So I have been playing alot of GvG arena, and I have been testing Fel Reaver some, and it has won me several games now. The most hilarious one most be when I double innervated --> Fel Reaver turn 1. He never died, and I won turn 5.
A thing I noticed about him is that everyone cares more about discarding your cards than actually removing him. Then they suddenly realise "Oh shit, i'm dying" and I win the game :D
I think it's very situational... If your opponent is Zoo, Aggro or Miracle - I mean, this card is dead in your hand against Rogue. He/she plays a decent miracle, probably playing, let's say, 7 cards in one turn - there goes 21 of your cards, and your Fel Reaver probably died to a Shiv... Your only hope is to rush him down before that happens!
However, against slower decks - perhaps Druid, since they mostly play 1 card per turn until the late-game - this will crush face, if the opponent doesn't have an immediate response. But freezing abilities, such as the Mages, would be quite annoying.
I think it depends heavily on the opposition and their ability to play small, efficient cards. And of course their ability to deal with an 8/8 on turn one! :D
Yeah, I don't think I would ever run this in a constructed deck, too risky. But in arena, I think this will be one of my favourite cards to pick.
A little detail worth knowing is that when you are out of cards, he doesn't keep drawing 3 cards every time. He just discards until there are no cards left, and stops.
Also in constructed the issue is vs agro deck, they will play a lot of card and maybe can force you to run it into a 1/3 taunt.
And vs control deck well they are already use to deal with a 8/8 giant on turn 4, he is 1 turn later. Big game hunter, SW:D just crush him. Also just putting a Sludge Belcher, make u discard 3 cards and eat 8 damages. A doomguard is scarier imo. Ah aslo sapping him is funny :p And for all people saying cards you discard are not important. Burning a kill command or that kind of reach is a big deal, how many game agro wins by just by topdecking your reach. Maybe he can be use in paladin agro or another kind of agro deck but i doubt it is gonna be warlock or hunter.
In arena you need to be ahead for him to be good, or on an empty board. Yesterday i mill 9 cards in 1 turn, killing him with 1 card in hand and 1 minion on board and i just put 2 more minions downs.

Wow this is actually super important and counter-intuitive

Interesting I thought it would hit them with 3 rounds of fatigue. Very good to know.
I still don't like it as a card to pick. You almost want him to die so you don't get punished too hard. Sort of like a more painful Venture Co. Mercenary. If he lives too long you start really hating him.
It's not counter-intuitive the card states "discard the top 3 cards" it's not a draw mechanic.
Jeeves would be more problematic in comparison with his "player draws until they have 3 cards" while in reality it draws up to 3 cards, in case of fatigue play.
Ummm how is "Draw a card" when there are not any cards left any different than "Discard a card" from a language standpoint? Seems you are just being an ass for no reason.
Why run this when you can run giants ? i just don't get it. It's easy to make giants cost less than 5 mana. I could understand if it was a common card, it would be a low cost giant for new players, but it's an epic. Why so many epics suck anyway ?
Yes, in constructed. Although even then, you have to make sure you have 7 cards, or are down to 15 health, by turn 5. The strength here isn't really that you'd have a 5-mana 8/8 eventually, it's that you are guarenteed an 8/8 on turn 5 assuming you have it in your hand. But yeah, it's not looking too hot for any constructed deck I can think of.
In arena, it's much harder to set up situations for giants. There's no way you're prepared to cede board control to hold on to cards for a 5-mana giant, and there's bigger problems if you're at 15 health on turn 5 in arena. It's also way too hard to reliably have your board filled for a cheap Sea Giant. In arena this guaranteed 8/8 for 5 is really promising, and in arena it's also less likely that you'll get to topdecking before someone has finished off the other. It's still a liability because sometimes the games get that far - and of course, you'll get there quicker when you toss out 6, 9, 12+ cards - but in general this card is great for arena.
I just finished a match against warlock as a mage.He played the Fel Reaver on Turn 5 while I had 2 Water Elemental on board.I had Blizzard and Cone of Cold in my hand and I discarded all his remaining ~18 cards by the next two turns and killed him with fatigue after an Explosive Sheep board clear..
I had 2 runs with Fel Reaver tonight, first 9 wins then 7 wins. Didn't die to fatigue once. Ran out of cards and took a few damage from fatigue a couple of times, but it didn't matter. Had a couple of opponents try to churn through spells instead of just killing it, and then I killed them with it despite having no deck left.
It really rewards you for knowing your decklist well. If you know what's left in your deck, sometimes you get to a point in the game where you know that it doesn't matter if you lose the remaining cards in your deck. Late game it's awesome, because once you run out of cards, it has no drawback. As long as you win soon after that, obv. :P
I dont feel like its op. In circumstances, where the opponent doesnt have an answer, it can be game winning. However, when they do, it will most likely single-handedly make you lose. This may be different in constructed, as you will put this card in an aggro deck, which will have shorter games. This means that you might not get to fatigue which makes this card much better.

So far i'm 8 wins into my arena run with double Fel Reaver. He has won me atleast half of the games. Love him <3
i think its alittle OP. it is very situational. but i got my ass handed to me in one match bc of it.
druid played one on me then used naturalize I was like thanks?

remember we've only tried him in arena
I fought aFel Reaver last night and beat him by using an Aldor Peacekeeper it was fun as I watched a doom hammerdoom hammer , 2 Fire Elemental and lighting storm go up in smoke.
Discarding does matter when you actually deck out, which is super easy with Fel Reaver.

I think with sunfury protector or something to give it taunt its pretty powerful in any situation but i would NEVER play this against a paladin.
Fel Reaver + humilty + any amount of cheap cards ( eg. Paladin secrets which cost 1 each ) = insta lose from fatigue

As if someone put his deck inside a shredder lol.

I think it's too drastic. If it had lower stats and only discards 2 cards it would be better.
