Must feel like Lifecoach back in the days when he thought that the Un‘goro Hunter quest would 100% break the game after it came out. He even quit the game after the card was revealed.
Glide fucked me today when it was casted from my Amazing Reno hero power when playing Highlander Mage. I had lethal in my hand (Malygos’ Fireball + Zeph) before all the cards were shuffled into my deck and I got four useless ones and lost the following turn.
It was obviously bad from the get go. People just didn't like Demon Hunter and decided to take their anger out on that card.
It's more people thought DH was broken, so every DH card that looks potentially good must be the comming of the end. We saw it with Kreen, star student, and glide. All cards that see little to no play, but were all insisted to be broken. The first legend I pulled was Kreen, and while I thought he was going to be mediocre this expansion, I thought that it was probably better to have than not. I play singleton hunter, and I don't even fit him in that deck.
Glide is just a victim of the current state of the meta. It's clearly bad when most of your matchups are against decks that just dump the hand really fast. If the meta was Control or Combo oriented then it would be much stronger. Ace Hunter Kreen and Star Student Stelina were highly overrated as well. Kreen isn't weak but he is more oriented toward board control and current Demon Hunter and Hunter decks only care about going face as much as possible. I played with Stelina once (randomly got her during a tavern brawl) and she felt fine. Lorekeeper Polkelt is one of the most played cards of the expansion and she directly counters him but there is no reason to mess with the opponent's deck when you can just kill them instead.
I love how stupid these posts are. These posts literally take things at face value and don’t dive any deeper beyond that. You do realize that everyone agrees that glide is bad in an aggro meta? With aggro decks and bomb warrior running around, of course it’s bad.
If the game shifts, and it may very well, to a control meta, it’s going to be absolutely insane. Control decks that are constantly gripping 7-9 cards will get destroyed by it, the meta is just not at this point currently.
God these posts reveal so much about people’s understanding of the game.
Edit: Control AND combo metas. I’m sure people are aware of maly Druid. It’s not played that much now, but if it was... Oh, you just jepetto’d and drew your combo? Glide.
Keep in mind this card was being overrated at the time the meta was Highlander Mage, Quest Warlock, Enrage Warrior, Highlander Hunter, Gala Rogue, Spell Druid, Gala Priest in late July. People didnt expect there would be bigger bullies such as Survival Druid, Stealth Rogue, etc. which makes games progress super quick so there's no place for Glide

It's a very good card. Just because it's out of favor in the current meta doesn't make the card a bad card. If we combo/control takes over, you'll see a lot of Glide.

I came here to reply but this post summarises my thoughts completely.
Don’t discount this card until we see a slower meta.
The problem I had with Glide was never that it was necessarily OP - I was conflicted about its power level. Its problem is that it does the same thing Divine Favor got hate on for years on end - it punishes control decks for just existing, with no real counterplay at all (what, you're going to waste board clears so that they don't Glide them out of your hand?) - but it does it in a way that feels even worse by not just benefiting the aggro player, but by actively taking resources away from the control player when the whole point of the archetype is to have a lot of cards in hand to be able to answer everything. They took one of the worst-feeling cards in the history of Hearthstone and made it feel even worse. The design of Glide is pure garbage, whether it costs 1 mana and is amazing or it costs 10 mana and is the worst card in the game.
Also I want to throw my voice in to say that yes, the meta is currently completely wrong for Glide. I'm not convinced it'd be all that OP even in a control-heavy meta, but pointing out an anti-control card sees no play in a fast meta as though it's some sort of failure just betrays a lack of understanding of how card power levels work.
I'm going to get my account suspended if I reply what I want to this highly enlightened, well thought out post written by a clever lad, who's certainly beyond capable of critical thinking and foresight.
Cards are always at their strongest in the meta in which they're released, right? There's absolutely no way Glide could get better in a control/combo meta.
No, glide would not be good in a control meta. Four mana to conditionally draw four cards is actually very slow right now. With an otherwise empty hand demon hunter can pay two more mana to draw three cards and reduce their cost to zero or reduce their cost by three; they can also spend two mana and draw three while playing a 1/3 minion that must be killed. Rogue literally spends one mana to draw four cards.
If played on turn four, glide sacrifices an entire turn worth of tempo and could actually help a control player stabilize. If played on turn eight, there is a good chance the control player has already stabilized or lost. I guess glide could grant demon hunter mediocre turns 5, 6, or 7.
Glide is also a terrible card to get in a mirror matchup.
What is strange is out of the three times someone has played this against me, twice I had no answers and glide provided them, and I went on to win from a bad position.

Comparing things like what rogue can do or what the other card draw options are, while ignoring the other obvious point of glide is just poor card comparison. If glide was just “4 mana: Shuffle your hand into your deck and draw 4” it would obviously just be meh.
The point of glide is, for the next year and a half, Demon hunter has control/combo protection. And you’re somewhat right about the point about control, but there are A LOT of situations where you drawing 3-4 cards and your opponent losing 3-4 cards will win you the game. And it’s obvious benefits against combo couldn’t be more apparent.
I mean the card, in quite often situations against slower, heavier decks, is literally a 1 for 6-7. A ONE FOR 7 for four mana. When you consider that even a little bit, it’s uses and obvious strengths become glaring.
There is actually not a single card, in all of hearthstones history, that has that type of value potential for that mana cost.
Edit: But against aggro, or in any situation where glide is drawing cards for your opponent, it is obviously bad. Which is the entire point of the counter-meta argument being made here.
Now that we're a couple months in, how does it feel to be so wrong?

Not that I care nor ever made any predictions, but can you link to yours so we can appreciate how accurate you were?
Take a walk on the wild side...

Damn, I see Glide still oppresses the ladder. They should nerf this card already, before it completely destroys the game.
