I'm thinking this is a wording issue, but I want to hear what others think.
Problem - Lightshow is not triggering spell cast upcounts when the spell is generated from other sources (for instance, the Battlecry of a Nagaling created by School Teacher )
Likely solution - The wording of Lightshow rather uniquely says, "Shoot one more for each Lightshow YOU'VE cast this game.", implying that the spell must actually originate in its native form in your hand to trigger the upcount.
Ergo - Discover effects will still work, as they add copies of or the actual spell to your hand for you to cast... but Nagaling, Rommath, and a veritable mountain of Wild effects won't.
I remember way back when Yogg Saron was initially introduced and it had similar queries since itself cast the spells - not the player. Light Show probably has a check for the player themselves casting the spell, not how many times the card itself has been played from one side of the board

It's not the same situation. By that logic, why do I, the player, get overloaded for Overload spells cast by my Yogg? Or better yet, why do I get overloaded for spells cast BY MY Nagaling?
And if you don't like that example, here's a fun fact: A Lightshow that is cast by Archmage Vargoth DOES increase the increment on the card by one. Why is that? The card specifically says 'YOU'VE cast this game'. Could it be that 'basic mechanics' doesn't really mean anything? Because Vargoth either makes you (the player) cast it twice and doesn't cast it himself, in which case Vexallus should also work like the previous poster said, OR he casts it himself in which case the increment shouldn't go up. Either way you put it, something is wonky.

If you didnt played Lightshow but play Stargazing on turn 5 followed by the lightshow you draw, it should deal 10 not 8 dmg wtf is shizzard cooking again

It works exactly as intended and this isn't a new thing with the "you've cast" text, but I wouldn't mind seeing it changed to count all instances of lightshow, given that the entire idea behind the card is to cast as many as possible. The situation doesn't happen in every game, but things like nagaling, Vexallus (a card released in the very same set), Stargazing double cast, Void Scripture don't count. And of course the big important card that goes into any lightshow deck: Grand Magister Rommath.
It's tricky though, if you change it to "shoot one more for each lightshow cast this game" this would imply that enemy lightshows would increase your own count.

The Vargoth interaction may be because he casts a copy of something you already cast that turn. So the coding might just repeat the spell as it was when cast, which may include a value indicating it was cast by the player and not another source. If that’s the case, the counter for a spell like Lightshow would tick up one because of that particular value being included.
Nothing wrong with the cards text to mechanic (I'd say at least, like most people here it seems), But would I wish that the card was self upgrading like jade golems and the new paladin ones (as OP suggested). The card just isn't cutting it with the way it works...

Vexallus doenst work with Archmage Vargoth, if he casts a Arcane Spell. It doenst cast twice.
