How could a 10-mana card be a problem in a meta where 90% of games end before turn 10 anyway? And Y'Shaarj requires a LOT of setup and deckbuilding restrictions.
There is no such thing as a broken card after turn 10. Midrange and Aggro decks are supposed to have lost by then. Control decks might still survive because they’re fully capable of clearing a Y’shaarj board. And because control is so capable, a well-planned Y’shaarj swing is perfect to challenge them.
I'm a bit on the fence with this. I'm not sure it's a problem as such or if it just feels really bad which makes if feel like a problem. I do think having them cost 0 is a bit much, this is almost always problematic in HS but saying that, it is only for one turn. You either reduce them to 1 cost permanently (which may actually be seen a buff seeing as you can then spread the use of them across other turns) or it gets really clunky in the wording etc.
Im leaning towards it being more of a 'feels bad' than an actual problematic interaction. It isn't warping the meta or anything, it's just very frustrating to play a full game, maybe both players have played well and amde good decisions but then this comes down and just completely slaps you but you can counter it with a lot of things such as heavy draw, being very aggressive etc.
I see Tickatus in a similar light, it punishes you for being slower and just feels bad to have it used a couple of times within the same game. On the flip side, it feels great if you slap down a Tickatus and spoil your opponents C'thun or other game plan so if I'm being fair, I think it might just be my 'feelings' that don't like this one.

I think it might not help that its such an aggressive meta that when you do get a game that's a bit slower and more methodical (which is where the fun is for some people) that it can be frustrating for the game to end that way. Fair I guess but frustrating.
I like slower decks, I'm playing a lot of spell mage with lunacy and aggro just blasts through it so it's fun to come up against something a bit slower so I can actually enjoy the main card of the deck. But yesterday I had 4 warlocks in 5 games (not the norm, no idea why there were so many) who can draw into their win condition at a fairly decent pace then burn 10 of my cards and put me in fatigue way earlier than a normal game, it's a bit 'unfun'.
But saying that, I accept I'm playing a sub optimal deck in a meta that unfortunately for me is also quick in general so I just have bad match ups at both ends of the scale.

guys / lads this game have Ultimate anti-rng that try to put you in a cage in the hell (don’t think it exist btw.)
After got “tickatus” from my arena daily life. Wanna try that card, also had too much faith on Y’shaarj that i crafted as golden 1st day of patch.
anyway, Played about 20 games and made a few difference on deck depends on meta. And relized that bli$$ put an insane rng on tickatus, if you can’t find it on starting hand, probably you will found him bottom 2-3rd card. Think about Played 20 games (also this games 2k-3k legend), Got tickatus 2 times. And Played y’shaarj + tickatus 1 time at all.
7-8-9-5 cards left (some of them fragments also) but never found tickatus. Not have it on starting hand also. If someone cry about tickatus, probably a priest player that game stand for 20mins. Warlock draw all cards, going fatigue and you lost vs. Tickatus.
this scen just a dream, no1 playing priest on ladder. No1 have that much time that put your all senses to a game, that will cost of your time and hatred.
open letter, try tickatus deck and see what i’m talking about. You won’t regret.
I am running Yshaarj in a Quest Shaman deck. It's not in my deck for the value he creates, but as a win condition vs other control decks. Having corrupted and played 2 Circus Medics and playing a Tour Guide the turn before, gives you a 32-damage combo.
It is perfectly fine for a control deck to have a reliable win condition vs other control decks (Warrior was ETC/Rattlegore, Warlock has Tickatus, only Priest doesn't have one actually), the majority of the matches I play are anyway decided either way a lot before I'd have the chance to combo with him
Its actually kinda sad that its also a high win deck. Some say fast pased decks? Oh yrah dont forget the removal that warlock has, 3 mana deal 2 damage to all minions. Or 3 damage to a single minion 2 mana cost?
+ warlock puts shards in his deck so he survives a lot of damage. So eventually he will get a twisted in his hands so he can play the corrupted 6 mana legendairy.
If i see a warlock, i know instant loss because they always have the 3 perfect cards in hand. 6 mana legendairy, 10 mana and twisted so you are fucked every time. It stomps all decks. Its not manny played because its pay to win for making legendairys or buy a lot of packs.
So to all card makers. You are shit, make it so they have to corrupt it again or atleast full cost not 0 mana. Best way to stop that broken deck.
I think it's similar in power to pre-nerf Alexstrasza. It requires a lot more setup and deck-building restriction but has a potentially much higher pay off. The thing is nerfing the generated cards to 1 would make it a really dead turn when you play Y'shaarj...
Overall, I like the card and trying to make it work in obscure decks. (Yshaarj Corrupt Mage and Yshaarj Midrange Beast Hunter are two of my favourite decks in standard).
Yeah, I actually play "corrupt" warlock without Yshaarj simply because some of the corrupt cards are rather good. It's only an issue against priest. The only deck I have with him now that is any good is quest control highlander shaman which uses him as a combo finisher.
I still feel like Y’Shaarj requires a lot to even pull off (you have to corrupt the cards then play them in the first place) and by the time you play him, midrange and aggro decks should’ve already won, and control decks should have the answers.
People continue to insist Tickatus is a problem, but it's sitting solidly in tier 4 according to both personal observation and Tempo Storm.
I understand it's sort of kind of a foil to Galakrond Priest and the slowest of Control Warrior, but not really. Rattlegore and its copies can go the distance if you don't manage to draw either your ETC combo or your OTK with Silas. Furthermore, I'm always in favor of one generally low-powered deck putting a halt on a meta full of fatigue matchups, so no complaints there.
Beyond that, the win rates tell the tale, and all versions of Control Warlock are being beaten by copious amounts of aggro and tempo (no, they aren't interchangeable terms, for the record).
Back to the OP, Y'shaarj is NOT used to its best potential in Warlock. It tends to have the most power in Clown Druid. Of course, this deck has some of the same issues, but at least it has an unbeatable high roll if the draws come in the right order. The same cannot be said for Lock against many matchups.

I believe that the main problem with Tickatus is exactly how annoying and uninteractive it is to lose to gala/control warlock playing control deck, and the worse part is actually that both of this warlock decks just don’t have any wincondition other than tickatus, so if you play any value oriented control deck you simply lose to tickatus without any chance of winning, yes, I know, there should be a counter for a greedy control decks, but I think cards like archbishop benedictus, are by far more, design wise, better than tickatus.
Back to the topic, Y’shaarj require both tempo loss and deck-building restriction, don’t forget that you also need cards in you deck that trigger the corrupt effect, it was probably said by somebody above, but I was a bit to lazy to read, sorry :p
Yeah setting up that tempo turn in warlock isn't that easy.
It is easy lol
It's easy in the sense that it doesn't take any thought to play a 7 mana card before a 6....but it's difficult in the sense that Blizzard and the devs' main agenda is to ensure cheap aggro decks remain the cream of the crop so you can do all the setup you want and pull off the double Tick combo but in most cases it doesn't matter because at that point in the game you are probably down to 10 health or less.

IMO no, no problem.

He is actually seeing a massive increase in winrate after the DH nerfs, but that actually says more about how bad he was before (45%range.)
As a very slow card and greedy card, I don't think he can ever be a problem.
