Interesting card, but it will be very difficult to get multiple activates out of it unless you can buff and heal it. The problem is that most things you can damage the egg with will also kill any whelps you might have. The Nerubian Egg is much more straightforward, so unless the dragon synergy gets really strong I don't see much use for this. Also pretty bad in arena just cause you can't reliably activate it.
I do not like this card solely because I am certain that IF it sees play, it will be on cancerous aggro deck which Hearthstone already has plenty.
That is all.
IF it sees play, it will be in priest and warrior decks. I don't like aggro but these 2 classes have ZERO viable aggro deck atm so this is fine if Dragon Egg helps them building one.
It will 100% not be played in an aggro deck. This card along with black wing and the other new card promotes the player into making synergy decks with the synergy of the cards not being swarming the board but buffing them or keeping them alive to gain the most value from them. These cards are built in a completely different way then the mech cards were and will require people to actually think about combos and value when there playing there cards. There will most likely be a dragon that requires a certain amount of dragons either in hand or on the board making the egg a combo piece. The egg is a card that if not buffed or comboed is a terrible card unlike nerubisn egg which only goal is to get killed. It seems like blizzard has actually listened this time and are making more control and skill oriented cards. Look at the new warrior card aswell, rampage+bouncing blade = 10-20 dmg to face behind taunt. Pulling of a 20 dmg combo behind taunt from your hand is hard but if you can make this work in a deck it will insanely good. It also warrior which has the abillity to stay passive until it has drawn the combo.
Surely the existence of Nerubian Egg makes Dragon Egg better as they work with many of the same enablers, adding redundancy and consistency to a deck which uses both?
The only hope for this card is probably the 2/1 whelp has some other abilities that has not been revealed yet...OR it must have some synergy with other BRM cards ...otherwise I am fairly certain it is going to be a useless card.
This card is like Nerubian Egg in that it will tend to stick around in the early stages of the game, when people tend to have about 1 creature with 2 or more attack (aggro might have a few more with lower attack values, but you won't use those to clear the egg). The tempo loss from attacking a 0/2 in order to spawn a 2/1 is too great, unless you can clear the 2/1 whelp immediately, and at that stage, you generally can't do that efficiently.
Sticky cards are great for buff classes. If the egg sticks, that's more time to draw the Velen's Chosen, Power Word: Shield or Blessing of Kings. And at that point this card becomes a bit silly: If the opponent is committing resources killing the buffed egg, they struggle to remove the whelps they generate, and that lets the whelps get value.
tl;dr - this card is good in a deck designed around buffing stuff. It probably won't work if you just try and shoehorn it into an existing deck and expect it to fit.
I do not like this card solely because I am certain that IF it sees play, it will be on cancerous aggro deck which Hearthstone already has plenty.
That is all.
What aggro deck would choose to run a minion with no attack that doesn't do anything. The card has a place, but it's hardly aggressive.
The same way zoolock uses Nerubian Egg.. and it's an aggressive deck..
I think this card requires too much for little it's good on shaman though since shaman likes having worthless minions to buff with Rockbiter Weaponor flametongue totem it's a bit better as a body since it costs 1 mana and it's sticky not like other 1 mana cards..(except pre nerf undertaker) it might be useless a whole match though.. but on shaman or warlock every body on the field counts.
But neruabian egg and haunted creeper are better well depending on the dragon synergy.
It doesn't suck - it just doesn't work in any current tier 1 archetypes.
Do people just want cards which improve existing decks or do you want to see more deck options?
Dragon Egg will fit right in to the under-the-radar Warrior combo decks, which like to deal burst damage with Raging Worgen given Charge with...errrm....Charge while gaining Windfury from Cruel Taskmaster or Inner Rage before being buffed by Rampage.
This burst turn typically deals up to 22 damage but the deck also needs to deal 8-16 damage from other sources in order for this to be lethal.
Dragon Egg neatly combos with all of these enablers while also offering a means to deal much of the required additional damage extremely early on in the game.
Thus, I feel that the card has been purpose-designed to boost a strategy that already lies just below the current range of competitive decks and may well enable the strategy to enter the main stream.
Will BRM enable combo Warrior to become a tier 1 deck? Who knows, but I certainly appreciate that Dragon Egg represents a definite effort by Blizzard to promote it.

Dear you and everyone, stop comparing the two eggs like this. Nerubian Egg works in Zoo because you're trying to get value from and/or ultimately kill it (with Power Overwhelming for instance). For the Dragon Egg to do well, it has to stay alive. So using Abusive Sergeant and running the egg into a 2/2 will give you a 2/1 and that's the end of it. There are better aggresive options.
There are better options, like this card is legitimately scary with Sword of Justice. 1/3 that spits up to three 3/2s. I like this card for a paladin swarm deck.
Not saying this a super good concept, just a fun one :D

It still has value even if it doesn't stay alive since it's replacing itself with a 2/1 at worst in most situations aside from stuff like Shadow Word: Pain. It has similarities to nerubian egg in that it doesn't have value by itself, but it costs less mana at the expense of a smaller replacement spawn. It's probably on par if you can deal 2 damage to it (at a lower mana cost) and potentially better if you can exploit that further with toughness buffs and spawn more than 2 whelps.
Although there are some comparisons to Nerubian Egg, there are also comparisons here to Acolyte of Pain, where you can get value for it each time it gets dinged. Part of the problem is the whelps only have 1 toughness so synergy with stuff like Death's Bite and Whirlwind is more limited. I still think it has potential though.
i like it very much. i think its one of the best cards yet revealed of the new adventure.
for 1 mana it gives you a lot of value. i mean, who wants to use a silence for a 1 mana minion? and if it doesn't get silenced, you get at least 1 2/1 minion out of it, the enemy will have to spend 2 damage on this (and probably more than 1 mana) and you have good chances to have a minion on the board in turn 2. and if you actually get 2 oder more whelps from this, you can be quite sure the 1 mana was well spent. i'm very much looking forward to experiment with this card.
but why didn't blizzard reveal the whelp token yet? i'd like to see the art of that card :/
The Knige Juggler hate is real.

I'm not sure why people are referencing Nerubian Egg as an argument against Dragon Egg?

Does it proc even if it's killed by the damage?
ofcourse
Time is money, friend.

A young priestess or murloc raider is a better choice than this..
in all likelyhood you will only spawn one 2/1 welp, so use your deck slot on a 2/1 you will get right away.
Hmm... Not sure how good this card will be in constructed, but I want to see the interactions between this card and Hungry Dragon :D
Put your faith in the light!

OTK COMBO! Warsong Commander + Dragon Egg + Inner Rage + Rampage + Inner Rage + Cruel Taskmaster + Coin + Cruel Taskmaster = 21 POINTS OF BURST!!!1 TO DA FAAACCEEE!!
Just kidding, this card sucks.
Same thing im thinking. Likely that we will see more cards with similar synergys down the road.

Oh wait, I totally didn't realize it would work with Sword of Justice. That makes the summoning whelps a little better since they'd be 3/2s...
