played winrate for late game control cards doesnt say anything. to showcase this: mechathun might have a played winrate of near 100% in mecha thun decks, even when the deck itself loses 99% of the games... And turn 8 is slow, this already is lategame. A grindy long game meta is unhelthy, unfun for many, and wont occur again because tempo > value, and tempo cards get better with everyy expansion. It makes the game like it should be: fast paced, pllaying for tempo, putting things on the board instead of sitting there doing nothing but healing face and removing stuff. And, of course ticklock does this, but its an abysmal deck and not even the control killer people think it is: according to the vs report, control warrior running rattlegore, talean to tutor it and faceless to copy it (and not running cthun, a card which by the way is just bad in every deck because it dilutes it with bad cards) is favoured against control lock (the deck is bad in general, but this shows that tick lock is no control killer). Tick lock is at best tier 3, but many low rank peolple like playing it (and they will stay there, because again, the deck is bad), and many more low rank people complain about it because the refuse to counter it. I personally think it will get nerfed, but only because people are whining so much. And guess what: when tick disapears /which it will if it burns less cards/both players decks), your greed value decks will still be bad and lose to the other meta decks. Only exception is, thaat there will be more control priest at low ranks (it is popular at high ranks, bcause noone play a tier 3 tick deck), and the whining will start again...
Where does it say Hearthstone should be a tempo based game - I didn't see that press release? How can turn 8 be considered "the late game"? Sure it's late for some aggro decks who aim to kill you by turn 4/5, but it's not late by most decks and you've barely seen 1/3 of your deck (if you play Priest or Shaman). Who are you to decide what is fun to me or others? Why do you equate greed with control (which I think is what you're doing)? Those aren't the same things. Classic control warrior wasn't a greedy deck (if by greedy you mean high mana). It had two high mana cards (Alex and Gromash) and the rest were low to middle in mana.
You say Tickatus is countered by Rattlegore - that might be true, but Rattlegore is one card avaiable to one class, and can be teched against very successfully with silence. Aside from "play a faster deck" which tech options reliably work against Tickatus?
While you are correct that played win rate can be a misleading statistic (as can all statistics in a given context) and you gave the perfect example of when this is so, to imply that it has no value is also incorrect. Some cards do provide a genuine bump in win rate for a deck when played (I'm guessing incanters flow and Refreshing Spring water have exactly this effect in mage), and I'm pretty sure that Tickatus does provide a genuine win-rate increase against control decks. He also tends not to be played at all against aggro decks as he's too slow and does nothing immediately so his statistics are also likely to be skewed.
I'm usually not one of those dumb jerks who just copy paste a link to the salt thread and then leave, and well technically i won't be one either since I'm leaving a link to something other than the salt thread:
@Wada
Or just make Tickatus cost 12 mana, effect would be the same...
The Tickatus change that we needed:
Tickatus: 12M|8/8 "Costs (1) less for each card you have discarded this game."
Easy, everyone would be happy.

Sure, especially Discard Lock, who doesn't exist in standard...
As mentioned in the post above, there is a thread for discussion on Tickatus.
There's no reason or need to create more.
Locked.
