That^ being the DW as it should currently be in game, the one in the article is either an older version (unlikely) or a brand new one.
All in all I can live with losing 4/4 off the card if it means not having to disard my hand. I wonder very strongly what else they changed though, if this is a new change.

Deathwing images are always been the 12/12 "wipe the field and your hand" version. So this is for sure the new one. Maybe a new patch incoming after the maintenance?
I think it makes more sense to keep him as he is, he's self destructive towards the end which reflects in discarding your whole hand and being 12/12 represents him being the strongest card in the game by raw base power. Until they add some other potentially more powerful figures.
I see this Article posted by Ben Brode, and noticed they changed Deathwing! Now its finally playable :)

What do you think about it? Without the previous horrible drawback, it seems very powerfull now.

Now i'm a sad panda :)
Well I just checked live and he is still a 12/12 destroy minions, discard your hand, so I wouldn't read too much into this till it actually happens.
Deathwing is meant to be played when you're both in top deck mode to get you the win. You don't play Deathwing when you have 4-5 cards in hand.

Are cards discarded "to the graveyard" or back to your deck?
Discarded to nowhere. There is no graveyard, the cards are unrecoverable. They do not go back into your deck.
