Everyone is talking about which new cards will see the most play, but what about OLD cards that are seldom or never used currently but which might work with some of the new cards?
Off the top of my head:
- 1-attack minions like Silverback Patriach, Baron Rivendare etc might start seeing play in Hobgoblin decks
- Formerly useless cards like Dragonling Mechanic and Demolisher might now be somewhat more desirable since they add a mech body
I think as far as Demolisher goes, he's still out of luck considering that Harvest Golem and Spider Tank exist as 3 drop Mechs.
I can see it in warrior deck with Mechwarper, Hobgoblin, Junkbot and Screwjank Clunker. Get board control turn 1-2 > Hobgoblin turn 3 > Mechwarper + 3/6 Demolisher turn 4
So now you have to deal with 3 extremely dangerous minions if they survive. If you can't kill them all (and it's unlikely turn 4), you're in a bad spot. If Hobgoblin is removed, play Screwjank Clunker. If Mechwarper is removed, play Screwjank Clunker or Junkbot. If Demolisher or nothing is removed, play Junkbot. You win.
I really don't get the hype on Spider tank. It's a terrible card that has no use outside of a mech deck, but Tinkertown technician is a way better card in said deck. Also, if Demolisher survives at least one turn, it already has better value than Spider tank.
Rivendare will definitely see a lot of play with Hobgoblin in deathrattle decks. 3/3 explosive sheep, 3/9 rivendare, 3/4 haunted creeper, 3/3 thalnos (FINALLY it can get better than loot hoarder), 3/5 unstable goule, 3/4 undertaker.. Now do this in a paladin deck with Hobgoblin AND sword of justice. That's value.
Spider Tank is bad? It's a 3/4 for 3 mana. Yeti is considered an amazing neutral minion full of value because it's a 4/5 for 4, and basically Spider Tank is a vanilla Dark Cultist.
Also... you're saying Spider Tank is bad outside of a mech deck... when we're talking in this scenario about a mech deck...
I expect to see an increased use of Mass Dispel in Priest Decks.
Beyond that, I feel that Murloc (Shaman) has the chance to be a viable and competitive deck. Get used to hearing, "Mrglglglglgl!"
Sorry, won't happen for Mass Dispel, looks good on paper that it says to silence all minions, but you're spending way too much mana for that, so what if you silence every minion, you still gotta deal with them on board. The card cycle isn't worth it either.
lol. 4 mana isn't "way too much mana" for potentially 3-4 silences + draw a card. Sure you could do that with owl x2 + silence x2 for 4 mana as well, but Mass Dispel is ONE card. That's value. And it's never a dead card late game because you can still topteck a Vol'jin or something.
What does Vol'jin have to do with the argument?
The key word is 'potentially', what are the times that you need to silence 3-4 minions? Control matchups? If you let your opponent play 3-4 of Cairne/Sylvanas/other high value minions, you're already way behind and likely have lost the game, there's no reason to mass dispel anything. If you're up against aggro with Undertaker, Haunted Creeper, Harvest Golem, Mad Scientist, and you want to Mass Dispel turn 4? Ok fine by me, you didn't get rid of any minions, plus it took you the whole turn to do it. See my point? There's a reason why Mass Dispel doesn't see play competitively now and still won't after GvG because of how inefficient it is. Don't believe me? Make a thread about it in Priest forum and ask the players there.
Demonfire with a lot more targets that it can actually have use on. Also, with Miracle pushed out of the meta and i could see Master of Disguise take an important spot in future Rogue decks since there are a lot of interesting targets.
As someone who just disenchanted all Gadgetzan Auctioneers in my possesion i believe the reports of miracle rogue being dead are highly exaggerated.
The deck has been immune to every counter that has been introduced and every nerf that has been done so far. It will find a way into the meta in some form I just don't know how it'll look like.
Hard to say, but this isn't something you throw at T4 with nothing on your board. Anyway with the example above, when the opponent has 4/5 undertaker, haunted creeper, Harvest golem and mad scientist and you have nothing on board, yeah sure Mass dispel won't save you. But is there anything else that could save you anyway ? Best thing you could do Is auchenai + Circle of healing i guess. You give a secret to the opponent, he kills your Auchenai with a creeper token, and he still has board control with undertaker, golem token and the other creeper token. Mass dispel then Auchenai+Circle next turn, you lost some health but you got board control.
Yes the outcome you suggested gets rid of the board better than Auchenai+Circle, but it isn't very efficient nor practical at all. Spending 4 mana on an AoE that doesn't kill off minions, and relying on the next turn to wipe them could be potentially dangerous because you can never rely on using 2 turns just to pull that off. If you use AoE against aggro, you need to establish board position yourself the next turn, if not, you're just going to let Aggro get the initiative again. On top of that. not to mention all the scenarios where Mass Dispel becomes a dead card in your hand and ruins your tempo in every other game because of how situationally effective(or lack therof)it is. You say it is a must have in your deck, and while I'm not going to disrespect your preference, I ask you, what card in a legitimate control Priest deck would you omit for it?
Oh, the days when Blood Knight was a house. One time I won a game on turn two because my opponent went argent squire, argent squire, pass and I turn two coined into blood knight. He auto concede.
I find myself wondering if some of the old legendaries that don't impact the board right away will see a little play in combos with Annoy-o-tron. A lot of classes have removals that don't bypass taunt, so depending on the meta, it might be a viable combo for some decks.
Speaking of which, Divine Shield got a lot of surprise love in GvG, so Blood Knight, and in turn any of the old Divine Shield cards, might be seeing play.
I'd like to see Hunters and Warlocks playing more Beast and Demon decks. GvG offers some push in that direction, but we'll see if it's enough to hold up.
Recombobulator is a card for decks that run a lot of strong battlecries with weak bodies, like Hemet Nesingwary. It gives you a chance to reverse the bad body. It's not a good reason to run a bad card to begin with.

Captain Greenskin will probably come back, along with other pirates. Maybe dragonling mechanic, but I assume only the token is a mech?

Naturalize has a good synergy with Clockwork Giant. It could see play more often.

Time is money, friend.

Black Knight + Rusty Horn
greenskin
i prefer handlock over zoo.
Summoning Portal in a (yet unseen) midrange Warlock deck? MAYBE???

Oasis Snapjaw might become a staple of the new Control Hunter deck.
Wisp might be viable in a Hobgoblin deck.
War Golem might have a dangerous combo with Recombobulator
