Well, i was just playing my priest against a warrior now and he got a mistress of pain from his shredder.. then I stole it and some turns later put an auchenai soulpriest on the table. then i've attacked his face with the mistress of pain and started losing health 1 by one (was with 14) til -2...
Similarly, if you ever get Tree of Life from a druid through Thoughtsteal or whatever, and play it while the Soulpriest is out, you will both die. Something else they confirmed a while back haha. There's some wild combos.

Isn't that confirmed to be wrong? At least if you are above 15 HP. Because let's say you are at 16, you "heal" for 14, so you would be at 2 HP.
I've never actually seen it happen haha. I just remember Ben tweeting "Auchenai Soulpriest + Tree of Life = Everyone dies!" haha. I agree with your reasoning, about healing for 14 if you're at 16. It would be nice to know if someone has actually seen this happen and can confirm one way or the other.

Tree of Life will try to heal you for your maximum health. By default that is 30. If you play Jaraxxus or Alex, then it will be 15. Therefore Tree of Life plus the Soulpriest will do 30 damage or 15 if your health has been altered. The only way to survive the hit is to have armor, which will take some points of damage for you.
Tree of life heals to full health. The full health of heroes is 30. So tree of life tries to heal the heroes by 30. That means if you have 30 health and any amount of armor when you cast it with soulpriest on your side of the board, you live. (and most likely win.)
As I slowly update the class sticky with all the new content, I added a warning under the Auchenai Soulpriest mechanics section. Hope people will see it there and not automatically assume it's a bug or we are bound to have one such thread every so often.
Happened to me, someone pls explain why it happens? Why isn't it a bug? wtf?
It's not a bug, I'll(try to) explain:
If you read Mistress of Pain's card text, it says, "Whenever this minion deals damage, restore that much Health to your hero."
Now read Auchenai Soulpriest's card text, "Your cards and powers that restore Health now deal damage instead."
When both of them are on the board, after you deal damage with Mistress of Pain, the effect then leads it to heal your hero, but then the Auchenai effect kicks, thus, you damage yourself. Now because the Mistress of Pain dealt damage to your own hero basically, it triggers the 'restore health' effect once again, and that effect gets overwritten by Auchenai's effect. It's an endless loop until your own hero dies.
Auchenai converts healing to damage, once converted to damage the game treats it as such (+1 spell damage will affect spell damage done by Auchenai, so say you have a malygos dragon on the field and steal a druid heal for 8, with Auchenai you can do 13 damage to face). The damage is still treated as coming from the spell/minion that tried to heal.
So Mistress of pain deals 1 damage, goes to heal your hero for 1, Auchenai flips the "heal" to "damage" causing Mistress of Pain to deal 1 dmg to your hero, which then activates her power again, Auchenai flips it again, and so on till you're dead.

Alex does not change the maximum amount of health you can still heal back over 15hp so your max. hp is still 30. And well it's pretty much impossible to play Lord Jaraxxus and accquire a Tree of Life in the same game...
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED;
Be warlock OR mage+ unstable portal, then lorewalker cho to get the Tree of Life, YOU FACE JARRAXUS!

strange oO
Not a bug, confirmed by Ben Brode during the release haha. It's a kinda funny interaction with that card, but you can't even fault the wording really.
