Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good card but not as insane as people think for a number of reasons.
Firstly, it's not something that you can play when you are behind and under pressure as the card doesn't do anything to the opponent and the board.
Secondly, the mana reduction isn't always relevant when you are floating mana. For example: 6 mana Dr.Boom/Lore on turn 7. Killing your opponent with 5 mana 5 card combo when you have 10 mana to do the same thing.
Thirdly, there are some big minions in BRM. Hungry dragon, dragon consort, and fireguard destroyer are gona come out before the Emperor and trade favourably.
Last but not least, it's not a good when you are topdecking.
The thing with Emperor is that people often misjudge the value they get from the card. For example, you have 6 card in hand when you play it and people will think they got 3 innervate. But that is not the case, the value of the card is only obtained when you play those cards in a turn that you otherwise wouldn't be able to.
For example:
If you have 7 mana but you have a 6 mana dr boom and no 1 mana play then the reduction didn't matter.
If you have 8 mana and you have 4 mana loatheb and 3 mana shade then the reduction on loatheb didn't matter.
If you have 8 mana and you have 4 mana loatheb and 4 mana belcher then you gain an innervate.
Also, you don't always have the choice the max the value when you are playing a real game. You don't throw keeper out against a paladin, you don't throw loatheb out against a freeze mage. Are you not going to play 6 mana dr boom on turn 7 and play loatheb and keeper because they are on curve? Off course not?
you are probably get 3-4 mana worth of value when you reduced the mana by 6. Because when you play the multiple cards in one turn, you are going to have less cards in your hand and more likely to float mana. So it's a diminishing return. It really averages out because of that.
And we already ignore the fact that you may draw this card late, can't drop it because you need to drop taunts or heal, or your hand is crap.
Sure it can win you some games out of nowhere but so can unstable portal, would we call it OP ? Probably not.
Well, coin emperor into Boom works fine. In handlock, as i found out, it's working perfectly, because the watcher/sunfury/darkbombs/mortal coils will become 1 or 0 mana and fill the gaps. + U can always play ur hero power, which is never a waste like when druids hero power just to spend their mana.

Yes, It is a strong card . But as a 6 5/5 legendary minion , the ability needs to be relevant.
A lot of people think that by throwing Emperor Thaurissan in any deck they're going to be able to capitalize on his effect and do degenerate things and that is simply not the case. While yes he can potentially get value in decks like Warrior he's definitely at his best and most degenerate in spell based combo decks, those being Oil Rogue, Freeze Mage and Fast Druid. The reason for this is because the cost reduction from Emperor actually lets you win the game faster or play enough cards in one turn that you can maximize your burst damage. This is especially true in the rogue and mage decks because they tend to hoard cards far more than druid does thus maximizing the potential for benefit. Enabling plays where you can not only dagger up but throw down a 0 mana Southsea Deckhand and Deadly Poison combined with the usual Tinker's Sharpsword Oil and Blade Flurry is normally a 10 mana combo but with Emperor T is reduced to 6 mana allowing you to do it immediately following the Emperor's descent on to the board drastically decreasing your clock to the point where your opponent simply doesn't have enough time to interact with you and prevent the lethal burst combo. Even some Freeze mage lists have begun replacing Pyroblast with Malygos since he allows for absurd burst combos if you can reduce the cost of him and / or some combination of either Frost Bolt and Ice Lance with a maximum of a potential 34 damage burst combo if you can reduce the cost of all 5 cards with Thaurissan by just 1 mana.
TL;DR He's definitely an unfair card but he's not universal in his enabling of unfair interactions.

It is good in combo decks, but the problem is that you can't rely on him too much as you never know when you are going to draw it. It's also a signal for the opponent to drop lotheb next turn or the turn after.
dude, 5-5 stats on a 6 drop is fiiiiiine, see the shield maidens. Hunter will kill command it, druids will swipe/wrath or have to trade their big minions in an so on. If your opponent cant kill it right away (will sometimes happens, but ofc not every time), the value he gets is like infinite.
5/5 for 6 is an all right body now. But in BRM , there are bigger minions as I mentioned above. Also , it's legendary minion so you need to take that into account.
How does freeze mage lose a game? It seems to me that there are 2 scenarios:
The Freeze mage gets overrun and don't get the right combos of stall/removal and can't keep up with heals/blocks. I don't see the Emperor really helping that much here, he is a very slow play which will probably result in the mage taking way too much damage.
A warrior armours up forever, here speeding up the big combo turns and/or getting way too many fireballs from Antonidas might actually be what gives the mage a fighting chance. Or is the mage even the favorite in this match up now?
Apart from this I don't see Thaurissan helping that much. Sure it will seem über gross when the Mage makes the big killing combo even worse but most of the time the opponent would have been dead anyway so it will only be his feels that smashed - not the game balance.
Yeah, some times he might get you the extra mana you need to finish an opponent but most of the value goes into overkilling that opponent.

Wahahahhhaahah! If you want a linear game without strategy or card choice grab a friend and a standard deck of cards and play "war" because this game is not for you. If you like critical thinking and enjoy accomplishments then join the HS club and dig in. ET is soooooo balanced its almost like HS was trying to prove a point by releasing him first. Stop trying to sound intelligent because if you disagree about the cards status you are anything but... If you disagree just replay and Ill send you screen shot after screen shot after screen shot of me owning people that are using ET netdecks. Hes not a game changer hes not OP hes simply a change from the drool standard of the masses.
For me works better in high curve decks. Try out in pally, warrior, handlock, and very late control mage, and in fact the effect its no like a ramp, but always give you options to tempo plays if its summoned in turn 6 o 5 whit coin. Wins Games ? Not sure but ten tempo plays some times are amaizing.
Yeah what Thaurissan does is potentially far more powerful. Unlike Shieldmaiden your opponent can rarely afford to leave that 5/5 body alive on the board or else they can pretty much instantly lose the game as the snowball potential from decreasing the cost of every card in your hand by 2 mana is potentially gamebreaking in what it will allow that player to do. Thaurissan is actually so threatening that players will use removal incredibly inefficiently to deal with it. I've seen handlocks spend 6 mana to play Hellfire and Darkbomb just to prevent the Emperor from surviving another turn. If people used to complain about Dr. Boom trading efficiently for your opponent's cards when played on an empty board they certainly haven't seen anything compared to when the emperor slams down on a board uncontested.
So I'd certainly have to agree with Ntlya that the stats are certainly fine for the mana cost. Honestly I'd probably still play the emperor if he had significantly worse stats than he does now since you're basically just paying the mana for a one time usage of his ability and hoping you can turn that in to a game win, which oftentimes you can.
Maybe people are sometimes overreacting to the Emperor at the moment? I mean if someone 'throws away' removal that might actually be worse than letting him live for a 2nd turn? It might be wrongfully adding to his perceived strength?
Granted I haven't seen him in Handlock yet, for some reason no streamers seem to play handlock at the moment. I can definitely see that handlock might be THE deck for him just for making Jaraxxus+other stuff being playable in the same turn.
I've seen lots of games where he was played though and in none of them he really seemed to turn the game around and many times the person getting him down first didn't actually win sometimes even if he stayed for 2-3 turns.
Yes, that is arguably even just as much important. He is like Sylvannas in many cases, who gets you often 'hidden' value even when she doesn't steal anything, just because your opponent has to make inefficient plays to deal with her or can't use his mana to play big minions. Emperor has an even stronger impact, since he needs to be dealt with ASAP, so he'll often force your opponent to leave 'building board presence / control' behind and use resources to get rid of him. Despite that he also brings you guaranteed value, since he triggers at the end of your turn at least once. (Assuming you have a card in your hand) If you look at the card, you have to consider this, since the effect is only half of what makes him good.

That card is really OP unless you're using facehunter, the value from that single card is so huge, especially if you have <4 cards in your hand
Yeah, some times he might get you the extra mana you need to finish an opponent but most of the value goes into overkilling that opponent.
Yes, it's very strong when you draw it at the right time with the right hand.
