BGH, which I have at least one of in every deck (as do most tournament decks). Execute (if you can ping him first), Assassinate, SWD, Another body with 7 attack, Shield Slam (if you've got enough armor), etc etc. I've yet to have Boom played on me when I didn't down him before he attacked. He's strong because he creates board presence, but not because he's an actual threat. Like most legendaries, he's a Win More card IMO. There will always be "you must deal with this" type of cards and currently the FotM is Boom. Before that it was Rag or Alex, or name any other legendary that at one time or another rod shotgun in all kinds of competitive decks. Gotta spend that mana on something.
Except atm, Boom fills the 7 mana slot, a slot where basically nothing is played, meaning he goes everywhere.
Know who else filled a basically empty slot and was in every deck? Sylvanas at 5 mana.
Considering Loatheb, that's a non-argument at this point.

Loatheb has competition at least. Sludge Belcher and Azure Drake to name a few. Class cards make the slot of 5 mana even more cramped.
Maybe not top 5, but for sure he's amongst the best ones.
Since the arrival of the Piloted Sky Golem relegated a bit Cairne into an ankward spot.
For me, the top 5 look like
1 - Sylvannas Windrunner (a must to have in a any deck that is not aggro)
2 - Dr. Boom (The lack of 7-mana drop at the moment, except for druid with the two ancient and Malorne)
3 - Ragnaros (It's either you deal with him or he'll be a pain in the ass)
4 - Loatheb (A must to have in any decks, unless you have too many 5-drop, which is not likely to happen)
5 - Between Harrison Jones and The Black Knight (Both situational card, sitting at 6-mana drop. However, when the situations comes out, those cards just make their value by twice their amount of mana).

Legend 17 times.
Still flirting with the ladder from times to times with Renolock.
I think that's more an issue of the card pool being too limited and not Dr.Boom being too powerful, Loatheb is still one of the most retarded cards in the game by far.
Doctor Boom is really interesting from a balance perspective. Technically he's a 7 mana 9/9, Deathrattle: Deal 2-8 damage split between two random enemies. That sounds like an 8 or 9 mana card. And yet he seems balanced (though still very good) at 7 mana. I think he's a good demonstration of how the traditional balancing rules don't necessarily work at the higher mana costs, because they need an extra boost to not be too slow.

I agree, it's too much value for the mana cost, and it's auto-included in every deck. He outshines many other GvG legendaries that sadly will never see competitive play.
I actually dont think he will be nerfed because he lacks immediate impact, he is expensive and he is not the centre of broken combos.
GvG and Nax are a lot about fast tempo decks, which plenty of times can just ignore the doctor and aim for the kill on turn 7.
That he is the staple legendary on turn 7 does not break him: Sylvanas, Cairne, Rag and Ysera have already held that on the 5 (prenerf sylv) 6, 8 and 9 turns and it is perfectly fine.
I am looking forward to the staple 10-mana legendary which will hopefully be released in the future! Maybe a super-hogger or smth??
Its a neutral, weaker version of Cenarius, which means 1-card-board-presence. Its good? Yes. Too good? Probably. Good enough to get nerfed anytime soon? No way. Sylvanas is a better neutral legendary and yet wont see nerf.
eh, I think dr boom is one of the best value cards right now and is a must have in any control deck loathab and sylvanis also fit this niche of almost guarnteed value. Harrison jones is also going to start ranking up there too.
really...$%^$^this card. After playing it in priestm a turn 6 in druid followed up with innervate combo at turn 7. This card is too good. It is better than sylvanas, because you can just play at the soon as you can. Sylvanas is kind of situantional. Boom by himself wins so many games.
well... i never lost a game because of enemy's dr boom neither i won a game thanks to it.
instead, i won TONS of game thanks to neptulon, like:
I have seen the poor Zetalot get his rank 1 legend dream crashed by boombots RNG; 3.31% to kill his full health Blademaster.
Aggro declining? What are you smoking, I wants some.
I have no intention to argue with you here. Please be noted that I posted that not long after the release. The metagame is always changing. During the first week of release, I didn't play against as much zoo, hunter players as I before. Now the implosion version of zoo is really popular on my server right now. Dr.Boom is seen much less play compared to two weeks ago from my experience.
The problem is not boom being too good, is the other cards around the same cost sucking hardcore late game.
this game inst magic, if you notice magic minions late game are much stronger and with better abilities and you even choose what to block(meaning defender has the upper hand) in magic, and even then the early game minions are favored and more played because theyre faster thus generate better tempo, just imagine in Hearthstone where the attacker has the upper hand and the late game minions suck balls. its a shitty job that they have done scaling late game cards. Dr Boom isnt even as good as MTG cards while all early game cards from HS are as good as MTG early game cards.
Hearthstone needs Grave titan AND wrath of god, THAT is a way of having good late game cards.
That first card outclasses boom for sure huhu ;-; , i completly agree that boom isn't that op , it is just a nich 7 mana card that Blizzard added to the game :)

Tirion is never useless.
I bring life and BOOOOAHH
Harrison, TBK and Ragnaros are overrated, they are all situational and not autuincluded in every control deck
Dr Boom on the other hand seems to be in every control deck with a few exceptions
I bring life and BOOOOAHH

My comments refer mostly to the wild format.

Sylvanas already was nerfed.
It's not ogre till it's ogre.
But its still the best craftable neutral legendary in the game(in fact, followed closely by Dr Boom). And im sure Sylv wont get nerfed again, ever.
