Ehhh combined with the Blackwing Corrupter and Flamewaker this seems like mage could be heading toward a more complete burn build, which sounds pretty fun to me. Also has good synergy with Flamestrike, indirectly buffs Antonidas in the late game, and really really doesn't fit in mech mage well since it's so expensive without trading in some of their board, which hurts that deck a lot. All in all, I'm okay with Dragon's Breath.
The picture is awesome at least and I do think this will find play in some Freeze mage lists. It's nowhere near a solid card that you can just throw in most decks, though. Very niche, like Pyroblast.
No, Freeze mage tends to wipe the board on their turn 2-3 times per match with Flamestrike, Blizzard, or Explosive Sheep. On those turns they can throw this card out for 0-1 mana, 4 damage to the face, taking them slightly closer to their goal. Or they can Flamestrike a board and kill a Ragnaros the Firelord with this.
The card just doesn't work in normal mage, though.
It has been clear to me that the main focus of BRM is to slow the game down a bit but they really are trying a bit too hard to force this and I am not sure it is going to work. People aren't going to play around this card or stop playing zoo/aggro/face simply because potentially at turn 6-7 the opponent might blizzard/flamestrike and get a free 4 damage for holding two cards and only if you are quite overextended, at turn 7-9 it is more likely but . The actual chances of this having value are fairly slim and in the event of some other sort of board clear earlier on like an explosive sheep it is kind of pointless because you are only going to need to knock off 2dmg at most from anything else left on the board.
Freeze mages that can nuke people for 8 damage, totally free, the turn a Doomsayer goes off. If you still think this card is bad, read that sentence a few more times. Free, means that you can do this the same turn you Alexstrasza. Or Antonidas. Or in conjunction with fireballs for 20+ damage a turn.
Or on turns you need to iceblock/barrier/heal to stay alive. Freeze mages often end up in situations where they don't have the mana to both stay alive, and set up lethal. This lets you do that.
People talking about token decks, Onyxia, trading in minions, etc. are all bad and missing the point. This card is amazing.
Or just, ya know, use a flamecannon for two mana. The more I see of BRM, the less inclined I am to purchase it. The card is beautifully designed, but direct damage cards like this become a total hindrance when you have to combo them to maximize their use. My mage already runs two frostbolt, two fireball, two flamestrike (What? I like a clean board!), and a flamecannon. This card might have my attention if it dealt damage like a fireball, OR just cost one less for every minion on the field, but every minion that DIES? No thanks.
I keep seeing everyone consider this underwhelming and going like "Ehh 2 cards have to die for it to be OK" minions die so quickly in this game it'd be hard for it not to cost at MOST 3, Especially in Mech, trade a 3/2 on their harvest golem ping the 2/1 with hero power and then blow away their 4/4 Technician for 2 mana.
By far the worst spell mage has. This has to be a joke. If it cost 3 mana with that effect, it would be playable.
What an awful card. You'd be able to use it effectively so rarely, like if you had 4 minions die in a turn. Such bad design.
>> If it cost 3 mana with that effect, it would be playable stupidly broken.
FTFY. This card is very decent. I think people are drastically underestimating how often 2 minions will die in a given turn. I would say that happens on most turns, it's rare that a minion doesn't die on a turn. So we are talking about a 3 mana 4dmg spell easily, but more likely it will be a 1-2mana 4dmg spell if the Mage player is patient. Does someone want to tell me that's not worth a card slot? Let's see here, the possibility of Flame Strike + free dual breath doesn't sound the least bit appetizing to anyone? How bout the synergy between this and Goblin Blast mage? How bout the synergy between this and Onyxia? Hey, what about the synergy between this and Dr fricking Boom!? You really wanna tell me all that is not viable?
Yeah, the more this is being discussed the better it starts to feel. Come to think if it, I'd run Shadow Bolt in Mage if I could...and even outside of Freeze mage, this could be used to good effect sometimes. The new spell Mage archetype that arises from Flamewaker will likely run this.

It is underwhelming for exactly the reason you state. Let's explore that scenario, at turn 4-5 you have expended a 3 attack minion, a spell (3 mana), and a hero power (2 mana) to clear two 3 mana cards. 2:2 plus a hero power is underwhelming. BRM doesn't change the basic values of HS and this scenario prior to BRM is just OK and it will be just OK after.
This card is tricky to judge properly. I kinda need to see what else is in BRM, and know what the meta's like. I can see a lot of potential in an Antonidas deck, where you're already running freeze mage things. Hypothetically, you do the board wipe combo (Doomsayer + Frost Nova), and everything dies, fairly easily making Dragon's Breath free. You drop Antonidas and double Breath your opponent. They essentially cycle themselves, so it's not like you're losing a ton of card advantage. It also has obvious potential with other board wipes, as well as Boom Bots, which always cause at least 2 minions to die. Could be one of the best cards in the set, but if the meta's wrong, it could also be one of the worst. Pick it in arena, removal and direct damage is always good in arena. Probably not over Fireball though, you need to build around this card a bit.

Hearthstone is a math game. If you think it's overpowered, do the math, compare it to other similar cards, and then if it doesn't all add up, complain about it being overpowered.

What a junk card, I can't see anyone using this.

Not sure if good but pretty interesting card. I think it will see play.

That's incredibly easy to do and the last time I checked Shadow Bolt could not hit any target.

Was excited when i saw mage was getting a 5 mana card but then its not really a 5 mana spell i just dont think it will see play
2 minion need to die for it to get average value i think is a bit much to ask
You're (almost) all bad.

I wonder if this spell goes down to 1 mana, does it activate Gazlowe? I'm guessing not.
