Use the copying secret and echo of Medivh and this can be pretty broken, especially with the new cold drake providing multiple pings and the reduction of hero cost to 1, this may be very powerful for the burgeoning echo decks. I have about 60% win ratio with my echo deck and this would push it over the edge. also excellent in combination with flame walker. It's actually an excellent addition to enable echo decks without strengthening other mage decktypes too drastically.

Because this "Deal 2 damage" can be "Deal 3 damage". This effect stacks. It'll also be mainly found in a class that can make more use of the control aspect of the card, where Steamwheedle Sniper falls in a class that currently is more aggro oriented, and therefore can't really use the control effect well.

Cards like Flame Walker and Arcane Missals leave a lot of cards in 'Ping' range, but also a lot of cards just out of ping range. I know many times when I'm playing mage and I just need an extra bit of damage.
I will say that Steamwheedle Sniper may have had an indirect buff from Justicar.
People are forgetting that this is a rare and not an epic. Steamwheedle Sniper costs 400 dust and is a lot harder to get in packs. It will see more play simply because it is a rare and not an epic.
Yes, The deck I envision is very minion heavy, with duplicates to save the hero power minions and perhaps even 1 Echo of medivh. Use the hero power for some of the missing removal and dominate the board.
This is a piece of crap in constructed, right? Maaybe if some inspire-mage gets viable in the future, but it just seems way too slow to be of any use. On turn 4, this+ping is simply too weak, and later, its even worse. It would have to be +2 damage to be close to viable, it could at least kill a shredder, but then the shredder itself would be insane when he drops this.
Got a golden one (have 2 normal), and kept it because I collect golden mage cards, but I seriously consider DEing it as I will probably never ise it in a deck...
You're right. The card basically reads "4 mana 3-2 deal 2 damage". It isnt crap by any means, it's comparable to SI:7 Agent when the rogue doesnt have the coin, but Mage has much better cards to fill the 2 mana slot (Sorcerer's Apprentice). Not to mention, on turn 4, there's Piloted Shredder which is pretty much mandatory if you got it on curve.
Edit: except its not comparable to SI:7 at all, since you also get a 3-2 dagger from that play. Bad example.
