Competition Theme: Easy as AoE
This weeks theme comes from alexbroxman, whose "Flesh Imp" was the winner of our "Once Upon A Time" competition. As the title suggests, you'll be making AoEs!
Competition-Specific Restrictions:
Your card must deal damage to or destroy more than one minion on the battlefield at once. (We recognize that there are a few ways to effectively deal damage to or destroy a minion, like setting its Health to 1 or returning it to its owner's hand or shuffling it into a deck, but lets avoid those and focus specifically on actual damage and actual destruction.)
To clarify...
Your card doesn't need to always affect more than one minion, like Cleave, but it should do so as part of its normal function. I think we've all sometimes had to play a Flamestrike when there's only one enemy minion or a Brawl when there are only two minions on the board, and that's fine.
Cards like Arcane Missiles are also fine, as although their effects are random, being distributed across multiple targets is part of their normally expected potential.
That's not, however, to say that your card must do its thing entirely independently; Wild Pyromancer and Void Crusher would be considered valid entries, despite needing to be triggered by other game elements, because their effects are always valid when they are triggered.
As always, you may not delete any posts you make in this Submission Topic. Message one of the Fan Creation moderators if you've posted here in error or otherwise would like your post removed.
Remember that, although HearthCards is awesome, you must host your card somewhere other than Hearthcards, such asImgur or Photobucket.
Competition Process
Preview Phase (Starts Now! Ends 19:00 UTC 6/October/2016) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic is made available, previewing this week's competition theme. Entry and Early Voting Phase (Starts 19:00 UTC 6/October/2016, Ends 17:00 UTC 10/October/2016) During this Phase, the Submission Topic is made available for your submissions. You may also, of course, feel free to give early up-votes to any submissions that you like! Voting Phase (Starts 17:00 UTC 10/October/2016, Ends 17:00 UTC 11/October/2016) During this Phase, the Submission Topic will be locked, so no more entries may be submitted. Instead, use this time to browse the submissions and up-vote your favorites! Final Phase (Starts 18:00 UTC 11/October/2016, Ends 18:00 UTC 12/October/2016) During this Phase, the Discussion Topic will also be locked, and a new Poll Topic will go up. Discussion Topic Rules
To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
So any card the deals damage to or destroys multiple minions (without requiring synergy)? This seems far more open than other recent competitions

The first one is like a Multishot where you know what it's gonna hit, although it's very limited in what it can hit. If the right one isn't clear, it goes through each enemy minion and it randomly chooses to do one of these things: Freeze it, or deal 3 damage to it. So, this one is pretty random in its outcome.

Yes, this one is very open and basic. At the same time, though, it's a somewhat specific card niche, and as evidenced by our class creation competitions in the past, coming up with new AoEs that are both interesting and effective may be harder to do than it sounds. Broad themes like this really require you to dig deep into creativity in order to stand out. =)
Man, I just had a really similar idea. I was going to make it a minion, though. And the effect would be ongoing and just make your hero damage the minions next to whomever he attacks. It should be legal within the rules, as far as I can tell, since it causes damage to 2 additional minions that wouldn't have been damaged without it.
I was actually thinking about this over the weekend. How interesting...
Now that Tyrande is a Priest hero, it seems like Priest should acquire her signature move: Starfall. This is what I came up with. Nothing super original, essentially they're more powerful variations on cards already in the game. Anyway, which of these seems the most balanced?
The first one takes some inspiration from Consecration and the second from Holy Nova. The third was a little different. I was trying to thing along the lines of the original Starfall, while also being comparable to Flamestrike, but I wasn't sure how the cost should be affected by the fact that you lose the Choose One mechanic. Let me know what you think. Also, I'll obviously change the card art later, this is just a place-filler for now.
A recurring idea I've tried, but never submitted. It might fit well this week. What are your thoughts :) ?
Impractical af at 5 mana, I think even for 3 this would never see play. The reason is you'll hardly ever have more than 2 beasts so it can barely surpass Powershot (woah new card?). And if you do have more than 2 beasts you might as well go face and instead of clear their board have them get a big one and Unleash. Yea yea it has flavor and shit but it's just too bad...
The sole reason of it being so expensive is the combo with Unleash the Hounds. I think it would be way too broken at 3 mana, though 4 might be acceptable.

EDIT: Also has this idea. Not sure if it's too OP. And does it even fit the restrictions?
I think you're a little too worried about the Unleash the Hounds combo. The card is kinda unplayable without that combo with this cost. Also, the other card will not fit the restriction since it only destroys one minion. You can't count the act of attacking as destroying a minion, since all minions do that.
It's a delayed AOE with a number of restrictions. It's similar in theme to Corruption, although a lot easier to play, since you can cast it on a minion then kill that minion immediately after. Your opponent can play around it through good placement of their minions. Also, here are my previous ideas:

How come Circle of Healing (As stated from the original post) is not considered an AoE? It still affects the board state, except it heals instead of dealing damage.

Combos shouldn't be considered because they just balance themselves due to the lack of reliability. And combo cards that aren't good by themselves just aren't used anymore, like this poor thing Scavenging Hyena. Sure if it was 3 and you had your combo for 6 you could clear their board and smack them with a few doges but even then it could have been better to do some more direct damage instead of clear
Hunter doesn't need aoe board clearance. Deal 1 damage to enemy hero for each beast you control? lol
I had a very similar idea to yours, though a different overall design. I loved playing an unholy DK back in WotLK so I immediately thought of "Corpse Explosion" for my entry, but I did it as a mage spell (see below)
Since you already made a card with that name, I don't want to risk plagiarism, so I'm asking; do you mind if I use the same card name in my entry?

Would this qualify ? (if so is it good?)
Custom cards :
CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)
Was thinking of something like this. Not sure if the cost matches the stats/effect.

Flavour Text: "It reacts to everything, shock, thunder, Scamaz fails, Saltnad, etc."
How it seems, balanced or not, do you like the idea?
I think the theme its pretty easy, however, the hard thing its gonna be, its balance, that´s gonna be though.
PD: Sorry guys, I made commited a wording issue, it should be to all OTHER characters, so it doesn´t damages himself
The joke is you.

Hello~ I miss ZOO so much nowadays :D
Full board = 14 damage + spell power bonus
Comparing to Arcane Missiles, you need 9 minions on the board to make it even to cast 3 arcane missile.
I feel it offers zoo some board clear without doing too much damage to your own precious minions.

I think some nice Priest removals will come from this week's rules. None more deserving imo.
Check out my submission for this weeks card design competition; or my other fan creations! Nullius in verba
I made this card a while ago and I feel it's fitting for the theme, so there you go. Thoughts?
