Alright, I'm saying this partly because I opened him golden, but instead of selling him right away I want to see this card actually be good. Golden Huntsman Altimor probably has one of the best animated artworks I've seen in this game because his infused versions look sick. However, this card is really fucking boring. It's a Call of the Wild locked behind a MASSIVE Infuse (8) (whereas you could just drop Call whenever it's drawn) and the Gargon companions don't even have improved stats to make up for the work. Dropping (1) infuse on each stage, making it a total of Infuse (6) from (8) would help make him a bit more playable. Or they could simply add +1/+1 to each Gargon compared to their regular Beast counterparts.
As it stands, this card seems pretty weak due to the astronomical Infuse number (an issue I see in Artificer Xy'mox as well alongside cost) even if he's ran with the Wildseed package. The issue with such a high Infuse makes the card a lot less reliable and more garbage the later you draw him. I know mediocre/bad legendaries are bound to appear in every expansion, but I hope I see Altimor be great instead of dusting him for 1600.
I would say that Huntsman Altimor isn t that bad. I opened him in my terrible pack opening (62 packs 2 legendaries, 7 epics, and a few golden rares) and i got a chance to actually try him out and play him in different fireside gathering decks. Hunter is one of my favourite classes and i have almoast 1000 ranked wins with it. My favourite deck back in the day was reno hunter. I found Huntsman Altimor quite similar to Dinotamer Brann even if you only manage to infuse him 4 times. If you get this card in your opening hand you can easily infuse it 8 times by just playing normally. Than you can drop this card on turn 7 and turn the game around. The biggest problem/downside is drawing this card late in the game or topdecking it. Buffs like +1/+1 on companions don t really help with topdeck problem. It would just make this card broken if drawn in early game. Best buff for this card would be that you get to pick which companion to summon if it isn t infused. That would make Huntsman Altimor more flexible in different situations (if you need a taunt minion or 4 damage).
Keep this card if you have a decent hunter collection and if you don t need dust. New midrange hunter with wildseed package looks pretty amazing and i don t mind playing Huntsman in it.
Hunter does not need new archetype and this card will not see any competetive play before next rotation unless serious nerfs will be made to Quest Hunter.

Whether it needs one or not is irrelevant. Hunter got a new archetype and it's going to see play, if for no other reason than people will want to see something different than Quest Hunter.
Maybe just wait until you can actually play the card heh?
This is one of those cards you don't need to play to know it's going to be terrible.
I hope you enjoy eating crow. Huntsman Altimor and the Wildseeds have potential for a great archetype.
No, he is correct, Altimor is garbage. There is no potential whatsoever. Wildseeds are not related at all, it's a different archetype, and the dormant mechanic actually has very clear anti-synergy with the infuse mechanic.

You're new to card games aren't you ? This isn't how things work. If it's not better than current archetypes it won't see meta play, that's a rule.
You only need to infuse once to make it comparable to Call of the Wild, for one less mana. For a minion-focused midrange deck that's very good.
Until you don't get huffer and that's 7 mana do nothing, how is this comparable in any way to Call of the wild ? If it wasn't for the guaranteed 5 damage it would have never seen play back in the day, so imagine now.

This guy is probably one of the better infuse cards. I am really not convinced by that concept.
Every card that does nothing if you topdeck it is most likely shit... Huntsman is not one of these.
