Don't know about you guys, but since the latest nerfs I only saw 1 deck that utilizes Bad Luck Albatross (and it was ress priest) until now. And only that time I saw the bird and never again. I think the devs did okay job about this nerf. What do you think about this nerf? It passed some time so I think it is okay to talk about it when we all had time to see if the nerf did its thing.
It depends where you play, in wild there are still plenty of Reno decks seeing play since odd Demon Hunter can't run Albatross anymore. As such I try to tech at least one in almost all my decks.
I think it's important to recognise what the nerf did: it took a tech card that was also a premium-stat 3-drop, and made it so that it was no longer an acceptable tempo play when you didn't need the tech aspect. That's good. Archetype-thwarting tech cards shouldn't also be strong tempo plays. If folks really want to stop Spell Mage and Highlander decks, they can, but won't do it automatically by just playing a totally-reasonable 3-mana 4/3.
I haven't seen that bird in weeks either. I think it also has to do with Res Priest falling a bit out of the meta (9 out of 10 priests if not 100% of them are Gala Priests). Other decks that used to include Albatross simply can't afford to keep a spot for a 4-mana 4/3 tech
It should never have been nerfed. Yes, it was a very strong 3 drop. But it was a fair, neutral card that many people could take advantage of.
While highlander decks aren't running rampant now that could change. It was actually one of the best designed tech cards ever. So of course Blizzard decides to change it.
There were a lot of guys that were 100% sure the nerf wouldnt change a thing and that Albatros would still be everywhere, I haven't heard from any of those since the nerf, just like I haven't seen a single bird in standard since...

It was a good nerf, since now its a tech card, but you wont see it as anything else. As it should be
Agree with both these sentiments. The nerf made it more situational and niche.
I honestly don't mind if they doubled down on what its trying to do (shut down highlander decks, give more bad draws). Drop the attack by 1, but increase the number Albatrosses shuffled by 1.

It was most certainly not one of the best designed tech cards. A tech card works against specific decks, albatross literally worked to good effect against EVERY deck. It had a higher effect still against highlander, pure pala, and spell mage, but a still incredible effect against all others. Attached to a body that was fairly statted for its cost.
I hate calling albatross tech but everyone on here argues it is. Tech cards are cards that have niche effects and are otherwise underwhelming for their cost if their effect does not resolve (ooze, crabs, any secret tech, etc). But when you have a card that is fairly statted for its cost like these others, but ALWAYS had an effect regardless of the opponent, we begin to stretch the definition of tech to its breaking point.

I'd say it has more to do with the lack of highlander decks on ladder. Otherwise, I haven't seen an Albatross played in my last 40-50 games probably.
Agreed. Also at the start of the expansion people were hyped about spell mage and pure paladin. No one plays those anymore.

I think people just dusted it for full cost and play other cards they have

It was terrible design. It was so good that it was everywhere. There just wasn't a good reason not to include it into your deck.
It could be abused by priest in wild and standard, resulting in ultra grindy no fun at all games.
It certainly do not miss it.
I think it should shuffle in 3 1/1 minions and change the stats to like 5/2 for the Albatross minion itself.

My boi Alby still goes in, so I'm happy.
