Yup. Another expansion, another missed opportunity for the rise of Shadow Priest and a Shadowform-based deck. But I guess I should know better by now, if there was an expansion for this to happen it would be TGT with its focus to hero powers...
Aaaanyway, I was brewing on a Shadow keyword for quite a while, which would alter effects based on the mode you are in, and let more powerful effects happen if you have actually spent the tempo and deck slots for Shadowform.
As there are many effects based on mode, card text is usually too long to ever hope for actual implementation but I've cut it down to simply S1: and S2: for levels one and two of shadowform respectively and as you will see it can be used in many ways! I will try to upload a few cards to give you an idea, then continue with new ones if you want me to/like the whole concept. If anyone wants to post any cards with said keyword I'm always happy to see what you guys can come up with.
Note: S1 and S2 keywords only activate once when you play the card, depending on the form you are in at that time. If you activate Shadowform with any of those cards in play, NOTHING will happen.
MINIONS:
2 drop that fetches Shadowform early game (value since it draws a card AND has extremely good stats for a draw card) and it can act as a 2 mana 3-3 in topdeck mode. OP but necessarily so.
The vanilla minion you can play on curve after Shadowform as a 4 mana 5-6. Yeti at worst, boulderfist for 4 mana at best.
Tournament Medic is a useful card for Shadow. I made it a class card with use of the new mechanic to provide sustainability and a premium body. Powerful, and maybe even useful in other Priest archetypes. Priest of the Feast might seem similar too but this combos with hero power instead of spells.
Tempo 3 drop on Priest? And dragon synergy? Cry in your corner, SI:7 Agent! Definately a good minion in standard dragon as well, with extra incentives to spice your shadow deck with sweet dragon tempo.
The legendary. 7-mana dragon is the ideal cost/type of minion for this. Not too expensive or slow, stats big enough to warrant the dragon type. A vanilla minion with arcane missiles embedded without the ability active, or a powerful finisher otherwise.
Mega-heal or AoE based on mode. Can be a significantly more powerful Flamestrike in its best, an one sided Excavated Evil in the average case, or even a heal in non-shadow decks or emergency situations. Can backfire into a really overpriced Healing Touch though.
Redeem yourself for your shadowy past! If you outvalued an enemy with your superior hero power but drawing near death before you can capitalize on the advantage, if you are backed into a corner, you can let go of your shadowy ways to save your life! 6 mana card that also combos with BOTH hero powers on the same turn (assuming turn 10 onwards) for a 3-damage 12 heal effect in order to save your life. Opponent is offered a last turn to finish you off or you will almost surely survive from that point after, but your deck will no longer offer your shadow synergy and you will be back to a useless basic hero power. Cycles for 2 if you are not already in last form, so probably a 1-of. Really like this idea, but sadly its a complex one.
This does NOT feature the new keyword but fits thematically to a dark deck and also it serves as a potentially VERY HIGH heal (which shadow may need) with the restriction of having to redeploy your board after the use so you cannot easily use it when ahead on board.
Great idea and cards. But the wording can use some shortening, especially on Spirit of Redemption and Heart Release. But the deck still need something to access Shadowform more easily. Maybe something like this:

My 2 drop allows easier access to Shadowform and I wouldn't want TOO much of that because it could limit the power of my keyword. The difficulty (and tempo loss) in getting into S2 even with the apprentice is what allows me to up the power of those effects.
As for wordiness, agreed. But to my defense, in the actual game the card could only display the actual tier ability only. So in that case, it could be shortened significantly.
Example for clarity:
Spirit of Redemption would read: Costs (4) less. Draw a card. S2
And the text would change to: Revert to basic hero power. At the end of your turn, restore 10 health to your hero. Effect lasts 3 turns. It could maybe have a purple glow effect too in that case.
Smart way to save space. It IS a digital card game so you can make it so only the relevant text appears on the card and you could mouse over to see the S1 S2 text if you wanted to.
Good idea, but if u want to be realistic, u need to come up with an idea how to fit all the card text to 4 lines of text. So probably much simpler stuff on the spells and even tho minions fit, it still looks wierd.
To be honest, if Shadow Priest ever became a thing, i dont think they would rly differentiate if ur in "lvl1" or "lvl2" form, there is just not enough card space for that and would make the card text too clunky anyway.

Added an example to what can be done above. But yeah, it would be easier to make a single tier. My problem was, I wanted the added tier to justify more power to those effects, as I said above.

But still, I still think there should be atleast two different cards in the set that allow Priest to access Shadowform easier if the archetype would like to see play.

I understand that, but i think that the fact that it upgrades the dmg of the hero power (and resets it in the same turn) and will give u a chance to draw it more consistently is enough to justify putting 2nd copy of the card to your deck, if there would be minions that would actually synergize with u being in the shadowform and no need to make the effects for lvl1 and lvl2 separately.
If there would ever be a viable Shadowform deck, Prophet Vellen might be an ok turn 9 play with your hero power dealing 4/6 dmg :D Thats like slightly worse stats on Sea kraken, but potential for other turns to sway the game :D

This is amazing, great job on these cards!
Nice concept, a fresh air for this game that is going in the wrong direction. i hope that bran can give it a look

Minion is cool.
But spell is too complicated, simplified is necessarily.
RNG love me Kappa

Even though it is unrealistic due to text space, you present some very viable ideas, great work.
