Had a random thought about using the darkness as a tech card against Raza priest (and highlander in general) in wild. I've seen a lot of lists running Bad Luck Albatross which has a similar effect but sometimes the deathrattle isn't quick enough to block out Raza early. Darkness has battlecry making it immediate but i understand its worse against aggro.
I thought about it as well, but I think it's a not a good idea.
I don't know what deck you want to include it in, but usually, the decks that struggle with Priest are those that need to win fast enough, but can't. First, you'd need to draw The Darkness early enough for it to even matter. Past turn 6 or 7, you would probably lose anyway. Played early, you essentially have to give up an entire turn doing nothing. The delay on Singleton-effects is gone before it wakes up, and Priest just laughs at a 20/20.
So, you include a card that is only good in the first few turns, has no effect outside of its battlecry, it might delay some of the best cards in your opponent's deck, but in return, you essentially give your opponent a free turn, which could very well compensate for that delay.
I think the cost is just too high and the effect not significant enough. It's more reliable than Bad Luck Albatross, but too expensive for what it does. Beneath the Grounds is not a great card either, but that's how these anti-highlander effects need to work: Low cost, instant disruption, and a benefit on your side, whenever your opponent draws one of the shuffled cards.
We can only hope to find something like that in Darkmoon.
Streamer Roffle plays it in his "Reno Shudderwock Shaman" deck, which contains lots of counter cards, along with the Reno/Shudderwock package. Fun to play, but probably not competitive (at least after Diamond 5)
Think about it, you might play on turn 4 and slow them a bit , but how often will it happen? And a lot of times you can play it and they can still manage to win.
Other then that the darkness it s a huge tempo loss against most of the meta.
Grizzled wizard + sir finley is a good counter to it as you could use it against other decks with strong hero power (odd paladin, odd demon hunter, odd warrior ecc.... )
Or you could tech dirty rat and try to pull their spawn of shadow.
Or you could join aggro's and try to rape them before they could even play reno .
I m just glad that ''hating'' this deck is a thing and im not crazy. A lot of anti raza threads again these days and im glad.
I'm sure even Raza Priest players know exactly how disgusting the deck is. Good thing there are alot of hate cards for the deck that are actually pretty decent for the meta
Speaking of hating Raza Priest: I am fooling around with a fun/meme 'Disturblock' deck that runs Brann Bronzebeard, 2xGnomeferatu, 2xDirty Rat, 2xChaos Gazer and 2xDeathlord..:)
Not very competitive, but guess which deck it often forces to concede on turn 5-6...;)

Thoughts?
Was it actually a random thought or did you see someone playing it?
What deck are you playing?

Haven't seen anyone running it as of yet
Control Warlock/Cubelock mostly but i could see other decks where it could go in the tech slot

Just play 2 x Nerub'ar Weblord
I've seen Renolock lists running it. Decent tech vs Raza Priest and great meme, so why not?
