Okay, I think this competition went pretty well. There are a number of cards that I think responded to the theme in really interesting ways. I want to go over some of my favorites, but first, I wanted to lay out some cards that I think really missed the mark by not even fitting the Druid theme. You had to make a Druid card for this competition, and it wouldn’t be fair if a card that is basically a Hunter card with the Druid colors slapped on were to win it.
NOT DRUID CARDS
Mammoth Calf (thorwaller) - This is a Hunter card. Hunters are the one that tame all sorts of Beasts, and that’s why they have all sorts of Beasts in their set. Druids have only a few Beasts that aren’t transformed Druids, and that’s species that are aligned with them, like Moonkin. Mammoths don’t make sense in this regard. Some people made cards representing minions like Nightsabers and Hippogryphs, which make more sense, as these are Night Elf-aligned.
Queen Krush (TwoSeconds27) - This is the worst offender. A re-skinned King Krush is not an appropriate Druid card. Druids have nothing to do with Devilsaurs. This is just a lazy design and a real affront to the competition. A giant Beast with no Beast synergy is also definitely not what Beast Druid needs.
My Favorite Cards
Wolpertinger (CasmX) - One thing I think the Beast Druid cards really need is better ways to get out cheaper Beasts to trigger their effects. Wolpertinger provides a continuous source of cheap Beasts, so it fits this need perfectly. It’s like a much less reliable (but 0 mana) Dreadsteed for Beast Druid.
Nutty Watcher (Telefonkabel) - Again, this provides a continous source of cheap Beasts for your deck. I also like how this is a “Can’t Attack” minion that encourages your opponent to remove it. If they don’t, they’ll have to deal with a continuous stream of tokens. It’s like a much better Moroes.
Nightsaber Leader (Hieii) - A very simple design that gives you a lot of value for it’s cost (4 mana worth of stats for 3 mana). But, you don’t get to control when that 1/1 Taunt comes out. This also helps Druid get out more, smaller Beasts.
The Beast Within (Lathy) - This was actual the alternate name I came up with for this competition. This one is like an Evolve for Beast Druid. You can use it in the same way, gaining more value from damaged minions, or ones with low stats for their Cost. Probably a little weak, but it’s not clear how you can buff it without making the description too long.
Tribal Convocation (Bibikis) - This was my wild card. It got a bit lost on page 1. I like the versatility of this card. I’m also a fan of Journey Below, and this gives Beast Druid a similar option. I also like the play on the 1/1 copy mechanic, which could be useful to create combos with cards like Jungle Moonkin.

Wolpertinger is an easy vote for me. Anyone who can design a balanced 0 mana minion clearly knows what they're doing.
Call of the Claw seems incredibly OP to me - 15 worth of mana for 10, Taunt, Charge and a combined effect (the token for it seems to be missing here?), seriously?
I'm voting for Mana Beast and Nightsaber Leader, glhf to everyone
You can't stop the signal.
Dang it, that was a close one! I almost got in, however, feeling Bibikis deserved it more than me, although I got more votes, doesn´t matters, he deservet it more, somewhat dissapointed I didn´t got in, but, meh, at least it was worth the try.
Although how much score I have for someone count it?
I voted for Mana Beast, Tribal Convocation and Wolpertinger, funny designs.
Especially, a message to Bibikis, that was a close one, our entries had similar amount of votes, however, your card was better than mine, it deserved to go, not mine, although I am a bit sad after it, but you deserved it.
The joke is you.
This week's theme is an interesting one, mainly because it specifies a class, and in doing so, makes me vote for entires other than the ones I would usually have voted for (For example, Hibernation is really cool, but would be better as a Hunter card). There's some pretty good stuff here this week, though.
Mana Beast and Tribal Convocation are my favourite. I like the first one because it's kind of like Malchezaar's Imp, except it promotes ramping instead. Simple and probably balanced. The second one is just cool all around.
Oh, and a quick question: I've noticed that the number of cards/wild cards are different every week. How does that work? Under what circumstances are wild cards chosen?
Why Rogue is my favourite class:
My submission for this week's card design competition.
You can find me here! Good luck everyone!
My favorites:
Wolpertinger; Mana Beast (although I think there could be better names for such a mythical beast); Goldrinn
Interesting but may not work well:
Pepe: I hope beast druid have means to remove it later vs. mage or tank war ...
Tribal Convoction: not sure if there is any beast that worth to be made a 2/2 copy of.
Hibernation: I like the idea, but druid doesn't have a lot interaction with freeze, and give a beast 2/3 skipping a turn is a considerable tempo loss given the current beast druid play style.
Mammoth Calf: Seems like a beast you play to be killed right away, not sure how much it can help.
Too OP (why even include it?)
Call of the Claw: seriously??? easily over 15 cost, probably 17 cost played for 10?
Big Game Hunter's Hunter: compare to shaman's OP 4/7/7. this has no overload, an removal and a chance to summon 2 7/7 because it's a battlecry. How is it not too op?
My favorites:
Wolpertinger – Not only is it perfectly balanced, CasmX understands what Druid Beast ecks aim to do: Have a board. This card is an easy source of cheap Beasts to get your synergies on. In Wild? This has to be an easy combo with Druid of the Fang.
Nightsaber Leader – Interesting use of drawing. Where other existing cards have done it poorly (unexpected AoE), this is almost always positive while not being OP. It’s also very flavorful.
Mana Beast – I would reword it to “Whenever you gain Mana Crystals, draw a card”, using Siege Engine as reference as it gains a buff when you gain any number of armor, not for each armor point. It’s definitely something Blizzard would design if they wanted a 1-mana 1/3 Druid minion.
Tribal Convocation – Balanced, I should say. The flexibility is amazing, as summoning a 2/2 copy of a friendly Beast like Savage Combatant can be a huge swing. Not incredibly OP atm, but it may be with more Beasts with good effects.
My least favorites:
Big Game Hunter’s Hunter – Feels like it’s just for the meme lols. Summoning a temporary giant Taunt is really good I must say, but “destroy a minion that killed a Beast last turn” is an annoying pre-requisite. I would’ve preferred “If a friendly Beast died last turn, summon a 7/7 Spirit Guardian that dies on your next turn”. Note that you may have lost finals votes because people didn't bother to check that the 7/7 was temporary.
Call of the Claw – An 8-mana spell that summons three 3-cost minions was ridiculed as Call of the Nerf and called Blizzard morons for not knowing how to balance cards. This is a 10-mana spell that summons two 5-cost minions and another that's arguably 6-cost, two of which can Charge face for 8 damage, two of which can tank 12 damage with Taunt, and somehow get this into the finals. Incredibly OP, and same as above, feels like it’s just for the meme lols. It also doesn’t feel flavorful.
Pepe – What are you supposed to do in this situation? If you have a ping hero power sure, but otherwise? Use spells? What if this guy gets Stealthed? If it wasn’t Pepe, it wouldn’t even be voted in here.
If you got the coin, the Mercenaries get going. Vote for The Mercenary for CCC #3.
Call of the claw is a nice troll :D But obviously too strong. Perhaps it should have: "cost one less for each beast u played this game" and the mana cost at start 15 ? To be sure to synergize with beast decks !
Love the tribes.
Love the tribes.
Tribal Convocation is a good card, it's weird that it had to be wildcarded. Maybe it wasn't flashy enough ? (still going to vote only for myself though :D)
@mods: Just to be sure, did you read my very last PM ?
Custom cards :
CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)
My vote went on Pepe beacause the idea of making a useless is genuinely good.
Thank you nurgling13 for your wild vote.
Good luck everyone.
