Hey guy, i recently started playing so i am not sure if this is a good idea or not.
If a card that is already silenced is again silenced (silenced twice), then the silence would be removed. I remember hearing that hearthstone developers pay attention to player feed back, so i thought i'd share this idea, letting this idea circulate, though i am not sure how original it is.
I think this would add some more interesting game play. I am not sure how often new cards are added, but this may be an area to expand upon, though the druid, shaman and priest classes already would have an advantage.
Interesting idea. I see one theoretical and one practical problem.
Theoretically, a silence doesn't target a specific effect, but it targets a card. Which means that silencing a silence is not possible. A card is removed of all its effects. Silencing a card twice means the same thing, all effects are removed.
Practically, a silence removes effects like temporary hit points. The silence itself is not a new effect. After the removal, new effects may be applied. For instance, the Sen'jin Shieldmasta was a 3/5 with taunt and divine shield because it had been buffed by an Argent Protector. It was silenced to a 3/5 with no effects, but +1/+1 and taunt was applied afterwards by a Defender of Argus. Now if another silence is used, the new effects are removed again (based on the current rules). Based on your idea, the old situation would be restored. But which old situation then?
Good point. so lets say i posses this silenced 3/5Sen'jin Shieldmasta that once had taunt and divine shield but now only has +1/+1 by Defender of Argus , then if you silenced it, then all the effects would be removed. (it would be a 3/5 only) But, If I however silenced it again , or i guess unsilenced it, then it would get the previous buffs back, the divine shield and the taunt back (the cards effects).
so i guess all the additional buffs would have to show underneath the card, even if it was silenced.
Now what is a buff is another question i suppose, like a +2/-1. I am currently thinking if your opponent used it on your card it would be considered a debuff, but if you gave your minion a +2/-1 then it would be a buff.
Also, maybe silence should be replaced by another word. Can't think of the right word right now.
