You're not killing a mana crystal. The druid starts at 2 mana. You pain it. They end at 2 mana. Nothing lost.
You lose the Ramp and unless your running a low curve deck it does matter.
And if you are running a lower curve deck, why would you want a bad Mechwarper?
How does it matter? You don't lose anything, they burned some removal on your 2/3... that's it. You obviously don't play it over Wild Growth but the point is to have more consistent ramp options rather than relying on 2/30 cards (or 4/30 if you include innervate).

Because when it dies, which it will most of the time, you need a 3 drop to play or you lose tempo and a card for nothing. If you play more 3 drops you need to cut even more cards, which defeats the whole purpose of a ramp deck in the first place. The card does nothing to help you consistently ramp, its only good if your opponent does nothing for the first 3-4 turns.
Great card especially in Midrange Druid. You can play this on turn 2 then if it survives (it almost always does) then you can play Shredder/Keeper turn 3 then if it survives another turn then you can play turn 4 Druid of the Claw and after that you have basically won.
