I was just curious, what type of meta does everyone actually want to see in the game.
There are a lot of posts complaining about aggro decks, but there would be an equal amount complaining about control decks if those weren't around.
Collectively, what would be a suitable shift for the meta? Slower decks? All Aggro? All Control? I really want to know what it is that people actually want to see.
I've added a poll here for a lot of the common deck styles. If you select other, I'd really like to know what that other one is.
I'm guessing that's battlecruiser / Timmy games, where the games go long and both players have time to get to full mana so they can sit back and king-hit each other with huge minions until someone's dead.
I'd like to see most decks be midrange (60%) with a healthy but not huge amount of expert decks (control/combo primarily) at maybe around 20%, and then maybe 10-15% agro or zoo (less competitive than now but competitive enough that they're good fits for beginners/new players) and the rest experimentive/gimmick decks. That'd be my ideal meta.

Yeah, I think that'd be a pretty good spread.
Zoo decks are really good for beginners, but can also be a nightmare if the player actually has experience--that's the problem with them now. They are still awful at like rank 15-25, but that's just the player.
I kind of feel like, in every game, people favor the control/combo/midrange spots. Take a look at WoW. When WoD released, and they went towards the melee meta, everyone bailed. It's not because "melee needed a chance to be good", it's because people prefer that style of play.
I voted mid range. I'd explain my logic, but it would read roughly the same as PT_EU's post. The current meta seems a bit too heavy on aggro and it's awful to have a high volume of 5-7 turn games when there are so many great cards in the 6-10 cost range that are essentially dead cards b/c you aren't likely to make it deep enough into the game to play them.

I'm a pretty big fan of mid-range decks myself. I also really like control decks.
My biggest thing, is that the meta should allow you to be able to plan ahead, or at least not be so faceroll that you never have to.

A deck like Ramp druid that is slower in the beginning, but gets out of hand at the end. Slow-ramp.
I want to see variety, and not just a bunch of sheeps playing the flavor of the moment, I think this month i never met a zoolock, a control priest, an oil rogue, or even a freezemage, it's only dragon priest, secret pal, control war, druid and the occasional patron and handlock. There are so many cool decks that never see play like malygos rogue or Dragon mage or Molten giant warrior that are god enoughfor ladder it s just sad that most people just play what they see in the top tiers on liquid hearth or tempo storm, or even the front page of this site it's really a shame even at low ranks now it's just netdecking and bm all over the place, and casual mode is just the same people care too much about their little yellow stars and achieving their quest in casual mode as fast as they can, it just killed any form of experimentation and variety in the game, i wish no one could do quest or gain gold in casual then we could actually maybe have a chance to see some unusual things there.
call me crazy, but i dont see all these aggro decks people keep complaining about.
normal match ups are all control except hunter which is an aggro class after all.
i face the most secret pally, dragon priest, handlock, and combo druid. none of which are aggro. of couse aggro pops up, but it is not a problem.
maybe in lower ranks people just use aggro to speed up to the ranks they really wanna grind?
i usually toogle between 10 and 12, but when time allows between 5 and 10. for the record, i never broke 5, but i hear there are less and less aggro decks the higher you go. and that makes sense.

It really depends on what people feel like playing.
I regularly see people stream and switch decks 4-5 times a night. Some go to aggro, some go away from aggro. It all really depends.
If a deck is good, you will see it at all ranks.

So far almost half of the people who've voted say control decks are the best meta. That's a pretty overwhelming amount.
Which cards do you guys think should see some more playtime than they're getting?

Any meta with just one archetype being too popular isn't good. A good meta is diverse with ample amounts of each archetype.
what does slow ramp mean?
I'm guessing that's battlecruiser / Timmy games, where the games go long and both players have time to get to full mana so they can sit back and king-hit each other with huge minions until someone's dead.
It's the other way around. Control is the most desired meta, because there are so many aggro decks.
