How does it work when splitting between minions?

Imagine you have a 5/5 on board and alibi up, opponent plays a 10 damage denathrius. Would the face be able to soak 8 damage and leave you with a 5/3, despite only taking one damage?

 possibly, it doesnt calculate alibi and limit dmg to face to 1. Alibi is an incredibly bullshit spell with no counter(not as bad as time out). Effectively worst than ice block. this garbage dev team often recycles hall of fame/banned cards in some fashion
