[edit] I was reading some other comments, and had to add this: To those who view Tickatus as an unproblematic card in current Standard, have you tried playing other control decks against it? I mean really? Seeing all of your win conditions being burned away, not only once, but twice? I have, for example, created a home-brew control Shaman deck with Yshaarji returning four corrupted cards to deal 16 damage from hand that actually has a positive win rate against Paladin and Mage. This means I have been able to climb with it this season almost as nicely as I normally do (for me, the most fun in the this game is in creating my own decks). But against Warlock... I have like 10% win rate, and the only reason for this is Tickatus. A single card. If that is not bad design in a card game aiming for diversity of strategies and a resemblance of balance across its many classes, I don't know what is.
This. Let's say you're at D5 and want to climb to Legend? What do you decide to play? Hmm. Seems the one deck everyone has to beat is Control Warlock. So what do I play? How do I counter this deck? Aggro? No, I want to counter a specific card. Make them pay for playing this 1 card in their deck.
No hard counter. Unless you want to play the same card. Then it becomes 50/50.
Wow. So there is no hard counter to a specific card ability that only this card has.
By the way they now have an un-nerfed Jaraxxus to go with it. So you will also have to deal with 2 mana 6/6 with no cards left.
Tickatus is crazy powerful. Strong body and cheap with the worst effect ever. I've just had a rant in the rant topic. I don't mind Tickatus quite so much as I mind the fact that 8/10 of my games have been against the same Warlock, doing same old 2x Tickatus. I think they don't even need Ysharj for that, somehow got hit with a double-T and not saw Ysharj. Crazy.
Blizz, would you mind matching me against something else for a change?
Played it on and off from inception (and reached legend regularly) and in my humble opinion there is ZERO skill involved anymore. Either you get flamed by RNG (Deck of Lunacy) or flamed by cards like Tickatus. Where is the skill Blizzard!?
I think Tickatus is not op, but is an unfun card. It's one of the better disruption cards in the game to provide counterplay to uninteractive OTK decks.
I personally would like the game to just not have otk decks and not have disruption (this was once the philosophy of blizz too when they hall of famed Power Overwhelming because taking 20 damage to the face from Leroy Jenkins power overwhelming+faceless was 'unfun and uninteractive')
But since OTK decks are likely not going to get removed, we need disruption cards like Tickatus
Tickatus is NOT a tech against OTK decks. Any OTK deck with decent cycle is going to shit all over control lock and Tickatus because the deck is almost entirely reactive. It’s entire game plan is to simply remove everything. No, Tickatus is Best used in a control matchup where Warlock can lose the fatigue game because of their hero power. It thins your opponent’s deck out. Problem is you can play it multiple times, and use it in conjuncture with Jaraxxus to just curb stomp every single slow deck out there.
Tickatus is an abomination which sucks the fun out of any game he's used in. Sure, he might do nothing against aggro/face decks on his own, but against any control or mid range deck it's game over.
It's not just Tickatus though - warlocks have so much cheap removal and healing that I suspect all but the most aggro of aggro decks will struggle to keep board presence, and once the game goes past a certain point there's very little chance of winning. Warlocks have far better draw and their removals are nearly always card efficient. It's such a greedy removal heavy deck that it should be absolutely punished by OTK/Combo dekcs, but you know what card destroys that type of deck - Tickatus. Even though warlocks lost Plague of Flames and Dark Skies, the new additions make the deck feel even more oppresive, particularly with the new Jaraxus.
I actually don't mind when a non-meme deck is a bit better than the rest. At least you can analyze the deck and put in some tech options (which may or may not work). I'm really not sure how you tech against TIckatus.
I would love to see what the meta looked like if we didn't have Tickatus. Maybe it would be just the same and Jaraxus would be the one shitting all over the control decks, but maybe some C'thun or OTK decks (which I generally don't particularly like either for many of the same reasons as Tickatus) would begin to get a foothold and stuff would change.
It's really bizarre Blizzard released Tickatus in the same set as C'thun the shattered (or maybe they considered him a tech option in case C'Thun decks were rampant)
I'm really not sure how you tech against TIckatus.
Maybe just play viable deck with an ACTUAL win condition? I don't know if you noticed, but currently Control Warlock is THE ONLY control deck in standard that has one (and despite that, he's dumpster tier above bronze). That, not the Tickatus, is the real issue of control decks.
Bronze whiners want to play slow and greedy decks with no win condition (other than "exhaust all your opponent's resources over 167 turns") and expect them to work... but why would they? It's not a valid strategy in HS anymore and they should adapt to it.

Cthun is a perfect win condition for control decks, but they can’t run him because of control lock. Your advice is pretty lame. You’re telling people to just play a different deck, as if that “solution” isn’t indicative of the problem everyone is complaining about.
People need to understand that there are different types of players who enjoy the game in different ways. And catering to each of those is necessary. The overused but relevant Spike/Johnny/Timmy trio MTG famously use.
The players who respond with “just play a new deck” are likely Spikes. The players who cannot understand the enjoyment in playing Face Hunter are likely Timmy/Johnny..
Card is balanced. People just getting emotional because of the affect but we NEED anti combo deck cards like dirty rat or gnomeferatu etc.
Right now at current meta (pen flinger nerfs). I cant even play tickatus. I either survive and my brain-dead face pushing opponent run out of gas ,, or he wins game with ignoring Everything except my face.
I think aggro decks should be deleted out. Bcs No strategy or mental work in it. Just cheap and direct damage thats all.

So, it's fair when you run C'thun against me and I can't do anything about it, just wait until you draw your entire deck and nuke my face with 30 damage, but it's also unfair when I run card, that MIGHT (it's not guaranteed though) disrupt your plan and let me win otherwise unwinnable matchup?

anyone who plays aggro doesnt spend money on the game anyway
so they should just delete HS why do they even play !?
If I face a ranked aggro player at the end of the month at gold rank. what r u even doing? why r u playing aggro to climb? LOL NOOB
I'm so sick of Tickatus. I don't care if it's "good" card or not, I'm tired of not being able to play Old Gods and other cool combos because of this card exists
Playing Control Warrior, I've had moderate success but this is my pet deck and I love to play it when Warrior gets stronger. I can stomach losing to every matchup besides Tickatus decks. And I don't really mind too much about 1 Tickatus, but 2 of them is putting it over the top against practically any slow deck besides some aggro decks or Clown Druid. But I don't have the dust for Clown Druid, and I want to play a deck I want to play instead of trying to counter Tickatus. I'm not saying I don't like aggro, it's a necessary evil it's what keeps everything in balance so I respect their existence. HOWEVER auto losing to one deck all the while not being able to try out the new cards, But they just keep burning away My Rattlegore or just killing it with their insane amount of removal. I don't waste my deck slot on C'thun anymore cuz it's pointless most of the time. Funny thing my opponent today was a Tickaus Warlock with C'thun, the greedy bastard. They get to play C'thun but I don't? Jaraxxus is already salt in the wound, this guy's just rubbing it in. Fuck anyone who sais Tickatus isn't a problem, those are the people that probably never or rarely pick up a control deck and see how it feels.
Edt: Oh yeah currently at rank 9 Diamond and I actually like to play Face Hunter, though only at ranks below Diamond and Rank 5 where Tickatus players are more prevalent. Then I switch to Control, but I still face the odd Tickatus player (such as that C'thun Warlock) and Might as well be doing something else while I'm against them. I usually watch something on Youtube as I'm roping them every turn out of spite.
I'm really not sure how you tech against TIckatus.

I'm in diamond tier, playing a mid-range corrupt priest, and I'm still getting destroyed by Ticklock. Your "advice" isn't real, yo.

Agree with this. HS is now just a game of rock, paper and scissors. Brain dead

Tickatus isn’t an anti combo card. Anti combo cards interact with your opponent’s hand where they are more likely to have a piece.

cthun gets shuffled into your deck when he’s assembled and then you play tickatus, it works pretty often. Maybe you didn’t know that, maybe you’re the bronze logic. There’s counterplay to cthun, load up your board, which warlock is very easily able to do. The point is control lock is making it hard for any other class to play a slow game. It doesn’t matter if they have a win condition, their deck is 70% removal, and then they have Jaraxxus and tickatus on top of that. Don’t come here with the attitude of “just play another deck” and then talk about bronze logic.

Why would I even risk my opponent assembling and drawing his win condition?! Why target one specific card and not one of the four? Opponent might as well finish C'thun way before he draws his entire deck and Tickatus may not be able to hit him at all, sitting next to the other cards (it's random, remember?). He can also assemble C'thun into empty deck and then use some card draw immediately, before I even have a chance to play the Tick. In either case, I would be busted. This is pretty common knowledge above bronze.

How? Control Lock only uses a few minions (mostly low HP) and at this point in the game (turn 10+), he almost certainly played most of them, if not all.
It's 14/30 which translates into ~47%... Moreover, currently many decks have rejected Siphon Soul (it's too slow) and Cascading Disaster (in favor of the Kazakus, Golem Shaper), so now it's 10/30, which equals to ~34%.
