After the nerf, it doesn't look so appealing anymore. Are you still playing it in your Druid decks? I'm experimenting a bit without in my Vanndar Druid and include wrath instead for some early removal (very much needed)
I mean the card still has the same effect so it's not dead by any means but it obviously will affect it in some scenarios. Like at any point in the game (even with Guff) you'll end up with 1 mana instead of 2 and thus you'll be unable to cast the scales (let's say you don't have a coin or innervate either) and you could end up dying cause you couldn't protect your face enough. So yeah there are obviously scenarios where you straight up lose because it's 1 mana more expensive but in general it's still very usable and it'll see play in all if not most slow druid decks in standard (at least for now) and in stuff like linecracker druid in wild.
It didn't make any difference for linecracker druid and it's the only deck where earthen scale is relevant.
Honestly one of the weirdest nerfs ever. Was it really oppressive in standard ? How so ? It's just a bit of armor gain, nothing like linecracker shenanigans.
And why is it good now in the core set ? Cause I remember it was a pretty terrible card when it was first released in its own expansion
Since the card becomes stronger with every expansion, it was inevitable that they would increase the cost. I think it's still a powerful card, especially with 40 health starting games, which gives you more wiggle room. What this essentially does is nerf the infinite ivus armor gain, which is fair.

It was never a terrible card. People sleeped on it during reveals but it very quickly found its home in Jade builds, and Jade Druid was not a weak deck either. Earthen Scales is only as strong as the big minions you can dish out, so it can either be terrible or OP, Jade Golems were big enough to make it relevant, now with Ivus, Naga Giant and Miracle Growth it is very relevant once again (mostly Ivus, but it's also the interaction that got hit harder by the increased mana cost).

It is not a dead card for sure, but maybe not a auto include card in all druid decks anymore..
Mana nerf doesn't matter to a druid cause of guff. Still usable for sure, especially with Linecracker.
I mean... druids already have 20 mana in this game so...

The big difference is that you can't as easily use it with Ivus anymore, but other than that, the change really doesn't matter. It's still great.

ivus innervate innervate earthen earthen gave you like 65 armor. in standard thats insane.
