I dont know how i feel about expansion competition, i think only very few ppl would actually participate, cause it would be SO demanding and when we QQ about one or two filler cards from blizz in each expansion, i imagine most ppl would have like 1/3 of the cards fillers, cause they would run out of ideas or it wouldnt be coherent at all. There would be several amazing ones for sure, so for that alone it might be worth doing, but overall, im very sceptical about that.
Which is why I suggested that we should have sort of a collaborative team competitions where groups of creators would be pitted against each other rather than individuals ;).
Why not? Would you rather have an expansion competition where only one person works on an expansion? That would be way too exhausting. Sure, assigning teams might be a bit difficult, but it would be well worth it, and lots of fun!

It's way more trouble than it is worth it for a questionable gain. So don't make entire expansions and just a single boss per wing or just the last wing with 4 encounters.

Errr…I'm pretty sure that I've seen people have made expansions before in groups where each person has focused on a single class. I still don't see the issue here. We could make a set number of experienced card creators working with a set number of new card creators.
It's not like people haven't been collaborative before. In fact, I think that you are one of the most helpful people in the discussion threads no?
For the love of god, no co-op competitions. Some people like working alone. I don't want to do some high school BS where I'm forced to work with some random person on a project, nor do I want the false freedom of getting to choose who I work with. These competitions are supposed to be fun. Extroverts will never understand.
While the idea of an co-op competition is cool, the execution of the idea is not. I would rather have an co-op expansion as an separate project instead than having it as an official CDC.

Haha, but don't forget that some people (myself included) can get amusement out of working with others. God damn extroverts.

I have an idea for a solution for this whole cooperation problem as well as the problem of exhaustion from creating an entire expansion.
Why don't we give people the option to team up with someone if they wish? Do you guys think that would be enough for an expansion competition to occur?
I'm skeptical of an expansion competition in general. That's the kind of thing that requires a lot of playtest to pull off correctly. Beyond that, finding artwork to fit around a unique, coherent theme would be difficult. I'm pretty sure we'd get yet another Northrend Expansion and yet another Outland Expansion and other kinds of low hanging fruit.
Instead of doing an entire expansion, perhaps the competition would be to create a proposal for an expansion. Create it's name, theme, and maybe a dozen cards or so that highlight what the expansion would be about.
Realistically, this would be how voting should happen anyway. Nobody has time to look over a dozen or more expansions and weigh them all against each other.
Also, is there going to be another weekly card comp soon? Tomorrow?

That's kind of a false choice. Not having a teammate will put you at a disadvantage because you'll have more work to do.

Stay tuned for more information on the WCDC later this week, as well as information on our next big competition, which as usual will start around the same time.

Don't worry man, I hear timmult and Aezuriel are still looking for a partner.
EDIT: I should note, this is merely a joke, nothing else.

If we ever do expansions, i like this variant. And u also point out one very crucial and usually neglected fact - most ppl dont look through tons of pics, they dont even look through regular WDC topic as much as they "should", let alone if u multiply the number of cards by hundreds.

Glad you like it. I can't take total credit for it. This is essentially how we did the first round of the class competition. Also, the Monk, Deathknight, Demon Hunter competition was similar too.

If you just create 12 cards, that's not a very big competition, though. That's like 1 week of work.

Right, and the point of an expansion of well..it's an EXPANSION. The very meaning of the word Expansion means a giant load of cards. Plus, it would be interesting to see how people react to producing so many cards. I've always seen people complain about how many "filler" cards there are. I wonder how competitors will respond to this problem...

Honestly i think like 15 ppl (probably less) would actually accomplished a coherent and well done expansion, rest of us would probably run out of steam :P
I thought about a co-op expansion comp too. Obviously there should be a fair assignment of teams i.e. veteran designers with beginners, etc..
Custom cards :
CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)
Please don't do enforced team stuff please.
