Why? Because Kurtrus is strong as f..k and you can run him on a cheap and viable deck (I'm talking about Deathrattle Demon Hunter) without having to include any other legendary (although Death Speaker Blackthorn is always welcome).
I wouldnt craft anything NOW. As my signature says, dust doesnt eat a hole in the jar. This close to an expansion release and the core set changing crafting is a bad move. The meta will be vastly different in a few weeks. Save your dust and wait, especially if you only have 1600 dust to spend. With that little dust crafting the right card for the new meta will be the vastly better option.
Typically with any question about HS i could come up with a very quick answer but not this time i have to think a bit lol.
I think if i was doing it the other poster is spot on you need to see the new cards.I can remember that i wanted the PLD legendary most of the HERO cards are really strong. You have to know what deck you plan on playing there is no sense crafting a legendary that doesn't fit in to a deck you want to play. You also have to consider your budget and cards you already have or don't have.
Ok so one idea is Yogg Saron and why?Well there is one possibility that can turn a loss in to a win it is an auto win or auto lose card. One roll is Rod of Roasting casts Pyroblast until someone wins/loses.
Really it comes down to the deck you'll be playing so wait for the new cards to arrive give it a week then decide.

what would it be and why?
or alternatively, on what would you spend 1600 dust atm
(i have seen the craft guide above but it hasn't been updated in some time)
thank you
edit: i meant not kazakusan, kazakus allowed^^

For me, it would be dreadlich Tamsen, mostly because the single card powerlevel is really high, and I like the playstyle of handlock.
As an advise, I would suggest finding a deck that looks like its fun to play, and then just go for that deck (maybe with some budget swaps if needed).
Edit: would also suggest waiting with crafting until after new set and rotation.
Kurtrus, Demon-Render, my favorite hero card so far.

good point about waiting for rotation before doing anything maybe ^^

In standard, probably Mutanus.

If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
awesome post from your sign, thanks

Whizbang the Wonderful
I regret dusting a golden one. Might craft him again, one of the most fun cards out there.
Tess Greymane is another runner-up
Your Welcome. I created it long ago, but it still has good advice. I updated it today to make it apply better to the current game state.
