Probably won't be moving on in the expansion competition, but can you hit me up with a brief history of the Highborne/Naga? I know that Queen Azshara did some sort of weird stuff involving Sargeras, got screwed over somehow and got sunk into the ocean alongside her people, and then they all turned into Naga somehow, but that's about it.
Alright so first and foremost, not all HIghborne became Naga. I'll address the living HIghborne history and then dive into the Naga. They have three different paths. A small group lived in exlie. A group were exiled and became HIgh Elves, and those that worked for Azshara became the naga. Elf lineage is truly complicated.
So Generally the Highborne were considered the cream of the crop, at least that's what they considered themselves. They were nearly perfect and extremely gifted, thus they took the moniker of HIghborne. They took on selective breeding practices and frequently visited the Well of Eternity, imbuing them with more magical powers.
As a result they grew arrogant and contempt of the regular night elven populace, which is why they were all the more willing to follow Azshara when she worked with Sargeras. They agreed to open their world to the demons in exchange for power unimaginable. What happened next was truly horrifying as endless demons swarmed kalimdor, reportedly killing hundreds of thousands. Eventually however the Kadlorei (Night Elves) Fought them off. Malfurioin, in battle with Azshara eventually destroyed the Well of Eternity killing many highborne and leaving those that lived to become trapped to die on the bottom of the sea. Only with Azshara's quick thinking she allied herself with the Old Gods and she and her people were mutated and transformed into the Naga.
Yet, many Highborne who had seen the error of their leader's ways had not been caught or killed. Many went to Zin'Ashari being spared death during the sundering. Others were left secluded in Eldre'thalas. Afterwards they later joined with the night elves fleeing the rising waters of the Great Sea and arriving in Hyjal.
These remaining Highborne were not greeted with warm welcome. They were allowed to stay due to them no longer having access to the powerful magic they once hand and they helped rebuild night elf civilization. Still though, they were looked at wearily by Malfuion and the other Night Elves. After being tempted to use the new Well of Eternity Illidan created they were exiled, in an act of mercy by Malfurion who didn't want to kill even more of his own kind.
Those elves that were exiled became the High Elves, founding the capital of Quel'Thalas in the Eastern Kingdoms of Lordaeron. In their new environment they changed over-time, becoming less purple and shorter, gaining a pinkish skin tone. They also forsook worshiping the moon instead opting to Worship the sun. With a small vial of the well of eternity they had saved they created the Sunwell to feed them their magical powers. However, knowing the faults of the past they created runestones to hide their magic from the Legion.
Now onto those left at Eldre'thalas. The group known as the Shendr'alar has lived there for thousands of years, excluded from the outside world. They sought to join their Night Elven allies once more, largely out of desperation in falling population numbers and also feeling they needed to reconnect with those past.
These Highborne, led by Mordent Evershade negotiated with Malfuion and Tyrande until they agreed to allow them to assimilate back into their society, being permitted to teach magic to the Night Elves once more. They are now found in all Alliance cities, offering their magical prowess to those in need. There are even some in Dalaran right now. However the Night Elves do not forget and many of them were still weary of the highborne joining, creating some turmoil. Some, such as Shandris Feathermoon, even said outright they would have killed the HIghborne upon seeing them, had it not been for Malfurion staying their blade.
Of course later on this unfortunately did happen. It started with one murder and continuously mounted. The renowned Warden Maiev Shadowsong was sent to be lead investigator upon who was commingling the crimes. Meanwhile the HIghborne are feeling still even more ostracized. Their leader says to have patience as they need to know they can't start using all their magic once they are in there.
In a cruel twist of fate Maeiv captures the remaining HIghborne revealing to them that she in fact was the one behind assassinating their kin. She hates Malfurion and finds him to be making the same mistakes his twin brother Illidan did. HOwever her brother Jarod Shadowsong, with the help and death of the Worgen Eadrick, was able to free Malfurion and bring him to where she had captured the other Nightborne.
They were able to stop her, Maiev running off into the night. The rest of the HIghborne were freed, but they are still not treated as full members of society by some elves.
As for those that became the Naga. They founded the underwater city Naz'tajar where they lived for thousands of years. One of the first sitings of the Naga back onto the mainland was done by Thrall during the Third War when he found one being worshiped by a group of Murlocs. (The naga use Murlocs and other sea creatures)
One Naga, by the name of Lady Va'shj and her followers joined forces with Illidan Stormrage to aid him in his quest to destroy the Frozen Throne. When Kael'thas sunstrider encountered her he was weary at first but accepted her offer in helping the elves kill the scourge. However they were soon imprisioned by Garithos. It is only due to Va'shj that they escaped and they joined forces with Illidan once more in Outland. Vas'shj was later killed in Outland.
Then throughout WoW they show up periodically meddling with things for the Old Gods, particularly N'zoth whom lives deep underwater. They helped orchestrate the capture of Lord Neptulon, the Water Elemental during Cataclysm with the aid of Ozumat a giant sea kraken.
A small group of Illidans Naga still exists and is now abord the Fel Hammer, the Demon Hunter ship Illidan controls training forces and working with them. The rest however are under the guidance of Azshara and the Old Gods on the main-lands.
It's fun to note that their culture is one of Castes and that they consider turtle bad luck and they fear them. All in all, there you go a brief history of their cultures.
I would like to know more of the dragons and these dragon aspects which I don't really know what they are and what is their purpose (I only have played hs and warcraft 3). Super cool thread btw

I second this request!!!!
At work, but will give a brief overview in 1.5 hrs if Wishmaster doesn't beat me to it! There's a LOT of lore on the dragons.

Dragons are extremely intelligent reptilian creatures. Reportedly they are able to hear and learn things inside their egg, already being conscious before they even hatch. They start out as Whelpings, Then age into Drakes, Then Dragons, and Finally Wyrms. They are evolved from the same evolutionary path as wyrvren and gryphons although we do not know who that far back common ancestor is. They aspects breed by having consorts chosen at a ritual. The Dragon Aspects are the leaders of the Five Dragonflights. Red, Blue, Green, Bronze, and Black.
The Titans imbued these aspects after they stood up against the mighty reign of the massive proto-dragon Galkarond, the Father of Dragons. Alexstrasza, Malygos, Neltharion, Nozdormu and Ysera are the five Aspects. They were taksed by the Titans to protect Azeroth when the Titans left the planet.
Neltharion was given the task of being the Earth Warder, to protect the deep earth and ground of Azeroth. Nozdormu was given control over time to guard and police all potential time-ways. Ysera is known as the Dreamer. She watched over the Emerald Dream, a mystical realm connected to Azeroth but outside physical existence. Malygos was given control over Magic, and finally Alexstraza the Lifebinder was given the stead of protecting all living things on Azeroth. Their large goal was to ultimately stop the Hour of Twilight, some prophesied destructive event.
Neltharion, now known as Deathwing, was later corrupted and actively worked towards getting the Dragon Soul, an artifact of legendary power during the war of the ancients. However his attempts were eventually thwarted by the other four dragon aspects. For a time they helped the Azerothians, living in relative harmony, protecting them as they had done in the past.
Malygos was eventually put down by the Adventurers of Azeroth on request of Alexstraza, for he had grown belligerent demanding all mortal spell-casters be killed. He saw them all as threats, potential ways of endangering them and sealing the fate of the Hour of Twilight. Kalecgos was later chosen to succeed him and currently leads the Blue Dragonflight.
When the Hour of Twilight happened, ushered in by Deathwing Himself who had been in self imposed exile deep underground until the Cataclysm, they ultimately combined their powers to destroy him once and for all imbuing the Dragon Soul. As a result this left them weakend and damaged. They proclaimed that now it was the time for the Age of Mortals and retained much weaker versions of their powers. They are also now infertile and eventually the dragons will die out. They still agreed to help Azeroth when they can, however.
Ysera was Corrupted in Legion and was put down. Her spirit now resides in the Emerald Dream, still guarding it in the after-life.
There are more than just those five kinds of dragons though, as there exists numerous lesser dragonflights. Some notable ones include The Infinite Dragonflight is a corrupted version of the Bronze Dragonflight following the wishes of their leader Murozond a future corrupted version of Nozdormu. .The Twilight Dragonflight is an off-shoot of black corrupted by experiments done by Deathwing and his followers. THe Netherwings are also part of Deathwings Spawn, changed by the Nether Energies surrounding outland after being exposed to high doses of them. They were freed from his control however and are relatively helpful and just want to live and settle in outland.
Currently the Black Dragonflight is largely destroyed. There only exists a few remaining black Dragonflight, such as Wrathion. Alextraza and Nozdormu are the only two original Aspects yet still living. Sorry this is sort of brief. I'll come back later and expand. I just wanted to get something out, but I am being interrupted IRL unexpectantly.

One thing I've always wondered about: what is the connection/relationship between Medivh and Medivh the Guardian? Is one the alternate form of the other? And how did they come to be that way?
What happens with Garrosh after he was defeated as the last boss in Pandaria and the next expansion WoD... How can he gets back in time to reunite his father and escaped from the Alliance and the Horde and also what happens after this expansion where is Grommash now .. ?

During his trial which happened shortly after the unfolding of the Siege of Orgrimmar, Garrosh was rescued by the remnants of his loyalists (including the then-leader of the Dragonmaw clan) and a rogue bronze dragon by the name of Kairozdormu. In order to escape the massive amount of alliance, horde and pandashan troops and leaders in presence, they tinkled with the fabric of time, and went back in the past, in Draenor, some time before the events of the corruption of the orcs. There Garrosh reunited with his father Grommash (without him knowing Garrosh was actually his son) and schemed in order to change the course of history, thus creating a parallel universe. Anticipating Gul'Dan's treachery and the plot of the Burning Legion, they then marched on to "seize their destiny" and create the Iron Horde, which somehow managed to open a portal to our present day Azeroth.
As for Grommash, he was last seen at Hellfire Citadel during the fight which led to the death of Archimond. As far as we know he lived on.
Op, thank you for this thread! My question is regarding lore inconsistencies: which are they, from the beggining? :) as many as you can remember.
Pretty much a majority of WC1 has been retconned or explained further.
Blackrock Orcs having Grey instead of Green skin
Chen Stormstout is from Wandering Ilse, not Pandaria.
Deathwing supposedly was on Draneor before the dark portal exploded but then inexplicably is back on Azeroth.
Blackhands Son Rend went from normal orc to fel orc back to normal orc inexplicably.
in Warcraft II The Orc ending is that of ultimate victory. Obviously not canon and changed. I would say a good portion of WC II has been retconned as well, although it's more consistently represented than WC I
Draenei are a retcon. Initially all Eredar joined the Burning Legion. This was later changed to include Draenei who did not join the Legion and escaped Argus with the help of the Naaru.
Honestly there's been so many changes throughout lore this is hard to answer.

The Deathwing part was always very confusing... Even as a big fan of the lore, I never wrapped my head around Neltharion's coming to and then leaving Draenor...
To add to the changed made about Draenei and Eredars - i'm pretty sure that at some point in world of warcraft, Archimond and Kil'Jaeden were said to be the brothers of Velen rather than simply his friends turned nemesis.
Thanks man, I also wonder what is the lore about Valeera, I know she is from a side story or something that involves Varian, but where did she go?
Valeera Sanguinar is indeed largely close to Varian, but that's not her whole story Valeera is relatively young for an elf..When Valeera was young, her family was killed by bandits. She survived both the bandits and the scourge, living by thievery. One time, she has stolen a scroll, only to find it contained information on her own family: her ancestor Refthlara was part of the council of Tirsfal. However, one day when trying to steal a shaman's talisman, she was caught and jailed. Showing her fighting prowess by injuring several of the guards in the process, it's possible that is how she attracted the attention of the Arena promoter. The day before she was to implement her escape plan, Valeera was sold to Regar Earthfury so she could join Bloodeye Redfist and Broll Bearmantle in team combat in the ring.. Soon after, Bloodeye was killed and Broll told Valeera the stories of both Rehgar and Bloodeye.
After Bloodeye's funeral pyre, Valeera and Broll were being transported in a caged wagon to Orgrimmar to be trained as gladiator. sOn their way, they were joined by a human who had washed up on the seashore with no memory. When they reached Orgrimmar, they were caged once again; with the human who did nothing but brood while the two elves argued.
Valeera, Broll, and the amnesiac human trained in the ways of the gladiator and learned to look out for one another since rival gladiators would test their mettle against the novice team in fights to the death while their trainers would gamble on the outcomes.Eventually the three traveled to Dire Maul in Feralas where the gladiatorial contests took place. After many bloody battles, they emerged the victors of the Crimson Ring tournament. Impressed by Varian's skill at arms, the crowd gave him the Orcish name Lo'gosh which means 'ghost wolf'.
She was later sold to another gladiator team however she soon escaped and eventually went to look for Both Broll Bearmantle and Lo'Gosh. She eventually got onto the trail and discovered an assassin was trailing Broll and Lo'Gosh. After defeating the assassin she was saved by Aegwynn. Aegwynn reunited her with Broll and Lo'Gosh. Lo'gosh is revealed to be Varian Wrynn.
All three set out determined to get Varian Wrynn back to the Stormwind as a rightful king. In menethil she was inflicted with a curse by a blood elf warlock, the Curse of Kathra'Natir, imbuing a demon to possess her. Because she was inflicted with the curse and fel energies were consuming her, her addiction to magic as a blood elf was exacerbated. Due to her condition for times the demon would gain control of her body.
In Ironforge Valeera subdued a black dragon in disguise, stopping another assassination attempt on Varian. She was left behind in Ironforge to adjust from her withdrawal from magic while the rest of her companions embarked on a mission to rescue Marhsal Windsor. Secluded in her room, the demon tried to take control of her body by feeding her feelings of abandonment, using visions of her deceased parents to verbally abuse her. But she regained control of her senses when a vision of Aegwynn told her she was not alone and that she had people like Broll and Varian who loved her. She later rendezvoused with Varian and Broll after their mission, informing them that she's better and in control of herself again.
When they reached Stormwind she was able to help uncover Onyxia's Treachery. After the death of Onyxia both she and Broll were offered permanent residence in Stormwind as two of Varian's Advisers and bodyguards. She helped Convince Varian to go to the peace summit trying to unite the horde and alliance, but during the summit the Twiligh'ts hammer attacked Theramore leaving both groups in distrust of each other.
During the time of the Stormrage Novel (Cataclysm) She left Stormwind and no one knows where she went. Until this expansion where she cropped back up in Legion. She is part of the secretive rogue group, the Uncrowned which reside in the sewers of Dalaran. She used the Raven's Eye you helped her retrieve in game to decipher a letter proving that Mathias Shaw was replaced by a dreadlord in disguise.
Probably not much lore related but more about flavor : How come Priest is the class that steals from the deck while rogue is the class that steals from the class ? The way I see it, a priest by reading your mind should be able to steal anything your class have access to, while a rogue is going to steal what's in your pocket (deck).
I wholeheartedly agree...I also don't understand why Rogues don't have secrets, especially when Paladins do.
I'm someone who took up Hearthstone without ever playing WoW, so my lore knowledge is very limited.
One thing I've always wondered about: what is the connection/relationship between Medivh and Medivh the Guardian? Is one the alternate form of the other? And how did they come to be that way?
We could write an entire thread full of lore about Medivh, but here is a short answer: Medivh was the Last Guardian of Tirisfal a very powerful mage, corrupted by Sargeras. He lived in Karazhan and eventually helped the Horde enter Azeroth before he was put down by his apprentice Khadgar. This is what Medivh the hero is based on.
The events of "One Night in Karazhan" never occured in Warcraft lore. They're just a thought experiment by the Hearthstone devs ("What would happen if Medivh would throw a giant party at Karazhan?"). Medivh, the Guardian and the real Medivh only have a few things in common: They both bare the title of Guardian and they both weild Atiesh.
Thanks for your response...so you're saying that Medivh (the playable hero) is a corrupted version of Medivh, the Guardian (the host of One Night in Karazan)?
This is somewhat apparent by the names and the artwork, but I'm still curious: how is he corrupted? Is Medivh (the playable hero) considered to be an "evil" ie: treacherous figure? Has he become more (or less) powerful? In what ways are they different (or the same)?
Medivh's emotes seem so polite, although obviously different in personality from the cocky Medivh, the Guardian.
Probably not much lore related but more about flavor : How come Priest is the class that steals from the deck while rogue is the class that steals from the class ? The way I see it, a priest by reading your mind should be able to steal anything your class have access to, while a rogue is going to steal what's in your pocket (deck).
Is there something in WoW or Anduin/Valeera lore that could explain this ? All I can find in WoWWiki is that priest is a heal and rogue is a stealth class, nothing about stealing and after reading Wishmaster333 answer about Valeera's youth and living by thievery I'm thinking about a flavor fail from designers.
The way I conceptualize is it that by pick-pocketing you're getting whatever random thing that person has in their pocket, so it can be anything. Sure in WoW the loot-tables are limited but there's a lot of garbage/good stuff in there. So in Hearthstone the idea is that the characters carry all their cards, even the deck they aren't playing, in their pockets or on them some-where right so you just grab whatever as opposed to looking for something specific.
When priests read minds in lore they are usually looking for specific things and in game you would be searching for your opponent's tools to use against them. It's what they are thinking about to win, so you steal what they are thinking about is in their own deck. They wouldn't be thinking about random garbage not in their own deck.
If i am not mistaken, prophecy is that should the Old Gods corrupt a slumbering Titan, the Void Lords would triumph - and Azeroth slumbering Titan seems to be the most powerful ever.
Sargeras means to destroy any world, to prevent it from happening, instead of trying and fix each world. And then hope for a spontaneous regrowth of the universe, as it happened already for the first time.
Thus Sargeras crusade, the Burning Legion itself, may be a demonic force, yet its chaotic force was built to purge the universe from the Void. Destruction being a means, but not an end.
I wonder whether Blizz will ever explore this edgy path of Sargeras, who is a Chaotic Neutral character of sorts, not the Prime Evil as he was conceived at first.

Now onto the question:
Is there any character in World of Warcraft who inspects things like a quality inspector or keeps an eye/watches over everyone.
