at least 46 health. Not so easy when using weapons to control the bored damages you. Finding the right balance between gaining armor and controlling the bored is key. Plus this is a good tech card against OTK mage as they have an almost 100% winrate vs control warriors and this bypasses Ice Block.

A direct reference to the Garrosh vs Cairne honor-duel to the death (you can see Cairne's dead body at the bottom of the card-art D:). If you are willing to pay the price, and sacrifice your honor, only you will benefit from this spell.

Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
I really like the Voodoo mechanic, so I thought I'd try to use it to make a minion that could be played as a relatively vanilla minion, or carry a hefty Voodoo for a much more powerful effect.
"He really, REALLY doesn't like waiting to unwrap his presents."
Blizzard's talked about maybe making cards of the heroes, and they sort of have with the Hero cards, so I figure, why not take Gul'dan and actually put him somewhat in flavor with the Servitors of the Loa theme? This time around Gul'dan is razing the jungles in search of power and knowledge, and callously destroying whatever lies in his path.
Balancing is tuned to have the same rough stat value as Kalimos, Primal Lord but since Kalimos doesn't really see play... I added the Immune effect to simulate spell-slinging from relative safety, and gave him an even more punishing condition than Kalimos' thanks to the Voodoo keyword to trigger one of three spells that are more or less tuned around Twisting Nether's power level.
(EDIT: Just wanted to add that the idea behind the Desecration spells is basically chaos, and double-edged power. The purpose of this card is Control play, so healing your opponent with Desecrate the Temples isn't strictly bad, and it's meant to make a fun game of both players denying each other by picking cards mainly useful to them. Similar intent with the other two spells.)
"When bleeding for others, sometimes, it is others that make you bleed."
This contest has been a lot of fun to design a card for. I implore those looking on to try their hand. You'd be surprised what you think up. Good luck to everyone, and congrats to Artorias again for having his own card competition.
This is the Submission Topic. The Discussion Topic is here.

Mostly just a tribute to RazorOfArtorias than an actual contestable submission. Thanks for making this forum better!

Then did.
Then fired myself.
