This will likely see play in Warrior decks. So no I don't think it's bad or gimmicky. Especially seeing as Cruel, Inner Rage, Death's Bite, Unstable Ghoul, Whirlwind, Wild Pyro + CS, Battle Rage all combo with it very, very well. It'll be technical, but looks very appealing at the moment.
Having this card on the board should keep minions like Dread Infernal, Abomination, and Unstable Ghoul from getting played, as well as warding off procs from Knife Juggler, Wild Pyromancer, and Shadowboxer. Additionally, AoE spells like Holy Nova and Consecration are going to have a tough time pulling one of these guys off the board expeditiously (not so much with Blizzard and Cone of Cold, since the freeze gives the player another turn to deal with it anyway). If this card gets a lot of play, we might see less early-game Darkbombs and Frostbolts played to ensure that he can be cleanly wiped off the board. Fire Elemental seems like the ultimate squeaky-clean counter to this minion being played. Let's not forget that we might see this minion getting proc'd intentionally by the opponent to greenlight Mind Control Tech's proc criteria.
What happens if Bouncing Blade kills this, summon 2 more for the first 2 damage before it dies?
Very interesting observation. Playing Patron on an empty board into Bouncing Blade could realistically fill your entire board with 3-Attack minions. I sort of hope this isn't the case; I'd rather the procs rack up while the blade bounces, and only fire once the blade has subsided.

What also needs to be remembered is that the new Grim Patrons will still have the same effect of Grim Patron. Meaning he could be VERY difficult to remove if he starts spawning like mad.

But am i the only one who is not the slighliest impressed about this card: it's a fricking 5 mana 3/3 that is not meaned to be played at 5 mana. If you are forced to play it at 5 it gets easily removed. It is a very very slow cards that MAYBE have some combo-value.
Fun card to mess around with but I doubt we'll see him in the meta anytime soon. Warrior seems like the obvious candidate to abuse this. Potential combo wombo'ness. However I see that combo being about as reliable as the Worgen OTK combo.
I think this card will be too slow to see play. If you play it on turn 5, it does not have immediate value. Plus the 3 attack is pretty weak for a 5 drop so you won't be able to contest 4-5 health minions (Mech cards) or Belcher, Loatheb, etc.
I don't think this will see any play. Even if you do fill up your entire board with something like bouncing blade, it'll take your entire turn and you'll just have a bunch of weak, damaged minions that die to any AoE.
I think Acolyte of Pain is a very useful reference point for this card. Weak for the mana cost, with a relatively squishy 3-health body, but lots of upside if you can get it to take damage a couple times without dying.
In theory, you either buff its health so it can take extra hits, or you proactively damage it yourself. In practice, the first tactic just doesn't work: if you play Acolyte of Pain with Velen's Chosen/Hobgoblin/Mark of the Wild/Kings/whatever, it just draws removal. The only classes that ever play it in constructed, and the classes that use it best in arena, are mage and warrior. And I think it's pretty obvious that Grim Patron won't work with mage (although somebody will make a hilarious gimmick deck with Pyros and Echo of Medivh).
I think it might work in warrior. You've got your crazy Grim Patron + Warsong Commander + Commanding Shout board clear to dream about, but it actually just fits pretty smoothly into a deck that's already running Unstable Ghoul, Armorsmith, Acolyte, Whirlwind, Death's Bite, etc. Unlike mage, warrior can actually activate Grim Patron on turn 5 consistently. Maybe it goes in a slightly more aggressive take on your bog-standard control warrior, perhaps with a Bouncing Blade thrown in for funsies. Won't be super-competitive though.
I think mage, warrior, and maybe priest will have a fun time with this guy, he'll be a good edge against classes that spawn weenies like paladin and you have to take him out with one hit which means against some classes could be a problem.
I know that I'm going to give it a shot, but unless Warsong Commander gets fixed, I don't think it will have a permanent home anywhere (it's just a little too slow for a rush deck, and a little to squishy vs control).
I do wonder how it will interact with Emperor Cobra and Maexxna (does the fact that it survived the damage register before or after the kill effect for taking damage)?
I don't think this will be that good in constructed since it is just a 3/3 for 5. Unlike Bomb Lobber or antique heabot, it doesn't have an immediate impact on the board and falls into the Gahz'rilla problem; too slow/has to stay on board AND have some kind of combo element to it.
It's just bad and won't be played except in fun decks.
I hate people with your way of thinking, dealing in absolutes, solidifying your negative view on things in stone.I will remember you and when the adventure comes live i will make a deck centered around it and if not Legend i will make it to rank 3 at least ,using only that deck. Then i will show you the results proving that that way of thinking is not beneficial to anyone.
It has almost no place in the current control warrior deck, HOWEVER
It might be enough to enable a different type of viable "damage boost" warrior, which hasn't seen much success historically.

OOOOH. MC Tech is gonna be auto-include vs. this plus the Hungry dragon.
As a mage, I can ping his guy, and easily get to the 4 pre-req for MC. Hungry Dragon/MC tech combo as well.
MC tech for MoltenCore. I like it.
Hellfire value

very good card. I see play for an aggro warrior now
Recombobulator might be great for this card.

Warsong Commander Cruel Taskmaster Death's Bite Whirlwind frothing Berseker and so many other Warrior cards like that 0 mana card that deals 1 damage and gives +2 attack = new type of warrior game plan, finally, if they can fix Warsong Commander!
This will be crazy!!!

Warsong Commander needs to be fixed first :(
Ben Brode tweeted that it will actually trigger during bouncing blade, so if it gets hit by bouncing blade once it will summon another copy.

Favorite class: keeping all 9 of them equal in level.
