Hello everybody! This topic is for discussion of our "The Rarest of Collections" competition. To make sure that everything runs smoothly, we need to reserve the Submission Topic for submissions only. Everything else goes here. What is everything else, you might ask?
Rules or Process. Do you have a question about the competition's process? Do you need clarification about one of the entry requirements? Are you not sure whether your entry adhered to the rules? Ask here!
Feedback or Ideas. Do you have some ideas you'd like to run by others before settling on one? Do you need help balancing or wording your entry? Do you need help finding art that will fit your card? Or do you just want feedback from the community on your entry? You're in the right place! Remember, although you are allowed to make minor tweaks to your entry after you've submitted it, you're only allowed one submission per week, so make sure that you've settled on your card for sure beforehand.
Discussion! Do you have thoughts on other people's entries? Are there directions you don't like that you're seeing too many people take? Or directions you'd like to see more people take? Would you like to help others and contribute to a greater community understanding of Hearthstone card design and balance? This is where you want to be!
All of that said, please refrain from the following:
Posting TONS of Ideas. Discussion topics become an absolute mess if everybody is posting a dozen different ideas. Please post not more than 3 distinct ideas at a time. Any more than that and we'll have to delete your post.
Advertising Your Entry. Please don't pop in here just to advertise your entry only to never be heard from again. This includes only asking short, generic, or insincere questions like "Thoughts?" or "Do you think this is interesting?". Yes, getting feedback on your entry is one of the purposes of this topic, but we're not just here for other people to help you. We're here for you all to help each other. 12 hours after this competition begins, there should be plenty of other posts here for you to give specific feedback or for you to comment on a trend. If you post your entry for feedback after this time and do not also offer some form of substantial commentary, critique, or praise of others' work, you may find your post deleted.
Plagiarism. Many people post their ideas here before finalizing them in the submission topic. Directly plagiarizing those ideas to post in the submission topic yourself is absolutely not acceptable.
So, without further ado, have fun and get creating!
Your card's effect must depend on the content or composition of your and/or your opponent's deck.
Although there are other deck interaction effects in the game (example: Beneath the Grounds, The Mistcaller,Tuskarr Jouster), their effects trigger and resolve based on factors other than deck content or composition, so they do not count.
I don't think content or composition of your and/or your opponent's deck is well-defined. For one, the example of Jousting not counting doesn't make sense to me. The outcome of a Joust depends on the relative composition of your and your opponent's deck, which seems like it should fit. Can we get some clarification on why Jousting doesn't work, and some more explanation of what is meant by the rules?
Also, Reno Jackson is given as the only current example, but it seems to me that Mindgames and Sense Demons fit, too. Mindgames contains the unwritten clause that, if your enemy's deck contains no minions, you get a Shadow of Nothing instead of a minion from their deck. Sense Demons contains a similar clause that gives you Worthless Imp. And, besides, both card's effect depend on what is in your decks in the first place.
This was inspired by Asylum's card last week. Does this fit the contest since its based on deck composition but technically has no interaction during an actual game?

I think by composition, they mean the overall contents of your deck. Joust picks a random minion in each deck. It doesn't poll the ENTIRE deck to determine the affect.
Yeah, we've had a good string of very well-defined ones, and it was about time we had a slightly more obscure one.
Competition-Specific Restrictions:

While the outcome of a joust across multiple uses and multiple games can certainly be said to be determined by what kind of deck you have, that's not the case on any individual use basis. Joust isn't checking your entire deck for any particular sort of composition. It's just pulling a random card. It's sort of the same reason The Mistcaller doesn't quite work. Technically, it's effect varies depending on how many minions there are in your deck to benefit from its effect. but the effect itself doesn't change or do anything different. It is admittedly a blurry line, and this is one of those weeks for which you may end up seeing some judgement calls and clarifications from us, but the competition theme concept was definitely interesting enough that we wanted to give it a go. =)
Welp, let's see if this works. Priests, start your draw engines! (Originally I wanted it to deal damage if you had MORE cards than your opponent. Not sure which, if either, is better)

I don't think this works for the rules because it isn't effected by the deck compositions. Just by how many cards are left.

Wouldnt Stalagg and Feugen count as a composition of a deck? Sure their ability depends on each other, but also on the fact if the cards r in yours or opponents deck or they cant trigger in a first place.
So, I suppose you could say that, in order to fulfill the conditions of this week, you would have to have a limitation to your deck, a specific condition to being able to activate the effect, if you will. And I suppose this concerns your entire deck, not just 'the last card' for example, even though that (arguably) has to do with the composition of the deck?
If the limitation is the only requirement in play, then thepowrofcheese's card does work, since its limitation is 'have fewer cards in deck than your opponent'.
I'm just another one of those. You know, those who do things. Things that need to be done by those that do these things in order to do those things that don't do these things themselves. Has the word 'things' lost meaning to you already?
Chalk me up as a person not fully clear on the guidelines. I figured I'd post my initial ideas here first, rather than just throwing one up and then being told I was on the wrong track.
First idea is this:
This would get its cost reduced each time there was a Joust (as that reshuffles after the comparison) as well as whenever any one of these cards were played. However, I'm not sure if "shuffled" would count towards 'content or composition' so I'm less sure of whether or not it fits.
My other idea I think is more within the guidelines, but I'm not sure how to word it right:
The intention with this is that it cares about the additional cards the get shuffled in during play. This I think fits within the guidelines more soundly because it's looking for specific composition elements. So if either player played a Forgotten Torch then it's cost would go down (1) because a Roaring Torch had been added. Gang Up and Beneath the Grounds would both add three cards and reduce this cards cost by (3). However, ideally I want the cost to then rise if you play that Roaring Torch or if your opponent draws an Ambush! Not sure if that's clear already, or if there's a wording example I can yoink, or what.

The misthowler is a scaled down Silver Hand Knight. Useful for a face hunter, but it seems a little too vanilla. Spellweaver is more interesting, but is it good enough to base a whole deck around?
Opinions? Wording ideas? Was pondering the class too, not sure about it.

Trying to mix the previous topic with this one. Any opinion about balance? Also, wasn't sure which class should be given this card. Chose red just for coolness.
Looking for a bit of feedback on this idea. I feel it needs tweaking. Could it be better worded? Is it even an effect that would be useful? I decided on warlock because they are likely to be in a position to benefit from this and Kil'Jaeden because they apparently wanted to assimilate other races into their army. I toyed with the idea of a spell card for rogue called rebellion which would have the same effect. Would that be better?
