This was an interesting week. Fewer participants because of the holiday, I think, and also probably because the theme was a more derivative one rather than something folks could immediately identify with, but I think it was a fun way to end the season. I have a few questions/comments/critiques about some of the cards.
Stormwind Phalanx: I think this is probably my favorite card this week. I think it made great use of its keyword both mechanically and thematically, and it's believably simple while still offering unique tactical options. If I have a complaint, it's that I think the card text is unnecessarily long; "until your next turn" I think would have been sufficient, no need got "the start of".
Cowardly Mercenary: I can't tell how this is supposed to work. Having "Defend: Stealth" runs into the same problems we had during our Enrage competition where we had folks trying to do stuff like "Enrage: Stealth" or "Enrage: Divine Shield". Those keywords to not play well together in any intuitive way, and while I think I get what you intend for this to mean, it's just too muddy for me.
Anubisath Crusher: This is brilliant. I think it could have maybe just been one card rather than two so it wouldn't be as swingy, but the concept of the Defend altering the parameters of the Deathrattle so that it benefits a different player is one that I think is interesting. The only thing that bothers me about this is that I wonder whether the Defend keyword would really be the best way to express this mechanically. I'm not sure, but I voted for this anyway.
Grimestreet Brawler: Already we have the anti-Jade-Golem tech incoming! I'm not entirely convinced this is a good idea, but I think using an Echo is not a bad way to go with this effect theoretically, and the card also definitely works very well thematically with the Gadgetzan expansion on the horizon. Also, I'm also admittedly a sucker for good beefcake in card art.
My favorite card this week, besides mine, of course, is Anubisath Crusher. It creates a nice dynamic in how you and your opponent deal with it. I think it is a little too powerful, though, as a 6-attack minion. You could just use this to keep hitting face until your opponent is forced to kill it, giving you two cards. Or you could give it Taunt. I think it needs lower than the vanilla statline. I think a 5/3 would be more appropriate.
I see issues with a lot of other cards, too:
Ragnaros, Rage of Sargeras - This is just straight up better than Ragnaros, by a lot. The thing with Ragnaros is that you can't attack with it. You have to just take the RNG. But, with this card, you can choose to attack if you want (say you want all 8 damage to hit face) or have it deal damage without taking any back if that's more advantageous. This is an unimaginative Ragnaros variation that's just crazy OP.
Monk Novice - Good thematic use of meditation, but this seems like it has the potential to snowball. If you actually get the 16/16, the ability to return all minions to hand every turn is just insane. You could use that with a charge minion and your opponent would never be able to play anything.
Stormwind Phalanx - Definitely too powerful. This minion has a vanilla statline, plus the ability to heal itself (it won't lose the +2 Health it gains on your opponent's turn when your turn starts unless it's over it's max health, so it's effectively a heal) and gain Taunt on your opponent's turn. Just not a good job balancing this.
Time-Lord Melchaur - What exactly happens with this guy? Are the duplicates shuffled into your deck?
Watchtower - Defend is completely superfluous on this card. If you removed "Defend" from the card text, it would have no effect. Enemies can only attack on your opponent's turn in the first place. A card that doesn't actually use the keyword shouldn't have made it to the finals.
Grimestreet Brawler - People overestimate Jade Golems, I think. Gadgetzan cards have all been released, and there aren't actually that many that can summon Jade Golems available to any given class. This kind of uncounterable attack is akin to hand, resource, and deck destruction. It's an unfun mechanic.
Also, congratz to ShadowsOfSense for the new red hue to his name

Hmm, I think I'll give some thoughts on the cards this time, there's only 12 so it's a bit easier =P
Ragnaros, Rage of Sargeras - I don't like it. It seems inherently stronger than Ragnaros and is just a clone of him, anyway. Not a particularly intriguing idea.
Monk Novice - Seems overly complicated and unnecessarily annoying for a new player to understand what will happen when they play it.
Antiquing - I think that it's too powerful at 0 mana, but I really like the idea behind it. A good use of the keyword thematically as a set-up and then execution of a plan.
Stormwind Phalanx - I don't like that it's a better Sen'jin Shieldmasta on the first turn, and then if it survives it has 5 Attack and can trade. Just overall seems a bit too powerful compared to existing cards in my ideas. The idea is excellent though.
Cowardly Mercenary - A cool concept in theory, even if the actual mechanics of it might be a bit weird.
Anubisath Crusher - A very well-executed concept for how Defend could be used in an interesting way. I think that two cards is a little bit too swingy though, I'd have preferred just one.
Time-Lord Melchaurr - I might be biased, but this is the exact sort of idea that I think would be implemented if Echo was made a mechanic. It improves Echo cards without being broken in any way.
Oozify - A neat little callback, although I can't help but feel that maybe it's a little weak with cards like Faceless Manipulator running around.
Watch Tower - Defend seems superfluous on this card. What would removing the Defend keyword actually change about the functionality of it, because I can't think of anything?
Boomer XP-500 - This is a cool design, I like the Meditate cards that forced decisions between attacking that turn or receiving their effect by using Charge. Not a huge fan of the art though.
Echo from the Past - A cool idea, and it provides neat synergies with other cards that Shaman has like Resurrect. I think its probably balanced, too, so great job!
Grimestreet Brawler - This is... a weird one. The 5/5 Taunt is very well-done for pushing Taunt Warrior, I like it, but the additional effect seems tacked on and not particularly flavourful. It also doesn't really make sense thematically why only the second one would reset it.
You can find me here! Good luck everyone!

To respond to some of the comments made on my submission Stormwind Phalanx,
Thanks for the comments. I must admit I was somewhat surprised with the positive response I got to the card this week. I didnt think it was exciting enough to garnish much attention. I just wanted to explore what Mediate did and could do. I think I learned alot this week.
I also wanted to add that I'll try to work on how I share my critique. I think I can come off rather harshly sometimes but that is not my intention. I think being critical is hallmark to good game design. But there is tact to be used when sharing critique and I need to work on that. Especially when having fun and exploring creativity should be the goals of the contests.
Tough competition this week. I think Cowardly Mercenary is my favorite but many caught my eye.
Edit: @Rhadan, yes this has happen to me before and I spoke to one of the mods and they said its just a visual glitch and doesnt influence the results.
Watch Tower is my favorite
The more I look at it the more I realize people have a point about Anubisath. I figured it would be more of a risk to play if the opponent had more of a chance to get two cards with low health. The original version seemed too weak at one card but I probably should've budgeted better. Thanks for the feedback though!
Great cards -
Echo From The Past- While I'm not sure that Shaman is the best class for it, I do love the style it pushes and the deck creation that can form around it. Charge decks, anyone?
Antiquing- The concept here is grand, enforcing a draw heavy miracle-esque Jade golem rogue, and really promotes the combo format for rogue. Great design all around.
Time-Lord Melchaur- Hard to evaluate in a world that doesn't have a lot of echo cards, but is a great concept none-the-less, threatening fatigue decks and possibly improving your draws lategame if you draft massive echo minions.
Best of luck to everyone this week!
My Entry for this week's Card Design Competition - Season 8.16:
Letting folks know just a bit in advance, the team's been VERY busy with all of the Gadgetzan stuff that's happened yesterday and today, so this poll never got generally promoted. Consequently, the voter turnout is noticeably lower than usual. But on the plus side, that means it consists mostly of our more interested, hardcore participants. =)
And congrats to Zanywoop! Man, that was a close one!
The Season Finale will be up shortly!
Finale Topic is up! ^_^
Wow, I'm actually a bit surprised! Good show all around!
