As a player that often solitarily uses druid to climb to legend, this card is going straight in my deck as a 2 of.
For those saying it's worse than shredder, you're looking at the card wrong: If you play it with 4 mana available then it's a Lost Tallstrider. That's bad. If you play it for 6 mana it's a balanced Fire Elemental. And a balanced fire elemental is still ridiculously strong.
And if it sticks around for a turn you get a second Darkbomb out of it, which happens sometimes, making it strictly better than a Lost Tallstrider unless you're trying to mill someone with their Acolyte of Pain or a strictly-better-worse-fire-elemental - which, you never know, could be better than fire elemental in some situations.
I feel like a lot of new players will cast this for 4 without realising how weak that play is.
Its also not a 6-drop, its a solid 4-drop, if you can innevate it, it will likely survive, then you can compansate the card loss with a valuable hero power until its on the board. If you have 2 of this, thats a 5 damage hero power. IMO this is the best inspire minion that has been released by far.
^ Someone who gets it. Also, if you only kill 1 minion you're already paying for the Innervate. If you're past turn 6 and don't have Wrath or Swipe in hand you're probably only going to play this when you can get immediate vallue out of it. The soft taunt attached to this card also grants the 2-for-1 dream.
Also, Emperor Thaurissan will help A LOT those kind of hero power decks.
What's funny about the "Piloted Shredder is better" argument is that during the GvG reveal phase it was "Yeti is still better" in regards to piloted, we know how that turned out.
Decent card, i like it on curve as i like shredder even though i dont think it will survive the turn but at least the opponent will spend his turn dealing with this.
Playing this on turn 5 feels bad, id prefer a shredder anyday.
On turn 6 we get to activate the inspire ability the turn we play it as well, dealing 3 dmg and using face isnt that bad,
Turn 7 i play the savage combatant and hero power and have 1 mana spare which is just a way worse fire elemental. if the combatant is already on board and i use the hero power i can play a Clawing Druid. If i had a Lore in hand and played it, i would wish my Combatant was a Shredder instead. Its weird with the curve.
It isnt as good as Fire elemental because it cannot pass taunt , does use face, weaker stats. The only upside to it is that u can spam the inspire if it keeps surviving.
Trades favorably with belcher. if u spend hero power too it kills the token in the same turn.
Vs piloted shredder it is a matter who gets the initiative on board,
Combatant dies to pretty much every removal or any combination of removals up to 4 mana so tempo wise shredder is better as are 5 health minions that are harder to remove. Same goes for card/resource advantage as well, usually shredder's double body requires more resources to deal with, than a plain 4 health creature.
Savage combatant can face for 8 dmg next turn compared to 4 from pilot but messes up your curve if you use your hero ability. So it seems a bit like overload(same tun) to me if you want to take advantage of the card. It is flexible of course meaning that if you dont want to, you dont have to hero power with it every turn, but if you dont hero power and play on curve why add this over a shredder or even a yeti or a violet teacher. Maybe you want to have a pseudo claw for whatever reason if you need it sometime in the game?
Overall im happy with the card, even though imo seems more geared for casual play given it doesnt really fit ramp-combo druid decks but more cards will be revealed and new decks will be tried so he might find a spot somewhere.
Maybe if u spent previous turns playing other inspire minions or have at least 1 inspire minion other than combatant on board ,the hero power usage might seem worthwhile to use. So it might be more of a synergy like mechs rather than strong inspire singleton cards.
If this card was a 4/5 it would be way better but it`s ok like this too.Good in Arena , not good enough for Constructed. The only time we will see this in Constructed is when a hunter gets it from a Webspinner or a mage from Unstable Portal.
If this card was a 4/5 you'd whine in this thread for powercreep. It is good enough for constructed. It is one of the best 4 drops in the entire game.
No , I wouldn't "whine" about it.By not good enough I mean I don't see it as being an auto-include in the current meta druid deck but i might be wrong.
Druid needs more beast synergy cards. 5 mana 7-7 is the only one. I do think one more strong beast synergy card that has effect on the board right away could push it. Maybe a board clear triggered by having a beast on board. Cool would be either a taunt+buff or a beast triggered AoE with the choose one effect meaning you can play the card as a buff if you dont have a beast , or if you do have it use the stronger AoE clear if needed.
A 5 mana 7/7 isn't even that good, since it just gets owned by bgh.

I like this card, would prefer it was 4/5 though but still. If you can play this and kill something on turn 6 when you have 3 damage it's already good enough. Kinda like a fire elemental only that it can't go through taunts.
Don't see them printing yeti with ridiculous upside any time soon.
this can be crazy if you get this form Unstable Portal/Webspinner/Piloted Sky Golem
Why Savage Combatant is better than Piloted Shreder?
If you innervate shreder next turn u probably hero power for 1 - do nothing
If you innervate Savage Combatant have strong follow-up for sure.
Next step for Blizzard - make a Druid version of Savannah Highmane.

This card is maybe a real BEAST, yes.

I dont think this card is that good. I find it hard that you would switch shredder for this. The 5/4 stats makes it easy to remove.
Druid beasts:
1) Savage Combatant
2) Druid of the Claw
3) The snake one
4) Malorne
5) Power of the wild
6) Druid of the Flame
Hunter beasts:
1) Hyena
2) Dogies
3) King of Beasts
4) Savanna Highmane
5) Godzilla
6) Krush
7) Animal Companion
8) Snake trap
Well, when will druid receive a good tribe synergy besides crappy snake druid?

I love this card, but there are a few aggro openings that wreck this innervated card. For example Flame Imp + Mortal Coil.
I don't really like the Druid play style at the moment but this card is making me want to make a deck and wing it :D
If it was 4/5 it would be auto-include in EVERY druid deck. Just like Ancient of Lore.
I'm legitimately scared about hunter getting this one from Webspinner. Holy crap.
Love this card, new Meta Beast Druid ???!!!! Lets see.
+ Claw, +Bite, +Savagery
*heavy breathing*
I think that the druid is THE class to get the most out of hero powering. So much synergy already created for him.

Beast druid with 1 synergy card only, just sucks.
So? Doesn't really matter for hunter that just heropowering from the midgame.
Cough inconsistency cough
A 5 mana 7/7 isn't even that good, since it just gets owned by bgh.
Get well, bro.
Don't see them printing yeti with ridiculous upside any time soon.
6 mana 5/4 give your hero +3 attack and 1 armor.I like this card
