I feel that if you're going to give people an option for a card that is cheap removal at the expense of a card, or a stronger creature for its cost at the expense of a card, then you should actually have to discard a card. I find that its a little unfair that people can play ALL other cards in their hand, and then play Soulfire/Succubus last which makes it so that they don't discard a card because they don't have any left. There are PLENTY of cards that can't be used under the conditions described on the card, why can't Soulfire and Succubus be the same thing. To give an example of a card that can't be played unless the conditions described on the card are met is Forked Lightning. You CAN'T play the card unless they actually have 2 or more minions on the field.
When running both of these x2 I'd always get in a situation where I had two of them in my hand and one of them would just get wasted. The more of these cards you have the less situations you can get in where you only have ONE of these left for a "free" play.
well then it wouldn't be that much of a big deal if they changed it, right? I just find that it just doesn't make sense that you can play them without having to discard your cards. As for "The downside of getting to use those without discarding is that you have no cards in your hand which is really, really bad.", if you just dumped 3 of your cards onto the field so that you can play your Soulfire/Succubus without any additional drawback, that just means that you changed your hand into board control. Additionally, its not AS bad having an empty hand in comparison to other class because they have the ability to draw cards, without having their card draw cards available to them at the time.
I feel this is a complete non-issue. It's a small perk when you are able to use the card this way, but it's not game breaking or even unbalanced. The fact you can lifetap does not make it any better that you have an empty hand. That's still 2 life + 2 mana you have to spend.
