The only thing that bothers me about Mysterious Challenger is that it's a 6/6 for 6 mana which makes it the best competitively viable 6 drop in the game stat-wise. Then there's the battlecry that just brings it over the top.
it's just ridiculous. 6-mana, 6/6, draw 4-5 cards, play them all. and what's worse, the pally secrets comboes with each other. also, paladin never loses board presence, their early plays are too much of a headache to clear. this is like undertaker hunter all over again.
I am sorry, but if you are leaving any minion on board when vsing pally, its because your going face and that is a mistake that ALL paladin players will capitalize on, not just the MC players.
1. it's too big for what it does itself/most often is not affected by big game hunter either
2. it draws at least about 3-4 cards when played at a reasonable time, turn 6-10 without any downsides to it at all
3. it thins out your deck, so you actually draw minions or more "useful" cards more reliably
4. it costs too little mana/comes down too early in general
5. if your opponent is reasonably behind or even on board, he basically lost the game/ you putting the nail in the coffin for the win when already ahead
6. although you mostly know what secrets are active when your opponent plays it, it's still too hard to play around without getting a huge disadvantage still, even if you make the best choices to play around it
7. & one of my personal pet peeves of cards like it; it takes basically no skill to put it down on the board. just watch your opponent struggle or get rekt by it without you having to do anything to make it good, besides putting these secrets in your deck and having luck that you have it on curve or close by
8. it draws SPECIFIC cards, which should be valued way higher than things like arcane intellect, azure drake and what not. still it doesn't get affected by a downside in any way (mana cost, stats, etc.) / same with mad scientiest, which is way too good as well
Mysterious Challenger Card draw is worth 1 per secret playing secrets is worth 1 per card as well
That makes the MC in best case scenario: 2*6 - (6+6) + 5 + 5 = +10
THAT is why MC is broken and not because of the things the op said :)
You clearly have no idea about mana costs, card balance or any desing mechanic whatsoever.. I suggest you get a degree and apply for R&D if you think you can do it better. Most probably tho, you can't and won't, so take your clever suggestion elsewhere.
Dude, can you please stop trolling around ?
All you said are like vomits to me. Disgusting and make no sense.
If not, explain me where is the fairness of the card ?
As you are probably one of the playes I think are disgusting and emetic, I hope you don't get upset if I return this complients to you. The card isn't broken. It isn't unfair. The fact that you don't know how to beat it doens't make the card so. I've just seen people on Twich beating it with CW several times, and thats a hard match. Fairness is such a missconception. I can say its fair because you have to end turn and wait.
What's really unfair with Challenger is pally just drops him and YOU need to think of all the possible ways to get rid of those secrets and that 6/6. paladin cards just take so much resources to remove from Minibot to Piloted Shredder to Challenger. To beat it you need to be either minion-heavy or removal-heavy.
Sure, you can beat it, but you'll get a headache doing so.
See, the main thing with the argument here is the whole "Value" part of the card and in all posts, once they state the value, they STOP talking about the game itself, as if its over. "Oh, hes got more value now!.. Im doomed!"
Yes, MC does bring value. So does Dr. Boom.. But the argument does not end with the value they bring, it ends with how you deal with the value they bring and once you've determined that there is no way to deal with that value, THEN the card should be deemed OP.
Now, we also have to take into account the scenario of your shitty aggro deck getting bad draws, while the MC player getting good draws. That is going to happen. You are not going to win every game. NOBODY wins every game and if you did, you would be the best in the world. I can tell you right now, if you are unable to play around MC AT ALL, you are not the best player in the world and in fact, are far from it.
There are MC players who are going to be able to play around your Big Game Hunter. You have to anticipate that and if you don't and have no answers, then of course you are going to lose.. That is why the player is playing that deck, that player is relying on you being a "Weak" player. There are also a multitude of players who are going to follow up their MC with a Dr. Boom. That is a LOAD of value that is probably going to take a turn or 2 to get rid of. It happens.
I personally have seen MC 3x on the ladder so far, no more games then that. All 3 games went, MC, Dr. Boom, Tirion. Thats how they went. Did i rage? Of course. Did i lose? No. Their massive value play did fuck up my combo and i was unable to attain lethal through the way i normally do, but simply through board control and removals, i was able to handle it. (WITH NO BIG GAME HUNTER)
If i can do that without a big game hunter, i am pretty sure you can deal with a fucking single MC play. By the way, i run a paladin aggro divine shield deck that is probably the most cancerous thing to ever exist in hearthstone to date.. I don't even run Tirion or a single legendary or any secrets, its just pure fucking cancer and i love it.
It's far too easy to play. Not even boom is that easy.
You can construct some very far-fetched scenarios where it is wrong to play it on curve as soon as possible, but it will hardly dent your winrate to ignore those.
Its effect is better than say Sylvanas', yet it has 1 more health/attack and you can run 2 of them. Wtf? I'm just convinced that Blizzard likes to make OP decks because they cater to people who want to win with brainless decks.
Yeah Secret Pally has a counter. Thanks for pointing that out guys. The counter is to play an even faster brainless aggro deck, because SP kills control and dies to a good Face Hunter. Know what? That's even worse.
It's not super overpowered. It just requires so little thinking bots can play it perfectly, is very powerful for being so easy, punishes control or thinking decks and rewards vomiting your hand faster than the pally.
And that's why I hate sp and the card that makes it, and you should too. And of course the card is op as fuck, that's not even a discussion. Decks with dr 7 could work without him. Decks with Dr 6 exist ONLY because this card is so strong. Few other cards make entire decks viable.
Paladin Midrange. Now go get'em son.
Thanks bro. That 60/40 matchup totally addressed all my/our concerns. Serious q: are you just trolling? To answer "yes", you may also question my skills and whether I've made legend (yes).
Legend proof or never happened. Just kidding, Legend only proves that you play the game consistently. If your concern is how to beat MC without face hunter I've already answered. Notice that your problem seems to be that you don't like playing vs a certain deck, which is a matter of 'nut up or shut up' to me.

Yeah, this is the core problem. It's too easy to play and the deck it figures in is too easy. Comfortable to play, I'm sure... and relatively competitive at that, so no wonder it has become the staple deck in rank 10 to legend. Facehunter, for example, requires far more to play optimally.
It's only balanced by being somewhat inconsistent, but that doesn't really speak in its favor. I'd rather see strong decks be balanced by potential for misplays. The inconsistency is also often exaggarated.
But of course, when a deck makes up almost a quarter of the encounters in rank 6+, it's going to be defended to death. That goes without saying.

This guy is a newbie troll, you guys can ignore him.
what is it that you don't understand or have to take things out of a certain context? Noobs cant win vs MC because they suck at the game, be that Face or Control games. Midrange Paladin is a good deck vs MC Paladin. If you can't win with etiher, Control Warrior, Freeze Mage, so on ad infinitum, nut up or shut up. And if you need a troll to reveal all those wonders in this trollish, uncaring and soft minded tread, then keep feeding it. It'll be back.

So it's the second time you talk about "people being unable to play around it", it feels like you're implying we're all retarded. Dude we all know that in the very best scenario Mysterious Challanged is gonna fetch a Noble Sacrifice, an Avenge, a Redemption, a Repentance and a Competitive Spirit, and we know how to play around against each single one of them and in which optimal order.
The real problem here is the amount of value that single card can put on the board all at once, especially with a deck and a class which have already so many consistent and efficient card on the curve.
Let me give you the average scenario:
T1 Well met! Secretkeeper/secret (or Coin + Shielded Minibot if going second); T2 Shielded Minibot (or Juggler if you have an uncontested board for some reason); T3 Muster for Battle (or very seldom Aldor); T4 Shredder; T5 Loatheb; T6 Christmas Time; T7 Dr Doom, T8 Dr 8. <====== you could almost always unconditionally play this sequence without even knowing what cards your opponent has played and still chances are you would have done the most optimal plays, that's the problem: too many efficient minions/cards (many of which are class restricted) on top a disgustingly overpowered card which grants insane tempo and is not even a legendary, so you can slot 2 copies of it (which makes it 2 times more overpowered and consistently drawable on turn 6).
Everyone here has tried to explain you the reasons why the card is blatantly broken, both in term of the sheer value it brings to the board and the amount of resources needed for the sole purpose of barely countering it and removing the threat: nothing helped making your replies and comments remotely meaningful or constructive to the topic, and it's so obvious you're biased and in complete denial that's not even worth taking the time to read them. /ignore, have a nice day.
+1
What I don't like about facing secret pally is that playing versus an idiot and playing vs a good player is dangerously close in terms of difficulty.
Not that I enjoy being outplayed, but at least that feels more fair and I feel encouraged to continue playing and getting better. I have to admit that secret pally decks is ruining HS for me. That might no worry anyone but me, but that's life.
Enough with the personal attacks. Either discuss the actual topic or leave the thread alone.
If you can't discuss the topic without resorting to personal attacks against people that disagree with you then there's likely a warning with your name on it waiting.

It's like dealing with Dr.7 using a swipe and a wrath. And you were like phew that was easy? Yes you countered that card! But you wasted your turn dealing with one card. Sure light bomb does it too but it's a board clear card for one card! And for Dr.6 theres no guaranteed combination of removals and you wouldn't even draw all your 'combo pieces' to clear it.
Well, i'm implying that most players make suboptimal choices when faced against a deck that they think is retarded, unfair, and so on and forth, since your main goal is to keep focus and have a winning mentality. The basis of this thread displays a total lack of both, and so, the posters mind set is wrong, which in turn makes him a bad player. Retarded is someone who, knowing this, keeps repeating the same mistake. In this case, it can be 'not changing your attitude'. Keep playing, stop asking for nerfs, and so on. Otherwise, the retarded person is the one calling retarded to everybody else (ex, MC players).
he real problem here is the amount of value that single card can put on the board all at once, especially with a deck and a class which have already so many consistent and efficient card on the curve.
Let me give you the average scenario:
I don't need your 'average bullshit' to know how the deck works, or the cards that are powerful and the mana they cost. Simply put, if those where the best lines of play in the game and they are the absolute best thing you can be doing, then why isn't everybody playing that or a counter? your assumptions are flawed, and so it's your logic behind an 'average draw', versus what I think it's a 'god hand'. Hope you know the therm.
"Everyone here has tried to explain you the reasons why the card is blatantly broken" Sorry I couldnt quote this one.
No, the explanations are poor (talking about imaginary things, like you do) or wrong (saying something good is broken). Instead of trying to convince me while declare that you will ignore me, keep playing and get better at the game.
