I was wondering, does anyone hava any experience what happens with Hellfire being played while both players will die due to effect? It it counted as a draw, loss by the person with the lower health (and if so, what if they have the same health), or loss by the person who played the card as a suicide?
I played it during an arena match, while both players were at 1 health. I received a defeat message, but it did not count as one of the 3 losses for my arena deck.
from what HSRorix said it might be able to be used as a get out of jail free card in arena. life tap and then use hellfire if you have no choice. did you submit a bug ticket for that or ask for clairification?
From what was said before beta if an attack kills both heros then it's a loss for both players, as the effects of the attack resolve at the same time. There is no draw.
What happened in the Arena with it not counting as a loss, I don't know. Might be bug, might be intended. Only way to find out is asking the blues for clarification, at this point.

I know this post is 2 years old, but just wanted to say that this just happened to me in ranked. I used hellfire when I had 2 life and my opponent 3. It wasn't a win, neither a defeat. It was just a draw. It's false that both players lose, not even the "you lose" screen appeared.

This is incorrect both players do in fact lose during a draw. P.S. Locking this necro.

I believe it just ends up as both players lose. You can see at the end of this video and by the comments made by the players. Go to 22:45 and watch.
