It's time to bring back Design Duels. For those who have not seen any of the previous threads, these Design Duels are always a 1v1 design competition between two anonymous players. The two competitors don't even know each other. For those who like to compete in one of these, simply send me a PM and I will set you up for a match. Lately I have been trying to do 2 duels at the same time, one New Comer Design Duel (for those who have not done a design duel before) and a Veteran Design Duel. Anyone entering duels for the first time is automatically a New Comer, but once you've completed your first New Comer match you're bumped into veteran status. If you are interested in joining a duel, just send me a PM and I will add you to the queue. So, without further ado, here is New-Comer Design Duel #5;
Prompt: Design an epic tri-class card (can be for any of the three classes)
I'm pretty sure everyone already knows the 9 current examples.
Entry #1: EndGiel1337 (Winner) Entry #2: Buhadog
1) 2)
As always, vote above and comment below!
Another very close match, where the winner was decided by ONE point! Congratulations EndGiel1337
Both of these cards are reasonably enough balanced, even if not 100% perfect, and they both have effects that are believable and elegantly simple.
I like what Demonic Drakonid does in that it takes the Kabal "Potion" gimmick that turned out being rather meh and gives it just a little more synergy potential. If I were to make a complaint it would be that the card is too slow at this cost, and I think it could have easily gotten away with a lower cost and smaller default body.
Bribed Auctioneer's biggest strength is that it's so superbly flavored. The down side, though, is that it mechanical effect is much "safer" and not particularly creative or innovative.
This is coming down to a decision between mechanical innovation and thematic cohesion, and I just can't decide. This is hard! ;_;
The Demonic Drakonid is cool in that it gives the Kabal mechanic a bit more support, but, like Asylum, I feel like it's just too high-costed and slow to make any real impact. There are also a few formatting errors, and small things like that do get to me a little (Potion shouldn't be italics, what looks like an extra space between 'you've' and 'played', why is 'Game' capitalised?). Great concept definitely, but, at least in my opinion, it could have been executed better.
The Bribed Auctioneer is pretty amazing. It's got flavour (The guy is bribed so he only gives you the good stuff), and actually quite powerful - very powerful, in fact (I think, I could be wrong). As a bonus, I would probably love to have this card and play it. The options will always be pretty limited, which gives some stability.
What Mewdrops said..a bit too much errors in #1, minion shouldn't be capitalised too...
I'm leaning towards entry #2, it offers great versatility, maybe even too much...Discover effects are the strongest in the game imo, and two of these would probably be played a lot.
Voting #1 for sure, i don't like the idea of all Hunters and Warriors running around with Tirion Fordring. #1 is much more creative, so despite the errors #1 wins by a landslide. I just don't want to vote for a card that has a chance this huge of discovering a Tirion, and that chance will never disappear in standard. It's already enough every paladin deck is running him, we don't need them running potentially three of them with Control Warriors fucking around with two of them as well. Slap in N'Zoth and fun times are coming.

Actually, we do, as the first two will get entombed anyway :3
I like both entries, but I have to vote for option one. Despite the errors, it brings actual synergy to potion use, something the Kabal classes completely lacked.
The second entry is cool but just feels way OP. Control warriors (and paladins) do not need access to extra Groms, Tirions, King Krush, or other big threats. Not only can you get two of these per deck, but it can easily be comboed with Brann turn 9.
I'm really enjoying what the New Comers are bringing to the tables. Let's see if the veterans will step up their game in the coming match. I know it has been a while, I stated in NCDD#4 that I was saving VDD#3 for Christmas day.

You know what? You have a point. Now that I think about it, the second entry is pretty OP. Maybe if it costed 8 so it couldn't be Comboed w/ Brann without the Emperor, or had crappy stats instead of being a decent-sized 4/4. I think I probably underestimated how strong it was - never was that good at balancing cards XD.
I might consider switching my vote to entry #1, although the errors are still putting me off. At least for now.
I'm voting for #2. While the concept for Demonic Drakonid is really cool and you could get some really nice buffs from it it, the potions themselves are somewhat situational and hold this card back. Bribed Auctioneer on the other hand has a lot of promise without being downright overpowered and many of the minions that you can get from it won't outright win you the game. Most paladin legendaries (Tirion Fordring, Ragnaros, Lightlord, Eadric the Pure) can turn the tables on your opponent and put the battle in your favor, the warrior and hunter legendaries are a little more situational but it requires you to adapt as best you can and I like that.
This is a hard one. a really really hard one. Both are reasonably balanced. Both are really cool. So, because they're tied in that sense, I have to go with which i generally "like more" and a metric i wouldn't use if the cards weren't both pretty balanced in my book and were so equally awesome.
So with the first, it encourages a very "cloistered" deck building style, in the sense that it reminds of Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, where text is really specific to the current set, and encourages a specific deck to be built with a specific set of cards in it. This is not necessarily a bad thing! C'thun synergy is another example of this (more general synergies or less "clositered" would be like synergies with spells or synergies with dragons that allow for more choices). Now, you would need to play two potions for this minion to be worth its cost (one is just a less buff boulderfist ogre with a dragon tag). The dragon tag makes it good in priest, and has the most synergy with dragonfire potion.
The second one has a draw back, poor stats, for an amazing battlecry. It's a great counterpart to gadgetzan auctioneer in rogue decks. I like this card more only because it will help people that don't have big collections (like myself) much like Jounrney to the Underworld.

JMAP94. The best way to love the artist is to love the art.
Congrats on the win EndGiel1337, you've made a great card, I wish you all the best in your future designs :).
I initialy had some second thoughts about which card to include, the second choise being a 8 mana 8/8 with a "Battlecry: Give a random minion in your deck +8/+8" but it seems more like a legendary minion instead of an epic one, which the rules stated :(
As for the balancing about my card, I actualy had a lot of time put into balancing it, it went from 7 mana 5/5 to a 6 mana 5/5 to the current version. I still think it's balanced as it is, it's basicly useless against aggro and wouldn't really make the cut into most competitive decks because of how slow and unreliable it is, but it's still a great alternative for players without many legendaries.

Congrats, both nice cards...it pleases me EndGeil1337 took to heart suggestions about wording and spelling ;)
While we talked about Tirion, Grom and all the other great legendaries, I remembered a great combo, imagine Bribed Auctioneer into Acidmaw (never played) into any AoE (cheap one like Whirlwind) xD
