So with all the hype around the new expansion, I couldn't help but wonder what kind of cards and archetypes that Blizzard was planning to introduce. And so, it occurred to me that with all the hype prior to this point, and the general craziness of the meta lately, a lot of us have been formulating ideas for what we want to see this expac. And so, I'm a bit curious to see what card ideas you guys might have thought of and archetypes or mechanics you want to push. So if you could design a card for the new expansion, what would you make?
I myself play control shaman in wild, so I've been crossing my fingers for some well needed control shaman tools. Hence I thought of a legendary that I think could really push for control shaman, though it would probably be versatile enough to fit in some other archetypes:
So according to the devs, Gadgetzan is going to have a lot less random effects, so a card like this, which outright counters such effects, would be pretty interesting edition to the expansion. This shuts down effects like those of Rag, C'thun, and spells like Arcane Missiles and Deadly Shot (it would die in the case of the latter but would potentially block any important targets like Ysera). I think a card that directly interacts with randomness would be a welcome addition to Hearthstone and would really shine in control decks. I also added spell damage in order to deal with another frequent problem for Control Shamans, inconsistent board clears like lightning storm and elemental destruction, and this would give the card a similar power level to that of Thalnos, the gold standard for low-cost legendaries. It would also be fair, I think, to give shaman the only consistent spell damage minion, as that seems to be the direction the class is headed atm.
p.s. You guys don't need to go to HearthCards or anything to post card ideas if its too much trouble. Just post the card name, effect, stats and mana cost in your reply. Last time I tried to make a similar thread to this one nobody replied, so I'd really just like to see your opinions :)
I personally think it's way to OP. 3 mana for a card that butchers many cards and gives permanent spell power is a bit much even though sylvanas counters this card pretty well. I like the idea of countering random effects but it's too specific so the spell power is needed for versatility. Given that I'd probably make port diver a 5 mana 2/1 and the totem a 0/9 with the same text minus immune and with the addition of "Can't be targeted." which would include spells, hero powers, battlecrys, and normal attacks. Meaning only aoe or random effects can kill it so it's still really hard to get rid of (rag and aoe would do it) but it also can be dealt with eventually and that doesn't let you get the spell damage too early making spirit claws and maelstrom portal stupidly OP. Plus the random counter effect would auto win vs tempo mage if it came out too early witch is a bit ridiculous.
