This Week's Finalists
Restrictions:
One of the great things about Hearthstone is that each class feels different. That's because each class tends to have different mechanics- not just in hero power, but in card abilities as well. With the exception of some neutral cards, each class has a near monopoly on a few card mechanics. For this competition, we've chosen one from each class here:
The challenge is the following:
Make a class card that uses a listed mechanic from a different class, e.g. a priest card with windfury.
This card must still feel like it belongs to its actual class. That windfury priest card needs a justification for its white border. This can be via secondary mechanics, lore, or whatever you want; it just shouldn't feel out of place in its chosen class.
Druids can't use the hunter's beast synergy mechanic for obvious reasons.
We have whittled down ~220 valid entries to just 22 of the community's favorites.
Check out all the finalists below and vote in our poll (vote for as many or as few as you like) to help decide the winner and be sure to check back after the poll finishes for the announcement of the winner and the start of a new theme!
NOTE: Cards with a black border have additional material, like explanations or unique tokens, located in a spoiler at the bottom of the finalist gallery. They are listed in order of position in the final poll.

It warms my heart to see my entry lost with one vote to Holy Cow, a joke pun card, which advanced to the final. :)
May your nets always be full! 🎣
I'm voting for Guardian of the Grove. One thing pretty much everyone failed to do was to follow the rule that said your mechanic had to make sense in the class it is in. Most people made zero effort to do this. For example: Holy Cow. Just because something is a beast doesn't automatically mean it makes sense as a Hunter card. Hunters don't have anything to do with "Holy". Lore-wise, this should be a Paladin card. There is no reason for Hunter to get this card, and it shouldn't even have been allowed to make it here.
Another big problem is that people failed to properly balance Choose One cards. 0.5-1 mana needs to be allocated for Choose One. You can't make each option in the Choose One exactly the same as another class card. Then it is just strictly better than those. The worst examples here are Penance and Ethereal Blade. Penance is exactly the same as either Darkbomb or Holy Light. This makes the card better than Frostbolt, especially since it is a 2 mana deal 6 damage to anything with Auchenai Soulpriest (but still does the same damage as Frostbolt without the Soulpriest). And you just can't give other classes better damage cards than Mage. Notice that Wrath is similar, but can only target minions. Ethereal Blade can be the same as Fiery War Axe, or a Stormforged Axe without the Overload, which is just not fair. You can't make a weapon like that. The flaw in this card's design is that weapon attack and durability are not equally valuable. A 2/3 is better than a 3/2 (in general; don't give me examples where the opposite is true, because obviously they exist). The more durability, the more card advantage it can give you. You can only kill 2 minions with a Fiery War Axe, but you can kill three with a Stormforged Axe.
So, in summary, Guardian of the Grove is one of a select few cards in this final that both makes sense lore-wise and is actually balanced. And it is the most well-designed.

I'm somewhat surprised that the Warrior effect for this was "Enrage" instead of just "Self-damage" as a whole. We only have 2 cards that say 'Enrage' on them. There are twice as many neutrals as that.

Huzzah, my first time in the finals! Good luck all!
By Jove! That's a splendid card isn't it, what? Jolly good show, old chap! *slurps tea*
The problem with Enrage this week was that so many entries mistook it for a "when this minion takes damage" one-time trigger. If that was the case, Grim Patron would be an Enrage card. Ah well, still a fun week. Too bad about Holy Cow, I guess it just fills the quota of one silly finalist per week.
Also, I just noticed that the Combo effect on Flame Storm is completely redundant. The card would function exactly the same if Combo were removed from its text. Sure, Edwin VanCleef does something similar, but on a minion it is functionally different. If EVC didn't have Combo, it would have to be replaced with Battlecry, and Battlecries interact with other cards. And if it was a battlecry, it would activate if it was the first card you played that turn and give your card a +0/+0 buff. Combo avoids this happening. Plus, since this isn't a rogue card, how can you justify putting a completely redundant Combo on a class card?

Yeah i noticed this the first time i saw the card. The Combo is completely pointless.

Is it just me or is Blood of the Pitlord ridiculously overpowered?
Look at this... or else: http://www.hearthpwn.com/forums/hearthstone-general/fan-creations/43518-coilfang-reservoir-a-hearthstone-adventure
My personal opinion is that the more blatantly overpowered ones are Despicable and The Hidden Page, although I do love the theme of The Hidden Page. It's a clever idea, but it should not cost (1). (3), at a minimum. And Despicable needs to cost at least (2), if only because it's card draw in Rogue.

Why is Holy Cow an Epic whereas it could be a Common?

The thing about Hidden Page, though, is that it's already the cheapest source of Spell Damage in the game and it's being given to a class that has more ways to abuse spell damage boosts than any other. If it were just a (1) mana spell that gave a minion Spell Damage +1 and that were it, that would already be awesome. But the thing about Combo cards is that they're supposed to be overcosted when not Comboed, and that's why they get to be undercosted when Comboed. Because Hidden Page is already awesome when not Comboed, the Combo just sends it over the top. The card should cost (2). That puts in on par with Bloodmage and Geomancer in terms of expensiveness of Spell Damage, but also has the downside that it requires you already have a minion in order to benefit. This makes it worse than those cards when not comboed, which it should be.
As I wrote in my answer to ShadowsOfSense, yes, there is a good argument that spell is quite aggressively costed at 1 mana, and 2 mana might be better balanced. Well, it is what it is for now. If Ben Brode calls and wants to implement it, I'm happy to have that discussion :)
What you guys think about Blackwater Loan? I aimed for a versatile and thematically fitting card and went through a few different iterations until i settled on this one. I'm super happy it made it to the finals this week, but i was wondering what you all thought about it from a design perspective.

This is my first time reaching the finals. I just wanted to say a big "thank you!" to everyone who voted for me :)
About the keywords.I don't really understand what is suppose to happen when combo happens. You get what I mean? I mean like why lorewise would the cards you play during this turn have a different or an extra effect just because you played at least one card before it? Are you trying to distract your opponent by playing a card so Undercity Valiant has time to sneak in 1 damage?
