Is he too powerful? Hard to say. The fact that he's been in nearly every Rogue deck for five years? Just get rid of him.
I'd love to see a lot more churn in the basic/classic sets. I suppose that's a different direction than the one Blizzard is going with the Classic Set, but I think it'd be a *better* direction for them to go with the sets.
It amazing how Blizzard can nerf good cards from Classic/Basic set of every other class (Warsong, Northshire, Hunter's mark, Equality, Flametongue, POW. many Druid cards etc) but they won't touch Edwin. So BS, just get rid of that shit already.
The card's power level - already strong - was enhanced dramatically by the introduction of lackeys and now zero-cost cards (Galakrond.)
It is not unusual to see an enormous Van Cleef on the board as early as turn 3 or 4. Later in the game, the stats you can get on him for virtually no effort are absurd.
Plus, he can have taunt now with a titanic lackey.
Rogue's classic set is so strong. It should be changed if we want this game to be different. Every bloody meta, the same Rogue cards are abused again and again.
Jesus wept. Salty are we? Because he's such a good card rogue finds it difficult to replace him in their decks? That's a good sign of a classic card being designed correctly as nobody was asking for him to be nerfed in the previous years (current Edwin)
What would you even replace him with. Some garbage assassinate minion other classes would play more from using zephyrs?
If anything, HoF - potentially yes. It's hard to say - it requires some specific cards to get him at 6/6 or more on turn 2 or 3 (Backstab with a target, Shadowstep with a target, going second etc), but on turn 4 or 5 he can get pretty chonky depending on the hand. Turn 4 or 5 is much more managable than turn 2 or 3, but he can still highroll early, and late he can get some insane stats.
I'd handle him being HoF'd, despite having just gotten a 26/26 VC on turn 6 or 7 about an hour ago. :-P Right now rogue has a lot of good cards and should be able to handle the loss - plus they'd get a new legendary in his place which could be interesting.
HoF shadowstep, and edwin can bite it. All mana cheating rogue has is BS, but this one is a classic common, and it's overdue its hof, at least, since RoS's launch. At least gala rotates out in April.
All classes have ways of dealing with big minions.
If you think Edwin is a problem keep your removal, else if you think one card makes a class OP the you play the game wrong.
And in ladder Rogue is Extinct, in my games i play only vs HL/ aggro hunter , priests , mages at least in my case so i dont see the problem.
Undertaker in Hunter? Mysterious Challenger? Priestess of fury or hand of guldan? What about warsong commander in patron warrior ? What about shudderwock or force +savage?
When you say one card doesn’t make a class OP I really don’t know what you mean. There have been tons of decks in this games history that were defined or made possible by a single powerful card. When they were nerfed the class or deck completely fell off
If rogues didn’t have lackey spam people wouldn’t complain as much about Edwin. They play 3-4 lackeys and can change the board with 2 dmg or rush lackey, generate cheap spells like backstab, and/or get a dragon that has a good shot at behind a big legendary. All of a sudden they have a 10/10 cleef. And of course the mana cheating they have with galakrond and tog
Edwin isn't a broken card he a high condition and an all in card in most metas's.
Usually you commit, If youropponent has a hard removal or silence you just lose as the rogue.
If there is a problem right now, in this meta, it the lackey issue that allows for 30/30+ Edwin's and the rogue still has a full hand. But that late in the game, being a good opponent you should know "every" rogue has am Edwin and save removal for him.
And as an astute rogue play, both of my favorite decks did NOT run Edwin. DR devilsuar combo, and the Original underfed kingbane.
Maricel rogue also had no use for Edwin and neither do Odd rogue.
The issue isn't Edwin in this meta, its 0mana hands and infinite lackeys with 0-1mana spells combined with players that hold removal.
If you think you're losing to Edwin is the problem you should go reflect on your own play.
I'd rather the hall of fame than kill her. But Edwin is really fine, it's not broken. In all rogue decks it is always played as one more condition because it does not always win games, all classes can respond to a giant minion.
If yes, type a best nerf or change in your opinion for this card
HOF
Hall-of-famed. Not technically a nerf, but still.

Hall of Fame (so ultimately sort of yes)

I vote for the HOF.
Hope so - I've got him in golden.
Darnassus Aspirant
After 5 years, i finally got him from pack and can have some fun
So leave the Cleef alone!

Edwin is fine, if anything should be HoFed, it better be Shadowstep.
No the card is FINE no changes necessary.

This was the first card that ever tilted me in Hearthstone. I've grown to love it. It's just so satisfying when you have an answer for it.

If you can’t get rid of you might be playing the game wrong all classes have a card or card s to deal with him.

Sure, having a 12/12 on turn 3 seems very balanced.
If they touch edwin i'm out
