The expansion hype keeps on rolling! We've now seen a lot more about the new Elemental tribe and how they're expected to function, including our very own card reveal here on Hearthpwn, Kalimos, Primal Lord. We're looking for you to add to the collection.
Your card must either be an Elemental, produce an Elemental or interact with Elementals in some way. You have the Elemental tribe represented somewhere on your card, you're good.
We have whittled down ~140 valid entries to just 17 of the community's favorites. Check out all the finalists below and vote in our poll (vote for as many or as few as you like) to help decide the winner and be sure to check back after the poll finishes for the announcement of the winner and the start of a new theme! NOTE: Cards with a black border have additional material, like explanations or unique tokens, located in a spoiler at the bottom of the finalist gallery. They are listed in order of position in the final poll.
I think this theme turned out pretty well! My votes went to...
Over-Lodestone: I mostly love for being cleverly themed, but that its design is both believable and elegantly simple are also major points in its favor.
Fel Flame: This card has so much potential for Ozruk synergy, general discard synergy, and even just as a card that can be played on a flexible curve, like a bigger Forbidden Ritual. Probably my favorite finalist.
Elemental Trap: I like this one, but I'm actually of two minds because, although I know it was submitted before the Hunter quest was revealed, now I'm worried that it would be too good just with that Quest in mind. It's probably not fair to judge it like that though? Either way, I still like it enough to vote for it.
Cruel Pyromancer: This one is mine. ^_^
EDIT: I decided one more.
Lump of Coal: This one is mostly just very well-themed. I actually think it's a bit on the overpowered side, which is why I wasn't going to vote for it at first, but that's easy enough to fix by just lowering the Attack bonus to +1 or maybe +2.
Over-lodestone: Great pun. Great effect. The only bad thing is that it would contribute to the cancerization of ladder.
Elemental Trap: A simple card with a useful effect that fits Hunter. Not much more to say!
Honorable Mentions:
Hydromorph: I appreciate the fact that it's a versatile card that can be used both as a removal or as a token generator. It's a great card. The reason why it's only honorable is the fact that transforming a minion into 3 others isn't really a thing. How would it work? The only way it would is if only one minion is transformed and the rest is summoned.
Maelstrom Katalyst: An original, interesting and potentially useful effect... but the art sucks.
Eel-ementalist: This would be great if the card text was so bad. First, there's a blank line at the bottom. Second, the Eels are added to the end, not drawn.
Primordial Echo: Simple, clean but broken effect. At first I read it like "Add a 1-Cost 1/2 copy of the last Elemental Played to your hand" and frankly if it was this it would have been awesone, but as it is it's broken. Ragnaros the Firelord pls. Yeah I know wild is full of OP cards but there are limits.
Pepe tier:
Elemental, Dr Watson: Puns are great when the card they're on is great too but this card is underpowered af. Unconditional discover spells cost (1) mana and this has a condition. This made it to the finals only because of the reference, which sucks.
Tidal Elemental: Because it's mine. Allows you to have a more resilient [car]Mana Tide Totem[/card] or Wrath of Air Totem, yada, yada.

I think you're kinda nitpicking on Hydromorph. There's no precedent for a minion turning into three minions, but it is clear what this card does from the description. Also, transforming instead of summoning could be an important distinction, because transforming won't trigger 'on summon' effects. Blizzard may come up with a new word for this effect, like how they used 'merge' for Blood of The Ancient One, but most people would have understood that concept with transform instead of merge.
Maelstrom Katalyst: An original, interesting and potentially useful effect... nut the art sucks.
So you won't vote for my card because the art sucks?
Wow. That depresses me. :(
It detracts from the realism of the card when you use bad art, like screenshots from a game, or something like yours with a blank background. It is often interpreted as a lack of effort, because it isn't hard to find better art than that.
1st time voting on community card design and I must say: You guys are impressively talented! A lot of great creative thinking was put into this page. I am awwww-struck Many thanks to everyone who makes this community this great

True, but it stills bugs me and The Ancient One is still technically a summon! As a said it's a small issue though, the card is otherwise great.
There are some really outstanding entries here. I was a bit disappointed that my entry didn't get any votes, but I can see here that it wouldn't have stood a chance anyway. I'd say my favourite is Lump of Coal, just because it is so thematic. I also like the creative ways of returning elementals to your hand, and transforming Flame Elementals into something else.

Yeah my card was the same too. But that said, when you look at these cards they cards I would like to see in Hearthstone (expect for Elemental, Dr. Watson...). When you see cards which work well with the mechanics in hearthstone (like Lamp of Coal by using your hero power or using unstable entity effect to get the quest completed), it makes you realise that sometimes the competition may have a better idea than you can think of.
Still that said, next week is another opportunity. But seriously, there are some nice entries this week. Will be interesting to see who wins.
Great entries this week, must say. My favourites are Over-Lodestone, Burning Trickster and Hydromorph. I usually vote for a max of three, but I think there are lot of good entries, so I think I might have to throw in a few extras this time.
This is probaly one of the most interesting ones, and the one i fought with on page 2 for the highest amount of upvotes. And no wonder too see why. It introduces a whole new kind of Hunter Trap, which gives you fuel and synergy. What more can you want?
Cruel Pyromancer/Maelstrom Katalyst
I like the idea from Katalyst more. Whereas the Art, Flavor and Balance on Pyromancer is far superior. As a guy who understands just how hard it is to have good art and Flavor, i tilt a bit to the Pyromancer overall. Great Cards.
Burning Trickster
Great idea, tricking your way out of some conditions, by walking a different path to gain meet the goals.
Who i think is gonna win:
I am pretty sure Elemental Trap is gonna end as this weeks winner. The card's idea is pretty Unique, and introduces a class to a whole new type of deck. Whereas it also syngergises with the Hunter Quest.
It bothers me a lot how so many of these entries try to "cheat" synergy in cheap, boring ways. It kinda reminds me of the overdone "trigger your Combos twice" Legendaries and everything similar.
To clarify, I'm talking about Burning Trickster (this card is just so lazy) and the cards that return themselves to the hand. The Rogue 2-drop is probably the worst offender: there's absolutely no challenge in trying to complete the Quest with this in the deck.
Now, about that Hunter Secret... It's probably the most uninteractive one we've had since Ice Block. Not that it's too much a problem, but, well... I dunno, really. I mean, does it even need to be a Trap to begin with?
I feel like I'm being too grumpy, but these last two competitions just seemed so bad to me. It doesn't help that the central theme of the Elemental tribe is just playing on curve, one after the other.
Lump of Coal: This one is mostly just very well-themed. I actually think it's a bit on the overpowered side, which is why I wasn't going to vote for it at first, but that's easy enough to fix by just lowering the Attack bonus to +1 or maybe +2.
I could understand +2, but +1? Is it possible you're assuming that you can stack the attack buff with multiple Fireblasts?
Yes, but that's only a minor part of it. Mostly I'm comparing to Kor'kron Elite. Right now, your card pays the same price (4 mana and one card) for an Elemental with 1 more attack. Bringing it down to +2 would make its stats identical, but it'd still certainly be better because its play is much more flexible; when you don't need immediate damage, you can just pay half the mana cost for a reasonable Elemental you can easily buff later. It'd be one thing if the Warrior card were bad, but it's not, and yours is better. You could get away with +2 because of the game's general power creep and if you want to say requiring the expenditure of the Hero Power counts as a considerable cost, but I think it'd be fine at +1.
EDIT: Actually, I just realized, I've been assuming it wouldn't take damage from the Hero Power. If it still does, then yeah, +2 is fine.

If you hit it with Fireblast, it has 1 less health than Korkron Elite. There's also the restriction that you need to use up your hero power to buff it, whereas you are free to use your hero power after playing Korkron Elite. Granted, it should probably still be a +2 Attack buff, although it wouldn't have identical stats to Korkron Elite, then. It'd be a 4/2 Charge.
Ya I agreed with @asylum that Lump of Coal would be better if balance down to +2 Attack. And I personally think that it is a very good example of smart wording. instead of Inspire or Enrage, this card specifically stated that you must use a Mage Hero Power to ping this minion to gain its effect. Thus it cannot be abused by other classes to execute an OTK somehow (like the Raging Worgen OTK). Overall, I doubt this card will make its slot in any Standard deck but its definitely a Tier 1 card in Arena! (make sense to me since Mage has always been the best class in Arena) The only thing that bothers me is why such a good card like this was on the same page with my entry? TT
Find none of them interesting. Probably not the fault of us, but that the Elemental tribe and its synergies introduced by Blizzard is itself a boring mechanic.
